Star Wars actor David Prowse has spoken out about his battle with prostate cancer.

The actor, who played masked villain Darth Vader, told Absolute Radio that he had almost finished a two-month course of radiotherapy treatment at London's Royal Marsden Hospital.

"I’m undergoing treatment for prostate cancer, would you believe. I’m having my very last treatment this morning," the Daily Mail quotes him as saying.

"I feel fantastic, no problems whatsoever. The only thing I’ve had is hot flushes," he added. "I’ve also lost some of my hair on my legs and the hair on my chest has all got very fine. But other than that I’ve had no after effects."

Former bodybuilder Prowse, 73, played the iconic Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy but his speaking lines were later dubbed over by US actor James Earl Jones.

Star Wars actor David Prowse has paid tribute to fellow cancer sufferer Jade Goody.

The 73-year-old, who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy, revealed he was battling prostate cancer earlier this week.

And he has hailed British reality TV star Goody - who is dying from cervical cancer - for helping to raise awareness of the disease.

He says, "I now know what it's like to go through this treatment, and I have sympathy for anyone in the same position. Jade should be commended for her achievements, and should be thoroughly proud of raising the awareness of cervical cancer.

"She has done more than anyone else in memory to convince women to go for regular tests. If I can do the same for prostate cancer in men, then I will be happy."
