Bob Dylan's famous protest song 'Blowin' In The Wind' will be used in an advert for the Co-operative Group.

It is the first time that the legendary US singer-songwriter has allowed one of his tracks to feature in an advert in the UK.

A spokesman for record label Columbia said that the Co-op's sensitivity to the environment, fair trade and social responsibility influenced Dylan's decision.

"He has a career based on surprising people, on people not being able to second-guess him," the spokesman said. "He continues to embrace change and embrace change in music."

The 1963 song, famous for the line "the answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind', was adopted by anti-Vietnam war protesters in the '60s and '70s.

Look forward to seeing the ad to go with this track
