Wednesday 11th March 2009

PCs Sally Armstrong (Ali Bastian) and Ben Gayle (Micah Balfour) arrive at a local social club where they find Leanne Harper (Louise Kempton) arguing with club owner, Jimmy Russett (Andy Linden). She claims the night before, her granddad, Danny (Brian Hibbard) was in the club and a valuable watch belonging to him went missing. The officers question the resident magician, Drake Danvers (Tim Treloar), who says that Danny sold him the watch.

Confused, Sally and Ben visit Leanne at home where Danny confesses he sold the watch to help Leanne to pay for her wedding to fiancé, Patrick Stanley (Will Irvine). However, when Danny goes through his pockets to find the envelope containing the money, he discovers it’s missing and realises that Drake has used his skills to con him. As the officers arrive at Drake’s house to arrest him, they find the door open with Drake’s girlfriend and manager, Nicole Pickering (Lorna Pegler), lying unconscious on the floor, with a bleeding head wound.

Back at the station, DC Stevie Moss (Lucy Speed) and DI Neil Manson (Andrew Lancel) question Drake, who quickly admits to stealing the watch to fund a gambling habit. Neil is suspicious when Drake confesses so readily and organises a search of his house, where £5,000 is found in a secret compartment in a puzzle box: money Drake claims to have spent. While in the house, a message is played on Drake’s answering machine: the unidentified caller threatens to hurt Nicole again if he doesn’t receive money from Drake. Drake finally admits that he’s being blackmailed by someone, but has no idea who.

Through further investigation, Neil and Stevie discover that the blackmailer is Leanne’s fiancé and persuade Drake to take part in a sting. When Patrick calls Drake again, the magician agrees to leave the money in the toilets of the social club. Later, Stevie, Neil and fellow Sun Hill officers blend in with the crowd while Drake performs his act on stage.

Patrick soon enters the club and as he heads towards the toilets, Danny unexpectedly throws a punch at him. A brawl ensues and the entire operation is jeopardized. As officers attempt to pull everyone apart, Neil and Stevie go to retrieve the money but find that as if by magic, it’s disappeared.

Thursday 12th March 2009
PCs Beth Green (Louisa Lytton) and Tony Stamp (Graham Cole) are out on patrol when Beth  reveals she has applied for a job in Witness Protection. Before she has a chance to say anymore, they see Molly Anderson (Cathleen McCarron) standing on the edge of a bridge. As Beth  tries to talk her down, PCs Nate Roberts (Ben Richards) and Mel Ryder (Rhea Bailey) arrive and when Molly jumps into the water, Nate quickly dives in after her, eventually dragging her to safety.

Back on the bridge, Tony searches Molly for identification and finds a staff membership card for a local boxing club – and a bag of heroin. DCs Terry Perkins (Bruce Byron) and Jo Masters (Sally Rogers) later head to the club where trainer Andy Marcom (Daniel Rabin), introduces them to his young protégée, Dylan Chambers (Jumayn Hunter). The owner, Charlie Davies (Julian Lewis Jones), is shocked to hear about Molly and shows the officers her desk, where two more bags of heroin are found in locked drawers. Could Molly be a dealer?

At the hospital, Beth  questions Molly who eventually admits that she found the bags of drugs in the boxing club and hid them in her desk. While the club is searched, Charlie is interviewed and it soon becomes clear that he is hiding something. More drugs are found in an empty locker and Molly is re-interviewed by Beth  and Terry.

She clams up when Terry pushes her for answers and after clashing all day over the case, Terry and Beth  finally confront one another. Molly finally confesses that she saw Dylan hiding the drugs in his locker but, convinced he was being pushed into hiding them for someone, she took them and hid them. A devastated Dylan is brought in for questioning and he admits that he is being bullied by someone at the club to hide the drugs. But who?

After a long, difficult day, Beth:sick: heads back to the station where she finds a letter from Witness Protection. She is distracted when Terry congratulates her on excellent police work and the pair finally reach an understanding. Later, Beth  heads to the boxing club to meet Tony and Nate who are watching Dylan’s boxing match. Bracing herself for their reaction, she tells them that she’s been accepted into Witness Protection and tomorrow will be her last day at Sun Hill.

What a load of crap. Probationer midget going to witness protection. This job is usually offered to people with a bit of experience, CID training and firearms train not a bloody probationer.
