View Full Version : Manc Street Preacher
CORRIE’S Sophie Webster is to become the opposite of Street slapper sister Rosie – by turning to God.
The 14-year-old schoolgirl (played by Brooke Vincent) even takes a vow of chastity.
And when Sophie starts attending a Bible group, she ends up with two new men in her life — boyfriend Ben, 16, and God.
Parents Kevin and Sally Webster (Michael Le Vell and Sally Whittaker) are baffled by Rosie’s turn to religion in the Manchester soap — but relieved she’s not seducing teachers like Rosie, 18, (Helen Flanagan).
Sal will tell her: “Well, I don’t know where you get that leaning from. I was boy-mad at your age and you don’t get it from Rosie — she’d sooner give up breathing than boys.”

I wonder where that leaves the other spoiler that was revealed for January then.
I'm glad Sophie is getting more screentime, she's much better than Rosie, she could quite happily have stayed at John Stapes grandmothers house for my liking.
CORONATION Street’s Sophie Webster is set to agree to a SEX BAN with her first boyfriend — because he is an evangelical Christian.
Millions of viewers of the ITV soap will see the youngster, played by Brooke Vincent, 16, fall for religious newcomer Ben Richardson.
She attends his church — and the pair end up taking a vow of chastity.
Louise Sutton, Corrie’s series editor, said: “The decision amongst teenagers to declare themselves chaste until marriage is hugely popular in the States. But it is also becoming more widespread in the UK.”
Lucien Laviscount, 16, who plays Ben, started filming the scenes last month but has not appeared on screen yet.
The plot, involving the sister of racy Rosie, will run for most of this year.
I like this storyline but hope they are making it interesting, otherwise going on about it for most of this year will make it a very long year.
DEVOUT Sophie Webster is hoping her clean-cut influence rubs off on hellraiser sister Rosie.
As TV Biz reported earlier this month, the 16-year-old Corrie girl - played by Brooke Vincent - will start a relationship with a committed Christian schoolboy Ben Richardson (Lucien Laviscount) and vows to abstain from having sex until marriage.
Producers said the teen couple's tentative first scenes are already in the bag.
Corrie's series editor Louise Sutton said: "We thought it would be refreshingly different for Sophie to fall for someone clean-cut and sporty, which is where Ben, star of the school swimming team, came in.
“We filmed Ben’s first scenes with the Webster family back in December 2008 and we hope to play the story of Sophie and Ben’s love and their commitment to their faith for some time to come.”
I think hell will freeze before Rosie will copy her sister's behaviour where the fellas are concerned

I think you might be right lol
STARLET Brooke Vincent has fiercely defended Coronation Street’s decision to introduce a Christian character.
The 16-year-old plays Sophie Webster, who has taken a vow of chastity after falling for religious teen Ben Richardson.
And Brooke, who has been in the soap for six years, says she is pleased characters her own age are not being stereotyped as troublemaking hoodies.
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star, she said: “We’re not all in a gang hanging around on street corners.
“There are just a few people of my age who are bad, ruining it for the rest of us. This storyline shows that not all teenagers are trouble.”
School swimming captain Ben, played by Lucien Laviscount, 15, has told her he does not believe in sex before marriage and they agree not to sleep together.
Brooke added: “Corrie has moved away from the stereotypical Christian character.
“Ben is cool, sexy and really popular so the idea is that we can show people it’s OK to believe in something and you don’t have to follow the crowd.
“Deciding not to have sex is a very personal decision and we are not trying to tell everyone my age what to do.
“But I like that it shows there is more to a relationship than sex and these two don’t feel under pressure from their mates to do something they are not ready for.”
This is Brooke’s first major storyline and she is relishing the chance to really start acting.
She said: “Sophie has always been a lot like me and I haven’t really had to test myself.
“I am so pleased I have been given the chance and I’m really excited.”
On-screen dad Michael Le Vell, 44, has already claimed she is a “legend in the making”. And with her TV sister Helen Flanagan, 19, becoming one of the hottest young stars on the cobbles, Brooke has a hard act to follow.
But she said: “It’s a privilege for anyone to have high expectations of you, especially Mike. He’s like a proper dad to me.
“I look up to Michelle Keegan as well. She’s a bit giddy like me and we clicked as soon as she arrived. She gives me advice on everything.”
Coronation Street star Brooke Vincent has revealed that she is thrilled with her new chastity storyline.
The actress's character Sophie Webster was recently seen agreeing to a sex ban following discussions with her boyfriend Ben Richardson, a devout Christian.
Vincent has now praised the ITV1 soap's producers for using the new plot to challenge stereotypes about religious people.
Speaking to Celebs On Sunday magazine, she explained: "It's different, isn't it? We all have a stereotypical view of a Christian, but Lucien Laviscount, who plays Sophie's boyfriend Ben, is quite hot, and you don't really think of religious people like that, so maybe it'll make religion cool.
"It shows you don't have to be a geek or be all 'religion, religion, religion' to be a Christian."
The 16-year-old added that she would like Sophie's behaviour to spiral out of control in a future storyline.
She said: "I think she should get married and have five kids, including triplets or something stupid, and then get them all took off her because she's gone off the rails. That would be fun."
