Country musician Vern Gosdin has died at the age of 74.

The singer passed away in Nashville on Monday after suffering a stroke, Billboard reports.

Gosdin's music earned him the nickname 'The Voice'. He had several number one hits during his career as a solo musician, including 1984's 'I Can Tell By The Way You Dance', 1988's 'Set 'Em Up Joe' and 1989's 'I'm Still Crazy'.

He also won the Country Music Academy's award for song of the year in 1988 with 'Chiseled In Stone'.

Gosdin had 41 solo singles and eight albums on the country music charts between 1976 and 1993.

Unless you like Country music you will probably not have heard of him but RIP Vern
