EastEnders bosses are said to be furious after a web user set up a bogus Kara Tointon Facebook account.
The unknown individual not only impersonated the 25-year-old actress, who plays Dawn Swann in the BBC soap, but also claimed to know future plotlines.
A Walford source told DS: "The bosses upstairs are infuriated that someone would impersonate an actress and claim to be privy to advanced storyline information.
"Not only does the disruption frustrate fans, it's also quite a worry for those who are being imitated."
Tointon is one of several actors at the soap who have become victims of Facebook fakery.
An EastEnders spokesperson said: "Kara Tointon does not have a Facebook page. We strongly advise our cast not to have social networking sites but if they do, we ask that they be kept at the maximum privacy setting. This is to prevent any form of duplicity."
