View Full Version : Ramsay family returns to 'Neighbours'
Neighbours is apparently about to get a fresh injection of the Ramsay family.
The introduction of the next generation of the soap's stalwarts is currently being integrated by producers, reports TV Tonight.
A source said: "It’s being plotted at the moment. They will be younger, siblings, a new generation of Ramsays.
"It’s not a mum and dad but Ramsay siblings coming into the street."
The family's return to their namesake cul-de-sac in Erinsborough will recall the show's 1985 beginnings, which focused on both the Ramsays and Robinsons.
Ooo this could be good, so let me get this right they are all brothers and sisters no parents in it?
I haven't watched Neighbours in years - but who?
Charlene's kids Henry's kids? Who else is there?
I suppose you have Danny and co too - all of Max's relatives maybe :searchme:
We can exclusively reveal the names of the characters and actors who will make up the new generation of Ramsays on Ramsay Street. Ashleigh Brewer, who has previously appeared in H20 Just Add Water and The Sleepover Club has been cast as eldest sibling, 18-year-old Kate Ramsay, Will Moore will play 16-year-old Harry Ramsay, while Kaiya Jones, who previously appeared in The Saddle Club will play 12-year-old Sophie Ramsay.
No details of contracts or plots are currently available, but we can expect the Ramsays to hit Australian screens in June.
From DS
Neighbours star Kaiya Jones has unveiled a new haircut after having her waist-length locks chopped off.
The 15-year-old actress, who plays Sophie Ramsay on the show, now has a bob style as part of a revamped look for her character.
Neighbours bosses have teased that the reason Sophie is changing her style will be revealed on screen in the coming months.
Jones told the official Neighbours website that some of Sophie's style changes may seem "extreme" compared to her casual off-camera appearance.
"I can't give too much away but her look is very radical," Jones said. "She's definitely discovered what eye-liner and mascara is all about!"
Jones joined the cast of Neighbours in early 2009 and her latest storyline has seen Sophie develop a schoolgirl crush on newcomer Noah Parkin (Orpheus Pledger).
I think it suits her much better than the long hair

That suggests to me she's going goth! She does look really different in that photo anyway, much older. But at leats they are letting the character grow up a bit, her and Calum are at the awkward age where they're not fully-blown teenagers yet.

It suits her
With Neighbours set to film in Queensland, we caught up with star Ashleigh Brewer to find out more about her latest Neighbours storylines and the events leading up to her alter ego Kate's adventures away from Ramsay Street.
One thing that viewers here will have noticed is that Noah’s starting to take a shine to Kate. At what point does she realise that he’s got feelings for her, and how will she react?
Andrew is the one who picks up on it in the first instance and warns Kate. She is a little hesitant not to give Noah the wrong idea, and when she suggests she stops tutoring him, Noah tells her it’s another girl he is interested and implies it’s Summer. Kate accepts this and goes back to being his tutor, totally unaware of what he is really thinking.
Do Noah’s feelings for Kate test the relationship between the sisters and, if so, what can you tell us about that?
While Kate isn’t aware that Noah has feelings for her, it doesn’t really impact on she and Sophie. She’s just conscious of her little sister getting hurt.
It’s safe to say that Kate hasn’t been particularly lucky in love. Do you think her fling with Rhys is a sign that her approach to relationships will change? Would you like to see her enjoy the single life, or is there anyone you think would make her perfect match?
Well, it hasn’t gone well so far! I think the Rhys thing was a result of what’s been happening in her life to date, a release I guess. Yeah, it would be nice for her to have time to be herself. She has so much responsibility at a young age - looking after her sister, working and studying. Some “me” time would be great. I think Mark came pretty close as her perfect match, so big shoes to fill.
How will Kate cope when she finds out about Brennan’s death? What impact will it have on the relationships with those around her?
Understandably, she will be devastated. This was the love of her life after Declan. You’ll see shortly behavior from Kate which is really out of character and, yes, it will have a major impact on the people close to her.
As Sophie’s guardian as well as her sister, Kate doesn’t often get to let her hair down. Will we see that change in upcoming storylines and, if so, how?
Yeah, she does lash out a bit with a few big nights on the town, but there’s lots, lots more to come.
How do you think Kate has changed as a character, and what do you hope the future holds for her?
She is still very responsible and I think she’ll always be like that. She is definitely more confident and doesn’t shy aware from standing up for herself to family members or her friends. And while she has been through so much, she does have a sense of fun.
We know from our Run Away with Ramsay Street competition that we’ll be seeing Kate go to Queensland. Are there any hints you can give us about that storyline and how it develops?
This is one of those out of character situations where Kate needs to unshackle herself from the effects of some life-changing experiences.
If you could jet away anywhere in the world for a relaxing break, where would it be and why?
I’d have to say New York. While it’s probably not relaxing, it’s exciting, and my best friend Margot Robbie (who played Donna Freedman) is currently filming and living there.

Neighbours bosses have announced that Sophie Ramsay will undergo a rock chick makeover in a forthcoming storyline.
The Ramsay Street schoolgirl, played by 15-year-old Kaiya Jones, opts for the drastic new look in a plot which is currently being filmed, Channel 5 has confirmed.
Firm details of the reasons behind Sophie's decision have yet to emerge, but Neighbours chiefs have teased that her makeover forms part of a "major" story twist which sees her rebellious side come out.
Jones recently had her waist-length locks cut off for the storyline. Pictures were released of the actress's casual off-camera appearance a fortnight ago, but Sophie's radical makeover was only revealed today.
Sophie's current storyline has seen her develop a crush on newcomer Noah Parkin, who has feelings of his own for her older sister Kate (Ashleigh Brewer).
Orpheus Pledger, who plays Noah, recently told Digital Spy that the storyline gets "pretty heavy" in the weeks ahead.

i knew it, lol! she looks better than Goth Bree ever did.
Neighbours' sibling troubles between Sophie and Kate Ramsay take a new twist on UK screens next week as the pair decide that they no longer want to live together.
As the Department of Human Services (DHS) continues threatening to put Sophie into foster care, Kate (Ashleigh Brewer) finally returns home to Erinsborough in the hope that she can fix everything.
However, the sisters soon realise that things can't go back to the way they were, leaving Paul (Stefan Dennis) to step in and offer to become Sophie's guardian instead. Could this be the right solution for all concerned?
Digital Spy recently caught up with Kaiya Jones, who plays Sophie, to ask some quickfire questions about the storyline.
Sophie has been taking centre stage on Neighbours recently. How have you found filming her recent stories?
"It's been a lot of fun and also really challenging at the same time. She is still getting over Noah and feels betrayed by the one person she has always trusted, her sister. Sophie is still very angry. And her recent meltdown scene was pretty full on, it's not often you're given permission to damage property!"
Sophie decides to run away early next week, doesn't she?
"Yes, the last thing Sophie wants is to be put into a foster home, so her way of stopping this situation is to run away. Unfortunately, she doesn't get too far before Callum finds her."
When Kate returns to Ramsay Street, what's the atmosphere like between her and Sophie?
"It's pretty tense. Sophie is still angry that Kate was away, as she had to go through getting expelled from school and the stress of the DHS virtually on her own."
Why do they decide they no longer want to live together?
"I can understand it. For most of the time they have been together, it has been like a mother/daughter relationship rather than sisters. Now they can be more like sisters."
Is it strange to film the animosity between Sophie and Kate after they were so close in the past?
"It's not really weird because they have been through a lot to get to this point, and it makes sense. It would be kind of weird if they were getting along after everything that has happened!"
Paul eventually decides to take over legal guardianship of Sophie. How do you think that will work out?
"Sophie is probably one of the few people who gets along with Paul, but that's not to say it's going to be an easy ride all the time - that would be boring!"
Why is Sophie so reluctant to swallow her pride and apologise to Priya to get back into Erinsborough High?
"Hey, she is 15! They both have very different points of view and Sophie struggles to see the situation from Priya's perspective."
What do you think of Sophie's new look? Is it here to stay?
"I really like it because it's very different from me. I wear very little make-up when I'm not working. For the moment, this is Sophie's look."
What else can we expect from Sophie in the coming weeks?
"Sophie and Rani Kapoor play off each other in upcoming stories, which is interesting. There is some fun stuff coming up for Sophie with Callum and Rani, and she also does a bit of match-making for her uncle…"
You've been at Neighbours for about three years now. How are you finding your time on the show in general?
"The cast are fantastic - they're like my second family now. I really love being on the show and hope to be doing it for a while longer!"
Kate Ramsay will take the brave decision to return to teaching following encouragement from Erinsborough High principal Priya Kapoor.
Unfortunately for Kate, who was forced to give up teaching after kissing student Noah Parkin, her past comes back to haunt her as the new crop of students begin to gossip about her actions.
Kate - played by Ashleigh Brewer - then faces further humiliation when new boy Harley brings up the incident and cheekily suggests he would be happy to follow in Noah's footsteps.
"Kate shows the class that she's not to be messed with by punishing them all," an insider told the Daily Star. "But she's got a tough time ahead. Some kids are going to make her suffer."
Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5. Viewers will be able to see Kate's difficult return to the classroom later this autumn.
