A STUDENT last night won £250,000 on Deal Or No Deal after gambling between the top prize box and the one containing just a PENNY.
Daring Alice Mundy, 22, had already said “Deal” when offered £17,500 for the mystery value of her box midway through the show.

But she kept eliminating boxes until the only ones left in play were those worth £250,000 and 1p.

The banker then asked if she wanted to gamble her £17,500 for all or almost nothing.

She agreed in a first for the Channel 4 show — making the audience gasp.

When host Noel Edmonds revealed her box contained the jackpot — only the second time it has been won — she burst into tears.

Alice, of Magor, South Wales said: “I’m not going to look back.”

I watched this yesterday afternoon and burst into tears myself when she won. Congratulations, Alice :cheer:

What a risk to take. 1p or £250k. Don't know what I would have done.

i dont think i would have risked it. £250,000 is a lot of money which i would love to win but so is £17,500 and i dont think i would have wanted to risk getting 1p instead!

But you can only win the jackpot if you are willing to risk it. I am quite good at guessing whether the candidates will do well or not and I was willing her to go on as I had the feeling she would do it :)

thats true, but i would only risk it if the chances were good, ie. if there were 2 boxes left and the other one was about £10,000+

Good on her for having the nerve to go all the way.

I would certainly have risked it. Although £17,500 is nice, how often are you going to get so close to a possible £250,000? £17,500 might mean a temporary uplift but £250,000 is for life.
