From The Sun:

BIG Brother host Davina McCall is to double her duties by taking over the show’s Big Mouth spin-off.
The telly favourite replaces comedian Jack Whitehall, 20.

The E4 show will also be slashed from four nights to just one — on Friday nights straight after the eviction.

The moves came as a programme boss revealed next year’s BB will be the LAST.

But the chief added she wished they could axe the reality hit after this summer’s series — the tenth.

Commissioning editor Angela Jain said: “We’re contracted to do another Big Brother after this one.

“It’s a shame because I would have liked to end on the tenth anniversary of the series but there will be a Big Brother 11 too.”

But Angela said she is thrilled Davina, 44, will front Big Brother’s Big Mouth.

She added: “Davina will be great. It means Jack’s not coming back but we’re really excited about it. Davina hosted Big Mouth for a week in the last series and she loved being on E4.”

The other BB spin-off, Big Brother’s Little Brother, will remain on air six nights a week hosted by George Lamb, 29. He took over from Dermot O’Leary.

Angela said: “George has made the show his own. We’re thrilled he’s back.”

Glad to hear its coming to an end, I really think its run its course, but I guess I will find myself in the minority with that viewpoint lol.

I'm glad its coming to an end too. The format has got tired and each year is getting repetitive. It's had a good run though and I've enjoyed most series.

It had run its course after the first one, imo, which I know not many will share. :p

Last man standing... each day viewers will tune in to watch 13 people kick and punch each other. Every night whoever get KO first will be eliminated until there is only one person left to win a prize of a curry and a six pack..

Big brother was entertaining the first three years as those taking part were unique and entertaining to watch. After that it went downhill as all the housemates tried to be like HM from previous series. Everyone wanted to be a Helen, Jade or Brian and failed.

Even though its coming to a end and many people are glad, I knew it had to come to an end at some point, but still, I will miss it

Me too Abbie in a weird way. There has been some nice genuine housemates over the years, like Anna, Helen, John Tickles and Cameron and there has also been some who should have been locked up long ago. It will be strange not having a summer without the bb house.

Exactly I mean ive spent 10 years of my life watching it in the summer time, I cant remember what it was like without it, how sad is that

And yeah some housemates I wanted to kill but I liked most of them :p

The first three Big Brothers were amazing and had great entertaining quality, the minute the Fourth one aired, it went downhill, they tried to get us hooked with all the twist and turns, but to be honest it lost its entertaining quality years ago, don't know why it doesn't end this year to mark 10 years, not 11.

i reckon it'll make a comeback in a few years, when the dust has settled, and another broadcaster decides to reinevent it with a new take on it, and a better choice of housemates. give it a break of five to ten years and by then the public will want some more of it. i seriously think it wont be the total end of big brother when it comes to an end in 2010.

I was thinking that. I think there definitely needs to be a long break though. It's become very tedious, for me atleast.

so many gameshows have gone away, then come back years later, and have become hits again as people forgot how good they could be. gladiators for example. the media needs big brother, so there'll always be room for a comeback.

When Big Brother ends, so should I'm A Celeb, cos to be honest half the contestants aren't even Celebs

DAVINA McCall has admitted what everyone has been hoping for: Big Brother is being axed.

The Channel 4 reality show’s most loyal cheerleader and longtime host predicts that next year will be the last-ever series.

Davina, 41, who returns to host BB10 on June 4, admitted: “It’s definitely only got two years left.”

Channel 4’s three-year £180million deal, runs out next year and critics say it has definitely lost its spark. Last year’s Big Brother final had the LOWEST audience out of the show’s nine series, with a peak of 5.1million viewers watching Rachel Rice’s win.

Davina, who has been host since show’s launch in 2000, added: “It’s become an institution — the summer is all about Big Brother, just like winter is all about the X Factor.”

The mum of two is believed to be looking for a new, more serious TV project to boost her career and has been linked with ITV1’s This Morning following the decision of presenter Fern Britton to quit.

Contestants for the new Big Brother series are still being selected.

For the first time, the show will not be streamed live from the house in Elstree, Herts. An insider said: “It is a cost-cutting measure.”

C4 plans to show a tribute to Big Brother 3 star Jade Goody. E4 will screen a documentary about her before the new series starts.

Good end to bad rubbish imo

4 June wonder what loonies they have selected this year. Hope they don't try any stupid pranks like bringing girlfriends or extra cont estant half way through. Once a housemate is out that's it.

I beg to differ. Summer is not all about Big Brother. The ratings for last year show that.

Thank goodness E4 won't be overtaken by hours of people wandering around a house while the sound is muted by C4 for ten weeks.

After last years cotastrophy, I think I may give Big Brother Summer a miss, last year all the entertaining and bitchy ones went within the first few weeks, leaving us with the boring housemates who tried and failed miserably at backstabbing each other.

Probably watch them go in to see what zoo animals are in it this year.

I know your right and the last couple of years I've said I can't be bothered watching but I get sucked in, scared I miss something. For me it will just be strange not having it on during the summer.

I know its not highly important or anything, but its just the fact Ive been watching it since I was in primary school so it will be odd when next year it isnt on :(

From The Sun:

BIG Brother could go on FOREVER, the show's top executive said last night.
The contract for the reality hit is up next year and it has been suggested that executives at Channel 4 will axe it because ratings have slipped.

Even presenter Davina McCall recently claimed the show was facing the axe, saying: "It's definitely got only two years left."

Davina quickly back-tracked on the statement.

However, show chief Phil Edgar Jones said BB would carry on as long as it pulled in around three million viewers.

He added: "Everyone talks about it getting axed because ratings aren't as good as they used to be.

"But it is still one of Channel 4's best performing programmes and fans love it. We manage to make it different every year so it stays fresh.

"There's no reason why it can't go on forever."

A massive five million viewers used to tune in each summer to watch the reality show, which began in 2000 and launches its 10th series tonight.

But last year figures slumped to around two million on some nights.

I really hope it lasts forever :o I know I said in the first page of this thread, I didn't mind it ending but now a new series is starting, I really hope it does well and carries on.

Sorry to put a downer on things but I really hope this inane mindless exploitation of young people (imo) comes to an end. Just to read what they are meant to do (now live sex on tv - it is NOT going to happen, however much it is intimated, sorry guys, you are not going to watch an adult movie) BB has had its day
