2546: Sarah bribes Holly to get closer to Lydia
Airs on Monday, April 27 2009 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4
Rhys and Josh argue over Hayley being lead singer of the band. Josh wants Rhys to put his history with Hayley aside and do what's best for the band, so invites Hayley along to rehearsals. But Rhys has other ideas when he works his magic on Lydia, persuading her to audition, too. Josh is embarrassed that Lydia's been dragged into it and Hayley's not about to be pushed out by Rhys. Kris agrees that it's in the band's best interest to explore every possibility before making a decision and suggests they both audition.
As Lydia murders her number, it's clear that there's no contest. Rhys is still having none of it and goes too far when he insists that they'll never get anywhere with Hayley's disability. Hayley's hurt but her anger takes over and she tells Josh that if he really wants her to be their singer, he has to choose - her or Rhys. Rhys is arrogantly confident that there's no competition until Josh, ashamed of his brother, tells him that he's out…
Sarah uses Persephone to get close to Lydia. Sarah's pleased to see Lydia when she takes Persephone along to her dance class but she doesn't know where she stands. Things are a little awkward between the girls when the subject of their relationship crops up. Lydia's too embarrassed to discuss it in front of the class and Sarah's even more paranoid when she doesn't get an answer.
Sarah bribes Holly to make friends with Persephone but Holly drives a hard bargain and will only help if there's some cash involved. Sarah's plan backfires when she overplays things and ends up looking after Holly and Persephone, while Lydia goes along to band practice. Unable to stay away, Sarah uses the girls as an excuse to go and watch. Lydia soon discovers that Sarah has used the girls to get close to her, much to Sarah's embarrassment.
Leila's got it bad for Elliot but knows that he just thinks of them as just good friends. She's embarrassed when Kris realises and encourages her to go for it. After running out of excuses, Leila desperately tries to pick the right moment to tell Elliot how she feels but keeps bottling it.
Later, Elliot sees an advertisement for a DJ competition and decides to help Leila enter to win the prize money to buy the painting she loves, even though neither of them have done any DJing before. However, Leila misreads his eagerness when he asks her to go back to halls with him - thinking she's on for some afternoon delight.
She's mortified, though, when she waits seductively in Elliot's bed and he walks in with Archie's decks, ready to practice for the competition. After the initial awkwardness, they get to work but Leila's stirring an uncomfortable Elliot's feelings, before he insists that he'd be better off working alone.
Michaela's trying to maintain an air of sophistication around Mike and is embarrassed by her mother's bad manners. She's quick to join Mike on his trip to the supermarket but she'd rather Myra wasn't with them. As they shop, Myra continues to go on about the rip-off prices and having to pay a quid for a carrier bag. Michaela takes Myra aside and asks her to be a little more refined around him, but Myra's not changing for anyone. However, Myra starts to see Mike in a new light as they have a laugh together making pizzas. It's obvious that she's beginning to develop a crush on him…

Leila's smitten as Elliot teaches her how to DJ. Elliot works hard to perfect his DJing techniques so he can pass them onto Leila. He invites her round to show her how it's done. Leila's impressed and totally mesmerised as she watches him, but Elliot's totally focussed and is completely oblivious to the effect he's having on her.
Seeing how good Elliot is, Leila thinks he should enter the competition himself but he's horrified at the thought. Leila can't hold back any longer and asks Elliot over for dinner. Elliot's nervous and excited at the prospect of their date but he begins to worry if he's doing the right thing after hearing about all the possible dating pitfalls from his friends.
He's a nervous wreck by the time he gets to Leila's, but after the perfect evening, Leila confesses she likes Elliot as more than just a friend, before kissing him. However, she's left hurt and humiliated when he flees the house.
Sarah feels awkward around Lydia after using Persephone to get close to her. But when she bumps into Lydia on a band rehearsal with Hayley and Josh, she makes matters worse by having a go at Josh for the way he handled things with Amy.
It's frosty between the two girls, but Sarah's exasperated that she can't get close to her and accuses Lydia of not wanting people to like her. Lydia apologises and explains that the reason she held back was because she's had bad relationships in the past and needed to be sure that Sarah was genuine before she got involved.
Sarah's insulted at first but they soon get back on track and Lydia proves her feelings for Sarah with a kiss. But Sarah's shocked when Michaela sees them and is gutted that she's going to out them…
Meanwhile, The Somethings perform their first gig in The Dog. Rhys is still smarting after Josh rejected him from the band and isn't happy when he hears Nev's given them a slot in the pub. As the band rehearses, Rhys can't resist having a dig and tells Josh that it's not too late to ditch them and play with him instead. But when Josh makes it perfectly clear that he had his chance and they don't need him, Rhys begins to realise what he's given up. Fed up, Rhys goes back to the flat and tries to spoil Neville and Suzanne's romantic evening, until Neville begins singing his anniversary song for Suzanne and he quickly scarpers.
Hayley's anxious about performing her first gig but she's soon set at ease when things go well. With nothing else to do, a curious Rhys goes back down to the bar to watch, but his resentment simmers as the band are going down a storm. Rhys sabotages the gig by killing the building's power, plunging the local watering hole into darkness. Josh quickly realises that Rhys is responsible for ruining their night and a fight breaks out between the pair of them.

After denying any involvement with him, Calvin's caught red-handed when Mark arrives at The Dog to witness Warren handing over money to Calvin for a job.
It's a race against time to prevent Mark reporting him and Calvin's left no choice but to come clean. However, Calvin truthfully reveals that he's only being friendly with Warren so he can nail him. But Mark doesn't know if he can trust Calvin and walks away, leaving Calvin's fate hanging firmly in the balance.

As the girls secretly watch their respective parents, they're mortified by their behaviour. Michaela reproaches Myra for the attention she's showing Mike, but she protests innocent and is hurt when Mike suggests that they head off to see if the rats have left the McQueens.
Upon entering the house, it becomes clear that it's been set up as some kind of love nest by Mercedes and Malachy and it appears that the rats have miraculously disappeared. A thrilled Mike is quick to offer his help to get Myra back in her own home, much to her dismay.
Arriving with their suitcases, Mike is relieved to be unburdened and is grateful to receive a nude painting from Myra as a thank you for putting them up. With Mark giving him 24 hours to set up a drug sting, Calvin realises that this time, nothing must go wrong. After receiving a text from Carmel inviting him for a drink, a happy Calvin heads to meet her but is on edge when he finds her chatting to Mark. Managing to shake him off, Calvin and Carmel get on better than they have in a long. Her attention is soon diverted when Sarah admits to kissing Lydia and that they're pretty much going out. As Sarah opens up about her fears of starting a lesbian relationship, Zoe attempts to allay her doubts.
Archie and Elliot's arrival brings more discussion over relationships and leaves Sarah in even more of a quandary about her feelings for Lydia. As the banter flows, Leila walks into the SU Bar just in time to see Sarah's dare kiss with Elliot. Upset, Leila flees before anyone sees her.

Leila admits to Sarah and Zoe about how she feels about Elliot, before going on to reveal that Elliot saying that he didn't love her was the worst moment of her life. Archie, desperate for the toilet, is forced to leave the room, causing shock and outrage with the girls when they realise the boys have been hiding.
