Derrick Errol Evans (born 1952), better known as "Mr Motivator", is a Jamaican exercise instructor most famous for his appearances on the UK breakfast television show GMTV in the early 1990s. He would perform fitness routines in highly coloured outfits which became his trademark.
Evans was born 2000 feet up in Pike, Jamaica. He then moved to the UK in 1961. After a number of years of being educated in the UK, he eventually found fame on British television as Mr. Motivator, promoting health and fitness as a way of life. Millions bought into his belief and his videos. The quality of the production of these videos propelled the Bums Legs and Tums (BLT) series to the very top of the UK video charts. Now in his fifties, demand for him to do personal appearances, sales conferences, team building and motivational talks are still high on Mr Motivator's agenda. He is famous for his catchphrase 'Get off yo fat ass!' often accompanied by an angry face. Promoting various products and projects are all part of his day-to-day work.
At the beginning of 2007 he made a comeback to TV advertising with his all new BLT workout. The new exercise video which focuses on the bums legs and tums areas and combines dance steps and original music to create a party style atmosphere.
In 2008 he begun to make more and more appearances, particularly in the UK, including a special club night at Jesters Nightclub part of the Clowns Winebar and Jesters Nightclub complex, in Southampton, famous with the students from the University of Southampton.
He has released a number of fitness videos including Mr. Motivator's 10 Minute BLTs, Mr. Motivator's 10 Minute Workouts, Body Conditioner: Shot in Barbados, BLT2: Shot in Australia, and Bums Legs & Tums. He still holds the record for most fitness DVD sales in the UK ever.[citation needed]
