Philip Schofield has been announced as the host for ITV's latest gameshow The Cube.

The show, to be screened before a studio audience, sees contestants asked to complete straight forward tasks within the confines of a large glass cube.

Each player has nine lives and must complete up to seven challenges, ranging from agility tests to skill trials. The winning contestant is promised a "life-changing amount of money" on the programme, due to be aired later this year.

Schofield wrote on his website: "The Cube operates on the basis that undertaking even a seemingly effortless task magnifies enormously when doing it in a high pressure environment. It's a really simple idea that translates into a cracking format."

State-of-the-art filming techniques will be used to illustrate the anxiety felt by contestants.

Do we need another game show?

Has anybody watched this show yet? I have only seen trailers and I am not too impressed with the reviews I have read, but I don't always agree with the critic's viewpoints.

i think its quite good....its a good program to put on in the background while you are all chatting because you dont have to pay 100% attention to it to know what is going on.

i like it, bit of light entertainment, i think it depends on the contestants. The funniest was a bloke form london who asked to take his trousers of for one of the tasks!

I really enjoy this programme. So much better than The Colour of Money lol, what a joke of a show that was.

At first, you think the tasks on this show are really simple and straightforward but the pressure the contestants feel inside the cube must make it ten times harder to actually complete the challenges successfully.

Strange that the tv critics in the papers have slammed this show, you on here seem to like it.
