Victoria’s (Isabel Hodgins) nightmares continue, but when Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) suggests a trip to a psychiatrist, Victoria is immediately angry that Diane thinks her crazy. Worried for Victoria, Daz (Luke Tittensor) tells Diane about her believing she saw a body in the lake. Later, he talks to Victoria and confesses that the kiss was mutual and she’s not going crazy. As Victoria gets her hopes up Daz qualifies his remark by saying that they’re like brother and sister and that nothing could happen between them. Victoria is pacified and Daz promises to inspect the lake with her. When they try to leave Diane enters with the shrink but feeling betrayed by Daz, Victoria refuses to see her claiming she made the body up for attention. Meanwhile, when Rodney (Patrick Mower) dodges questions about the financial windfall from the shoot, Zak (Steve Halliwell) and Jamie (Alex Carter) hold the pheasants hostage until he splits the profits fairly. As Rodney stands firm, Zak threatens to kill and sell the birds if he doesn’t comply. With his punters growing restless, Rodney reluctantly agrees but is cheered up by the end of the evening when one of the female guests promises to meet with him tomorrow. With the event a complete success, Rodney and Jamie plan more of the same before Home Farm is sold. Elsewhere, Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) is horrified when Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) decides to go on an 18-30 holiday alone and produces a horde of newspaper articles detailing horror stories from similar vacations. Gennie manages to get Brenda off her back by reminding her of Terry’s imminent return from Morocco. Brenda is deflated however to learn that Terry isn’t coming back, he’s staying in Morocco to help Jean who’s been in an accident and broken her leg. Brenda can’t help being suspicious of Jean’s motives and wonders if her injury is genuine.

Tuesday 30 December

Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) is still angry with Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) for calling the shrink but Daz (Luke Tittensor) manages to coax her outside when she locks herself away. Daz reaffirms his belief in Victoria’s story about the body in the lake and they head off to investigate. Daz pokes around the water with a stick and makes a joke of their investigation, upsetting Victoria in the process. However as they turn to leave Daz hears the unmistakable sound of disturbed water and whirls round. The youngsters are horrified to see a body rise to the surface. Victoria is in pieces as she’s taken back to the village and interviewed by police officers. Meanwhile, Eli (Joseph Gilgun) is alarmed to find Jasmine (Jenna-Louise Coleman) loitering by the lake and when she demands they move Shane’s body, Eli can’t believe she’s serious. Trying to calm her nerves, Eli swishes around in the lake with a stick, proving that Shane’s corpse remains in its watery grave. They leave, but when Jasmine turns up for her shift at the Woolpack, Daz immediately relays the news about the body being discovered. Later, Eli and Debbie try to keep a near hysterical Jasmine calm when Donna arrives to break the news that the body has been identified as Shane. Also, Lily (Anne Charleston) is suspicious when she spots Leyla (Rokhsaneh Ghawam-Shahidi) coming out of the factory on a day off. Lily forces Leyla into having a cup of tea in the factory and notices a rather large pile of work at Leyla’s desk. They begin to get on well until Leyla tries to leave, snatching the work from Lily’s hands. Though Leyla lies that she’s doing overtime for Pollard, Lily sees through her and demands the truth. Leyla admits to Lily that she is making a little money on the side by selling curtains direct to a contact. Impressed Lily starts back at work and makes it clear she is keen to be involved in her enterprise.

Wednesday 31 December

Marlon (Mark Charnock) presents Donna (Verity Rushworth) with an infinity ring on her birthday but her mind is still on Ross. The police discover that Shane was struck over the head several times before and after death but there is little DNA evidence due to the length of time the body was in the water. Donna is called to the station to make a statement and the line of questioning soon turns to Ross and whether her partner was aware of the situation with the MacFarlanes. Donna dismisses it and is allowed to leave. Back at home, Marlon and Donna celebrate her birthday but is stopped in her tracks when Marlon asks whether Ross will return to make a statement. Elsewhere, Jasmine (Jenna-Louise Coleman) is wracked with worry that a clue will emerge to lead the police to discover her guilt. The police summon her to the station and she’s grateful to be accompanied by Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) and Ashley (John Middleton). Under questioning, Jasmine is shaky but the investigating officer put the nerves down to her close ties with Shane. She becomes more emotional and blurts out that Shane is dead because of her. Again her comments are misinterpreted by the officer and Jasmine escapes having come so close to confessing the truth. Debbie (Charley Webb) is pleased to hear that Jasmine managed to stick to the story and confident that the heat is now on the MacFarlanes. At the Woolpack it seems as though there will be little uptake for their New Year’s celebrations. In order to spark some enthusiasm Val (Charlie Hardwick) spreads the word that they’re holding a toga party. When some of the villagers moan that they can’t afford the white linen costumes that Val has demanded for the dress code, Sam (James Hooton) comes up with an idea. He steals a bag full of bed sheets from the B&B. As the party gets going Val turns up in an elaborate costume, dragging an embarrassed Pollard (Chris Chittell) behind her, while Paddy (Dominic Brunt) arrives in his sports gear, having misheard Marlon and assumed it was a yoga party. Jamie (Alex Carter) spots the Dingles wearing his bed linen and privately plots his revenge.

Thursday 1 January

Donna (Verity Rushworth) worries for Ross when a colleague mentions that his transfer has prompted rumours he was also involved with the MacFarlanes. When word gets out that Ross and Shane had had a fight on the last day he was seen alive, Paddy (Dominic Brunt) urges Donna to tell Marlon the truth before it all comes out. She’s furious when Paddy’s thoughts turn back to Ross and consider whether his cousin was capable of murder. Desperate for another solution to her dilemma Donna wonders whether she can ask her colleagues to cover the affair up. As she and Paddy argue an oblivious Marlon (Mark Charnock) enters. Donna tells her shell-shocked husband that she had an affair with Ross. Marlon rails at her for telling him then, in meltdown, leaves. Meanwhile, Val (Charlie Hardwick) confronts Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) about her New Year and the youngster confesses she was at a party. Val is satisfied when told that nothing happened between Victoria and Daz (Luke Tittensor). Later on Victoria and Daz overhear Scarlett (Kelsey-Beth Crossley) questioning Victoria’s state of mind and he comforts her with a hug. When Daz blows off Scarlett to spend time with her Victoria is delighted. However, after the pair spend the afternoon at the January sales Val is uncomfortable at Daz and Victoria’s growing closeness. Elsewhere, Lily (Anne Charleston) finds out that Leyla (Rokhsaneh Ghawam-Shahidi) is sleeping rough in the factory. She also admits that the moonlighting story was a lie. Feeling for her, Lily offers Leyla a room at Edna’s (Shirley Stelfox) to the consternation of her sister. Lily and Edna fall out after an argument about the new living arrangements so Lily moves back in with Pearl (Meg Johnson) bringing Leyla along with her.

Friday 2 January

Paddy (Dominic Brunt) visits a broken Marlon (Mark Charnock) who says that he’d had suspicions about the affair for months. Despite Marlon’s reservations Paddy urges him to speak with Donna (Verity Rushworth). Donna tells all to Marlon but accidentally lets slip that she was in love with Ross. Marlon despairs that he could have lived with a mistake but not knowing his wife loves Ross. As Marlon takes this in Donna also reveals that Shane knew about the affair and that prompted the altercation between him and Ross. Distraught, Marlon tells the police that Ross was having an affair with his wife and that Shane knew about it and was blackmailing them. He goes on to assert that is why Ross killed Shane. Carl (Tom Lister) is frustrated when Jimmy (Nick Miles) fails to show enthusiasm for a meeting to resurrect their business. After the bank refuse to lend Carl any money he warns Jimmy that they need to pull themselves together if they’re to salvage any sort of reputation. With the problems mounting up Lexi (Sally Oliver) advises Carl to arrange Matthew’s burial in order to give Jimmy some closure. Carl tells Jimmy that the sooner Matthew is buried the better. Meanwhile, Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) helps Daz (Luke Tittensor) out at the factory, leaving Scarlett (Kelsey-Beth Crossley) feeling sidelined. After being forced to share lunch with Victoria, Scarlett prepares for a cosy night with Daz watching a DVD only for Victoria to interrupt once more. She happily plays gooseberry while Scarlett grows more and more frustrated. When Daz heads to the Woolpack to get some supplies Val (Charlie Hardwick) warns him that if she spots even a hint of Victoria falling for him she will go straight to Diane (Elizabeth Estensen).
