TROUBLED Fiz Brown shows up in court for ex-fiancé John Stape’s kidnap case after deciding to support him.

Poor Fiz was devastated when she discovered John had held troublesome minx Rosie Webster captive.

She vowed never to see him again – but as the day of his sentencing approaches she realises she has to be there for him – leaving John touched by her presence.

As the judge prepares to pass sentence John makes a heartfelt submission to the court.

He tells the judge he deeply regrets abducting Rosie and hurting Fiz.

But although what he says sparks new feelings from Fiz, it doesn’t stop the judge sending him down.

A Coronation Street insider said: “John takes advantage of the situation by reaching out to Fiz. He hopes that by
turning up to show her support in court it means she will one day forgive him.

“He knows he’s facing a stretch behind bars but if Fiz is waiting for him when he gets out he’ll be able to get through
anything.

“John is the love of Fiz’s life and she knows what he did was wrong.

“But at the end of the day it was Rosie who ruined it all for them in the first place.

“Fiz has a lot to think about and only she can decide what it is she wants to do.”

Fans of the ITV1 soap can see John sent down for kidnap and false imprisonment a week tomorrow.

KNICKER-STITCHER Fiz Brown secretly visits jailbird John Stape behind bars.

The factory girl feels she has no one else to turn to when her younger brother Chesney starts bunking off school because he’s been bullied.

In a desperate attempt to sort out the teenager’s troubles a headstrong Fiz marches to the school to speak to the headmaster.

But instead of making things better, Fiz ends up in a fi ght with the bullies, which results in her vowing to teach him at home.

And when Ken Barlow says he’s too busy to help, a desperate Fiz turns to her former lover, the banged-up teacher.

John was jailed for kidnapping Rosie Webster after she told the authorities of their affair, losing him his job.

He is delighted to see his ex-girlfriend Fiz at the prison and it soon becomes clear they both still have feelings for one another.

Jennie McAlpine, who plays the confused Corrie fave, told us: “Fiz gets herself in a right pickle and doesn’t know who else to turn to.

“She realises a home tutor is too expensive and that’s when Fiz has the bright idea of going to John.

“The plan seems a bit out there – him passing her teaching notes through the prison windows.

“But I think it’s secretly just an excuse for her to be able to see him again.”

Jennie revealed Fiz’s secret will, in true Coronation Street fashion, soon be out of the bag – much to the shock of her Weatherfield neighbours.

She said: “Once they fi nd out they’ll be ready to stick their two penn’orth in.

“That won’t help, though. Fiz is doing what she thinks is best for Chesney.

“And there are definitely still feelings between Fiz and John.”

Catch all the drama with the couple a week tomorrow on ITV1.
