View Full Version : Natasha Blakeman
Is she going to be made a series regular?
I know she gets with Tony Gordon soon but then gets dumped as he favours Maria
She has been in Corrie for over a year now so I would class her as a regular already, even if she is not seen that often.
Coronation Street star Rachel Leskovac has expressed fears that she could be axed from the soap.
The actress, who has played Natasha Blakeman since May 2008, confirmed that news of job cuts at ITV has left her concerned over her future.
"I am secure till August and I will know in May whether or not they want to keep me," Leskovac told The People. "But I am worried that if ITV are going to make cuts, I might go.
"I am going to have the best time I can and also hope I make as good an impact as possible so they keep me on.
"It's very quiet out there for actors, not much drama is being made. My agent told me I am in the best place even with the cuts that are happening though."
Leskovac was best known for playing murderous nurse Kelly Yorke in Holby City before landing her Weatherfield role. She has also appeared in The Royal and Where The Heart Is.
I thought she was a new character she's barely been seen
Coronation Street star Rachel Leskovac has admitted that she is still unsure over her future with the soap.
The actress, who plays Natasha Blakeman, first expressed fears that she could be axed two months ago in the wake of job cuts at ITV.
In a new interview with The Mirror, Leskovac has confirmed that she remains in the dark over her fate.
"Everything has been going great guns but something might happen and then I might not be part of the soap any more," Leskovac explained. "This show certainly keeps you on your toes.
"I have a three-year contract, that is made up of a series of options. It's different for everyone but for me it's every six months, so I'll know at the end of this month if it's going to be extended. It does make me feel nervous.
"I do feel much more settled now than when I joined the soap but I never take anything for granted in this profession."
Weatherfield producers announced earlier this month that Jonathan Dixon (Darryl Morton) and Wanda Opalinska (Vicki Dankowska) are leaving the programme due to "natural story progression".

Coronation Street airs Natasha Blakeman's return storyline next week.
Rachel Leskovac has reprised her role as Natasha after ten years away from the cobbles ? and she makes her comeback in the hour-long special airing on Friday, September 11.
Upcoming episodes see Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) make plans to take a holiday to Cornwall with Oliver.
Sadly, just as they're looking forward to the happy occasion, Oliver's seizure alarm sounds and he has to return to hospital.
While Nick waits for news at the hospital, he's shocked as his ex-girlfriend Natasha approaches him.
Nick gravely explains that he's awaiting updates about his stepson, while Natasha reveals that she's there for a dermatology appointment.
Later, the doctor tells Nick, Leanne and Steve that Oliver has been moved back to intensive care and put on life support.
Leanne continues to take an optimistic approach to the situation, insisting that Oliver will pull through. Nick and Steve don't feel as hopeful that this will be the case.
Corrie bosses announced their plans to bring back Natasha in July.
Speaking at the time, Rachel Leskovac explained: "I am very excited and proud to be welcomed back to Coronation Street, especially as so many old friends are still there. It's always great to be able to return to a character to explore a whole new path for them."

The child could be from Steve :p
seems young sami is cast so nick will meet his son
Coronation Street's Natasha Blakeman is set for a difficult week on the cobbles, as her son Sam is kidnapped, but what about the character's long-term future on the ITV soap?
Ahead of Sam's kidnap plot ? which will see the youngster lured into a van and held captive by a heavy working for drug dealer Harvey Gaskell ? Rachel Leskovac spoke to Digital Spy and other media about her hopes for Natasha.
Unsurprisingly, Rachel admitted that she would "love to stay" in Weatherfield, especially as there's "a lot of scope for Natasha" following her relationship with Nick Tilsley. "I love the show and I love the people in it," she explained.
"I think there is a lot of scope for Natasha, especially now she has a son with Nick, and so many more relationships to explore which I don't think has been done yet. Obviously, the main focus has been introducing Sam to Nick."
Opening up about her Corrie experience, Rachel ? who returned to the show after a 10-year absence last year ? also called the set "a brilliant place to work".
"I think being asked back is a real honour, they didn't have to, they could've recast as they've done before! I have such a soft spot for it. And what's brilliant about working on a soap as opposed to a three-part or six-part drama, is that the possibilities are endless.
"As an actor, to be able to develop your character consistently and continually is a really wonderful challenge in itself."
As for what might be on the cards for Natasha, including any potential romance, Rachel admitted that she wasn't quite sure ? but, like us, is keen to find out.
"That's the question I need to ask!" she said. "I think we definitely need more male totty on the street! There's slim pickings!" A trip to The Rovers Return is on the horizon, too: "I need to get in the Rovers," Rachel added. "I've not been in the Rovers for a gin and tonic yet!"

Coronation Street's Natasha Blakeman will come up with a big plan to put down more roots in Weatherfield next week, as she decides that she wants to buy the salon.
Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) is intrigued when Natasha (Rachel Leskovac) mentions to him that she is thinking about buying the closed salon, so that she and son Sam (Jude Riordan) can be closer to his dad Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and the rest of the Platt family on a more permanent basis.
However, Natasha's business plans are dealt a major blow when Gail Rodwell (Helen Worth) reminds Natasha that she previously promised to pay to get the sinkhole in the Platts' garden fixed after having an awkward mix-up with Gail.
Natasha is despondent but, later on in the Rovers, Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) cracks open a bottle of fizz and reveals that she has decided to pay for the sinkhole repairs instead, so that Natasha can fulfil her dream of buying the salon.
Natasha is absolutely thrilled by the news, as this means that she can now set the wheels in motion to take on the salon where she used to work during her previous stint on the cobbles.
When Nick and his partner Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) return to the street later, they find Natasha busy taking photos of the salon. When she reveals to the pair that she is in the process of buying the business, they are delighted for her.
Are Natasha and Sam about to become more permanent residents of Weatherfield?
The news comes after actress Rachel revealed that she would love Natasha to take over the running of the salon, joking that she is keen to see David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) working for her character.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that Audrey will get around to arranging the sinkhole repairs before the cavern causes more unstable ground to shift around it during the upcoming Super Soap Week.
As an enormous storm hits Weatherfield during Debbie Webster's House of Horrors attraction, the sinkhole will give way, trapping four characters in the underground Victorian sewers where they are forced to fight for their lives as water continues to pour in.

Coronation Street has revealed details of some emotional hospital scenes featuring Natasha Blakeman and her loved ones next week.
Natasha (Rachel Leskovac) was at the centre of a big twist in Super Soap Week, as she was shot by Harvey Gaskell in a case of mistaken identity.
Harvey (Will Mellor) was on a mission to murder Leanne Battersby following his escape from prison, but became confused when he found Natasha in Leanne's flat wearing the same Halloween costume.
In next week's episodes, Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) receives some news on Natasha at the hospital.
The doctor confirms that Natasha's operation went well. Nick and Leanne (Jane Danson) then have to break the news to Natasha's son Sam (Jude Riordan) that his mum is badly hurt.
Back on the cobbles, Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) blames himself for all of the damage that Harvey caused.
Simon knows that Harvey never would have entered the lives of his family if he hadn't got himself involved in drug dealing.
Wanting to face up to his mistakes, Simon tells Sam that Natasha is in hospital because of him.
Later on, Sam gets to speak to Natasha at the hospital and tells her that she's the best mum in the world.
Natasha is then wheeled away to the operating theatre for another operation, telling Sam that she loves him as she goes.
Nick and Sam then anxiously wait for news on Natasha, with Sam showing his dad the 'get well' card he has made for when his mother wakes up.
Will Natasha make a full recovery?
rip natasha, poor little sam
