Linda Lusardi dialled 999 because she was stuck in traffic
Former glamour girl and wooden actressLinda Lusardi dialled 999 after getting stuck in heavy traffic on her way to a pantomime appearance, police have said.
Ms Lusardi, 50, called emergency services to ask if she could drive on the M25's hard shoulder so she could reach the High Wycombe theatre in time.
A Hertfordshire police spokesman said: "The request was denied and she was given suitable words of advice."
Ms Lusardi is playing the Wicked Queen in Snow White at the Swan Theatre.
The former Emmerdale actress was on her way to the matinee performance when she made the call.
The police spokesman said: "We received a phone call from a woman asking if she could have emergency permission to use the hard shoulder of the M25 as she was late for an appointment.
"Being late for work is not a reason to call 999, contact the police or use emergency measures. Use of the hard shoulder is restricted for emergency service vehicles only.

Deary me. She obviously thinks she deserves some kind of 'special treatment' and that for some reason, she should be treated above how everyone else is treated.

She should get done for it. 999 is for emergency calls not some D-lister who is late for work and thinks she can do what she wants.
Cant beleive someone would be so thick.

Found this on MSN News:

A woman called 999 to complain she was unable to get through to Strictly Come Dancing to vote for Tom Chambers in the final, police have said.

It was just one of the frustrating calls made to police, who released the details to ask the public not to call emergency numbers for frivolous - or ridiculous - reasons.

Other 999 calls made to Greater Manchester Police (GMP) recently included one from a priest because he was in WH Smiths at Manchester Airport and the staff wouldn't let him use their toilet, a man who complained staff at a pizza shop had put mushrooms on his pizza and he had not wanted mushrooms and a caller who dialled 999 to ask what his mobile number was.

^^^

It's these type of people who prevent the emergency services from saving people in genuine trouble :(

i know - espec the one asking what their number was

but i agree, they are stupid, and risking the safety of others who actually need the 999 services.

Of all people, the priest should have known better than to call an emergency number for something so ridiculous.

What exactly did the woman expect the police to do?

When will people learn that 999 is there for EMERGENCIES, not because you can't get through to a number

there have been loads of appeals in channel M about this, as the services are saying even without stupid phone calls like this they are still stretched

It isnt right though, and how are people meant to learn that this is wrong, when people like Linda Lusardi does it and then it is plastered all over the news, some people clearly have no brains at all!

"Being late for work is not a reason to call 999, contact the police or use emergency measures. Use of the hard shoulder is restricted for emergency service vehicles only.

"In particular, we would also strongly urge people to only phone 999 in an absolute emergency, such as where there is immediate threat to life or property."
