A gang of raging Walford dads go on the warpath after finding out Tony King is a paedophile.

Phil Mitchell, Max Branning and Ian Beale lead the angry mob.

They storm the local youth centre as news spreads that the sex offender had been working with their children.

And as the situation gets out of control, centre manager Lucas Johnson is attacked and left for dead.

A show insider said: “It’s mob mentality at its worst.

"The news about Tony sends shock waves around the Square.

“The fathers are spitting blood and they storm around to the centre demanding that it be closed down.

"Lucas does his best to convince them that he knew nothing about Tony’s sick ways but it has little effect.

“As he tries to lock up the centre, he is jumped on and badly beaten.”

Max (Jake Wood, 34) is particularly furious after discovering Tony (Chris Coghill, 33) was grooming daughter Lauren (Madeline Duggan, 14).

He had been using her problems to gain her trust.

But when she learns he was sleeping with Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty, 16) she tells her father.

If this was real life you know that there would be some idiots out there that would do this. Why do they beat up Lucas?!?! Tony had no previous convictions of child abuse so why would Lucas not employ him. Its not his fault. Just because they cant hurt Tony they are looking for someoneelse to blame.

i still think Lucas was daft for employing him in the first place, he was in prison for GBH on a minor after all! and how did he swing it anyway, it's not like Lucas owns that community centre, he'd have to have run the CRB check past someone from the council!

Well harsh. Not Lucas's fault at all, surely they must know, if he had known no way would he have hired him. Good point Voodoo though...

You are right, he should have heard alarm bells when Tony admitted to having been in jail for beating up a youth, even if he wanted to "protect" Whitney. No way to deal with this kind of situation. :thumbsdow and therefore no job for the idiot.

RICKY Butcher turns superhero when he gives paedophile Tony King a beating.

Tony is released on bail after he is arrested over his affair with schoolgirl Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty, 17).

And when he returns to the Square to try to convince her to withdraw her evidence against him he runs into a furious Ricky Butcher.

Ricky (Sid Owen, 36) has feelings for Whitney’s stepmum Bianca Jackson.

And after Tony’s affair was rumbled, he has become her shoulder to cry on.

He loses his temper when he catches Tony (Chris Coghill, 33) in the area and gives him a kicking.

EastEnders boss Diederick Santer, 39, told the Daily Star: “I think everyone wants to see justice done.

“Ricky is furious with himself for not having a go at Tony when he suspected he was roughing up Whitney.

“So he beats him up.”

The explosive storyline has caused controversy, with some viewers claiming it is too strong to be shown before the watershed.

But Patsy Palmer, 36, who plays Bianca, believes it is an important plot.

She said: “Sadly, Bianca’s situation is not uncommon. Many families have been in this position.

“But if by doing this storyline the show gives one person the courage to speak up it’ll have done its job.”

i really hope the BBC aren't condoning vigilante violence. can we at least remain civilised about this?

I have been told many times that sometimes people take the law into their own hands because the law is too lenient with law breakers or too slow going about their buisness. Ricky has so much pent up anger about what has happened to Whitney and to Bianca and her family ( remember what Bianca told Tony about Tiffany), he let it loose on Tony ( the target of his anger).
MAY I ASK, WHY WAS THIS MAN RELEASED ON BAIL ??:hmm: :searchme: in the USA, the bail is set high enough that most of the time they sit in jail until their day in court.:searchme: The only time they are FREE , is when they are let out of jail after their time served.. or they have been aquitted...or they are taken out in a pine box.

Staying in jail pending his trial would probably infringe on his human rights, innocent until proven guilty and all that. :thumbsdow:
