Mischa Barton is heading back to TV - she's in negotiations to star in the Melrose Place remake.

The former OC star has confirmed she is in talks to join the cast of the show.

Barton ended her run as rich kid Marissa Cooper on teen drama The OC in 2006.

TV bosses at US network The CW, who brought back Beverly Hills, 90210 as a spin-off last year, have ordered the production of a pilot episode of the new Melrose Place.

The show, which ran from 1992 to 1999, launched the careers of Marcia Cross and Kristin Davis and was notorious for its sensationalist storylines and extravagant characters.

Filmmaker Davis Guggenheim, who won an Oscar for his 2006 documentary An Inconvenient Truth, has been recruited to direct the update.

Never really watched the original melrose place, shud b gud.
The OC was never the same once Marissa was killed off.

Aussie supermodel Elle MacPherson will find it easy getting into character for her small screen return - she's been signed up to star as a model in a new TV show.

The leggy lovely, nicknamed The Body, appeared in a string of movies, including The Edge, If Lucy Fell, and Batman & Robin, and also had a recurring role on hit TV series Friends in the 1990s before leaving her acting career behind to focus on modelling.

But now the star has been tempted back to TV with a role on CW's drama pilot Beautiful Life, alongside former O.C. star Mischa Barton.

Macpherson will play Claudia, a tough-talking 80s supermodel who owns top New York modelling agency Focus Models.

No Mischa is not doing Melrose Place Remake at all - she is in another new show Beautiful Life

Saw the trailer for the new Show and it basically looks like her life, the character that she plays is getting back into the lime light again:hmm:

Does anyone know when Melrose Place starts in the uk and what channel it will be on.
