View Full Version : Renewing Passport
My five year child passport has just run out and I need to renew it.
Do I need to apply for a first adult passport (I'm 19) or can I renew my child as an adult? I've looked on the UKPA but it doesn't say anything about changing from a child to adult passport.
If I need a first adult passport, will I have to go for an interview considering I already hold a passport?
Thank you :)
You are an adult now, so you should get an adult passport. I just applied for an adult one when I was your age and sent them my expired child passport and never had a problem. :)
You need a new 10yr Adult Passport
I have my 10 year one, got it last year, make sure you get a good photo, mine is awful!!!! and Im gonna have it till im 27 :(

I look pretty much the same. I had some passport photos done a couple of months back for a different application and the only difference is that I look very pale.
Thanks for all your replies. I'll get it sorted in a few weeks.
I never had an interview so I doubt you will need one

a few years ago i think. i got my first passport in 2001 and my adult passport in 2006 and i dont think there were interviews then, i could be wrong though
What do you mean by interviews? I have never had one

in the uk they have now introduced interviews for people applying for their first passport to try and reduce the risk of fraud/terrorism etc i think
Well I got my adult one last year and I didnt have an interview

maybe its for your first ever passport then, rather than just your first adult one?
Must be for the first one only then as I just apply and get my passport without questions being asked, but of course, you need to send back the old passport anyway.

yeh it is just for your first one, but i wasnt sure whether it was your first ever one or your first adult one if that makes sense
From the Home Office website relating to passport anti-fraud measures:
The hi-tech link follows the introduction of 68 interview offices set up over the last 18 months to interview first-time adult passport applicants face-to-face in a bid to deter fraudsters.
There is the answer :)

oh right thanks :) i knew they had been set up recently cos i never had an interview for mine 3yrs ago
erm? when was that.
Ive worked it out but Ive now had my adult passport for nearly exactly 12 months
Are you one that slipped through the net? :D
Lol, well lest just say Im very confused
Unless its cos its not my first passport ever???
Well, I gather that everyone applying for their first adult passport is meant to have this interview. It would have been your first adult passport you got a year ago, I take it. Don't know what happened if you did not have an interview.
Hmmm Im even more confused now
My mum will know
