View Full Version : Sheridan quitting Housewives role
Actress Nicolette Sheridan is to leave her role in Desperate Housewives, US network ABC has confirmed.
No details of when the star will exit the series have been released, nor is it known how she will be written out.
The 45-year-old, who was born in the UK, plays troublemaker Edie Britt in the show, who is often at odds with the other regular residents.
At the end of a previous series, Britt left only to return when the show moved forward five years.
Before landing the part in Desperate Housewives in 2004, Sheridan was best known for starring in 1990s soap opera Knots Landing.
Until last year she was engaged to singer Michael Bolton, but they announced their split in August.
The pair first started dating in 1992 and spent five years together.
They rekindled their romance in 2005 before getting engaged the following year.
They recorded a duet together, The Second Time Around, which appeared on the 2006 album Bolton Swings Sinatra.
Well I do like her but to be fair I think the show will be ok without her, although she is fun to have
sad news, I LOVE EDDIE, and still thought an affair with her and Tom would happen in time!
i hope she goes out in style, either putting the housewives in place or being bumped off by her evil husband!!!
Nicollette Sheridan reportedly helped herself to some parting gifts from the Desperate Housewives set when she left.
The Sun claims that the actress took a variety of items - including a flat-screen TV, silk sheets, and crystal chandeliers - when she left her trailer.
Her actions follow reports that she was denied a leaving party.
Sheridan's representative said that everything she took belonged to her, and a spokesman for ABC denied the rumours.
Earlier this month, Felicity Huffman denied claims that Sheridan was forced to leave Desperate Housewives.

Teri Hatcher has dismissed ongoing reports she and Nicollette Sheridan never got along on the set of Desperate Housewives - by insisting the actress should land an Emmy nomination for her final episode on the show.
Sheridan recently filmed her finale, in which her character Edie Britt appears to die in a bizarre car crash, and Hatcher is adamant she will be missed.
Scoffing at any suggestion Sheridan was unpopular on the set, Hatcher says, "I feel really grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her... She deserves all the honour and respect in the world.
"Her final performance was a fabulously written episode. She should get nominated for an Emmy."
The episode will air in America on 19 April.
well i just saw the episode where she crashes and gets electroucted, and i have to say it was very disapointing and anti-climatic!
I dunno if she's gonna survive that, and have a few more episodes before her exit, but if she goes like she did in the episode i saw then that would be a major disapointment!

Nicollette Sheridan's departure from Desperate Housewives failed to pull in the ratings TV bosses had hoped for - the episode attracted 1.3 million less viewers than the season average.
Sheridan bowed out of her role as TV siren Edie Brit in the U.S. on Sunday, with her character being killed off in a dramatic car crash involving a power pole.
But the show's ratings were less than electrifying - ABC chiefs were stunned to find the star's climatic demise failed to persuade viewers to tune in.
The show's latest season has seen an average U.S. audience of 15.2 million, but Sheridan's exit only pulled in 13.9 million, according to Nielseon Media Research.
But network executives have put the lower figures down to a month-long break between original episodes.
Sheridan was cut from the show to cut costs, with show creator Marc Cherry admitting he had been put under "tremendous pressure" to scale down the series' budgets.
The move didn't sit well with the actress, who warned: "(Killing off Edie) was a risky decision that could have devastating ramifications."
