John Barrowman is to front a BBC show rivalling ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.

The Doctor Who actor and West End singer, 41, will host Tonight’s The Night on Saturday nights.

Wannabes will be invited to audition for Barrowman and a panel of experts.

The most talented will get to perform on the live show with a host of star guests.

Viewers will vote for the ultimate winner.

John said: “I am so excited. I’m really looking forward to finding the unlikely stars out there and helping them realise their dreams.”

But Tonight’s The Night is already being slammed as “a copycat show”.

Critics claim the series is the Beeb’s version of Britain’s Got Talent created by Simon Cowell, 49.

An industry insider said: “You can’t blame fans for thinking it’s a direct rip-off. But who cares? It has the potential to be a great show and it will be good to see the BBC take on Cowell.”

I'll tune in to see what it's like because Mr Barrowman is on it but there is too many reality shows on now we don't need anymore.
