FORMER Emmerdale actress Amy Nuttall is to return to TV - with a star role in Hotel Babylon.

Amy, 26, who quit as the soap’s Chloe Atkinson in 2005 to pursue a career in theatre and music, will play receptionist Mel in the fourth series of the show, which airs in spring.

She told the Manchester Evening News: “It’s my first big TV role since Emmerdale and it’s great to be back. It’s very different from working in theatre.

“But I’m really excited about it. All the cast are lovely and I play a wonderful character who is great fun to bring to life.”

Amy said: “She (Mel) isn’t exactly the kind of character you’d expect to be working behind reception in a five-star hotel. She’s great fun to play, though.”

She appears in the final two episodes of the new Hotel Babylon series, which also stars former EastEnders actor Nigel Harman, who replaces Max Beesley.

Since leaving Emmerdale Amy, who has been romantically linked with Steve Jones in the past, has starred in many West End theatre shows, including My Fair Lady.
