Kiefer Sutherland has revealed that he will return to 24 to play Jack Bauer in the upcoming eighth season of the show.

The actor confirmed that he will rejoin the cast when shooting begins in May, The AP reports.

Sutherland said: "If I was going to liken 24 to a girlfriend, 24 has been really good to me. And I need to be really good back.

"There are plays I want to do. There are so many different things I would like to do, but I was so fortunate to be part of something like 24 that my focus is still on that right now."

He added: "The real pressure is placed on the writers. It's a real question about how much they feel they can give and what they can do."

Sutherland said that providing a voice in animated movie Monsters vs. Aliens was a "relief" and gave him a "fantastic counterbalance" to his regular role as Bauer.

I'm taking Marley and her mates to see Monster v Aliens next weekend. She has no idea that Kiefer is in the film of course. :rotfl:

Marley is fully aware of mummy's obsession with Kiefer and disapears without request on a Monday night when 24 is on. I remember when I took her to see "The Wild" about 4 years ago we were in the cinema and the film came on and Kiefer supplied the voice of the lion she turned to me and said "it's him isn't it" :rotfl:

The next season of 24 will be filmed in New York, reports Entertainment Weekly.

The show is set to relocate to NYC for Day 8, after six seasons in Los Angeles and one in Washington D.C.

It is reported that the show will still be primarily shot in Los Angeles, with some New York footage mixed in.

The site also reports that CTU will make a comeback for the next season under the leadership of a new male character called Brian Hastings.

Hastings will be joined by two new twentysomething agents, as well as Mary Lynn Rajskub's character Chloe.

Thank god for that there's still 6 weeks to go and I was worried she was going to be toast. But she lives to kick a$$ for another day. :cheer:
