Lauren turns herself in
Airs on Monday, January 5 2009 at 20:00 GMT on BBC One
In the court, Lauren stuns her dad when she explains how her hatred towards him resulted in attempted murder. Max is further taken aback when she reveals that Tanya knows her dark secret in the hope that he'll save her from spending time for a crime she didn't commit. Max quickly tracks down Tanya's solicitor and arranges to talk with Tanya. With Bradley having taken home Abi and Lauren, Max finally secures time with his wife where he learns the bitter truth about what happened on the night of his accident. Despite Lauren confessing to Max, Tanya's adamant that she's going to plead guilty – after all, they've deprived Lauren of her childhood for long enough.
When Max returns home from the court, he confides in Bradley that Tanya's in a state over the whole situation. Heading upstairs to see Lauren, he's lost for words when he realises she's disappeared. Legging it across the Square, Max catches sight of his daughter as she walks into the police station…
Meanwhile, Whitney has tracked down the café where her biological mother, Debra, is supposed to be working. When Whitney comes face-to-face with her, Debra's far from warm and is unmoved by anything Whitney has to say. Before long, Debra's cut their reunion short, claiming she has to get back to work. With Whitney's dreams of a loving and caring real mother in tatters, they say an awkward goodbye. Back at home, Bianca's worried about Whitney meeting Debra. However, when Whitney returns home, Tiffany greets her with happiness before Whitney approaches Bianca, saying: "You're my mum."
Elsewhere, Stacey reveals all to Jean about Sean's departure, but Jean doesn't take it too well; Pat's fuming with Janine and throws her out; AND Tiffany threatens Janine when she snatches Terrence off her.
Janine scams Peggy
Airs on Tuesday, January 6 2009 at 19:30 GMT on BBC One
Dot questions Nick as to what time he rolled in at last night, prompting Nick to reveal that he was having lunch with a client. Pat turns up at Dot's to see she's getting on with Nick being home. Later in The Vic, Dot overhears Pat and Peggy discussing Nick and in a bid to prove that her son has changed, Dot invites them both around for tea. Later in the day, Pat and Peggy arrive for Dot's tea party, as does Patrick. They reminisce over old photos and Nick tries to reassure his ma's old friends that he's changed. However, when Dot closes the door after the get together, Nick pours himself a glass of whisky, despite his protestations earlier in the day that he was on the wagon.
Confronting her son about his lies, Nick's blunt with her and asks where her money is. He turns the room upside down and eventually storms out, threatening: "Say goodbye to your granddaughter, 'cause you ain't never seeing her again." Dot is left devastated. Returning to pack his bags, he confesses what he's really been up to for the last few years, before issuing Dot an ultimatum: Dotty or the money.
Meanwhile, Peggy is shocked when Janine parades around the upstairs of The Vic in her skimpy bed clothes. Billy reveals that she has nowhere else to go, but Peggy's adamant – she doesn't want Janine around. After an ear-bashing both Pat and Peggy, she decides it's time to move on and her ears are soon pricked when she hears Denise talking about Lucas's sudden departure and an empty flat. Returning to The Vic to collect her belongings, she tells Billy that the rest of the family treat him like a second class citizen and that he should move in with her. Describing a place which should be rent free, Billy's high hopes are dashed when Janine asks him if he or Jay know how to pick a lock. Later, after they've unpacked their belongings, Janine returns home with a takeaway and champagne – bought with Peggy's credit card!
Elsewhere, Peggy tells Billy he can return to The Vic at any time; Max tries to get to see Lauren and he's enraged when Jack turns up at the station; Tanya blames Max for them ruining Lauren's childhood; Jean continues to struggle with Sean's departure; Stacey tells Callum that she and her mum are better off alone; and seeing Denise's worry, Zainab calls Lucas.
Jay falls foul of Janine's faud
Airs on Thursday, January 8 2009 at 19:30 GMT on BBC One
Jean's refusing to leave her bed and while Stacey tries to coax her mother downstairs, Callum moans to Danielle that Stacey doesn't seem to be able to do anything without Jean being there. As Callum and Stacey talk about the situation, she admits that she's not great with the whole 'family thing'. Callum suggests that they go to his for a while but before they're out the door, Jean calls for Stacey. When Callum suggests that Jean will be OK, Stacey sees red and throws a bag of doughnuts at him.
Danielle offers to stay with Jean for a while, but a hesitant Stacey doesn't trust her with her mum. She eventually agrees and leaves to run an errand. As Danielle's fiddling with the heater, the phone rings. She's excited when she answers and hears Ronnie's voice, but is more annoyed when she realises that she's only asking her to work. However, she remembers that she agreed to look after Jean, but Jean suggests that she goes for it. A duvet ends up being thrown over the heater and Stacey returns just before the fire takes hold. When Danielle appears, she's livid with her careless attitude with Jean and throws her out.
Meanwhile, Billy's uneasy about the stuffed cat in the house – he thinks it's staring at him. As Peggy hands Janine a manky vase as a housewarming gift, she sees a wide-screen TV being moved into her new flat. Jay can't contain his delight when he sees the latest addition to the flat. At The Vic, Peggy receives a phone call from her credit card company to check if she's just made a £1,200 purchase. She immediately searches for her handbag. Across the Square in the flat, Janine slyly slips Peggy's credit card in Jay's back pocket. Billy's livid when Jay turns out his pockets.
Elsewhere, Kendra (the solicitor) informs Tanya that her plea change has been accepted by the CPS but suggests that she'll also be re-arrested for perverting the course of justice; Lauren and her social worker inform Max that she's being taken into foster care; Danielle's crushed when he one-night stand Paul gives her the brush-off at the club; Denise is outraged to hear that Zainab called Lucas; and Libby asks Tamwar for a favour.

He then heads into the café and suggests to Jane that Lauren move in with them for a while. Meanwhile, a reluctant Ronnie agrees to give Danielle an interview for the barmaid job at R&R. Determined to make it a tall order, Ronnie asks her to talk about herself, before being quizzed about cocktail ingredients. Following the interview, Ronnie decides to give Danielle some friendly advice – to leave Walford and return to home to Telford.
