DYNASTY star Stephanie Beacham nets Corrie’s resident intellectual Ken Barlow — by rescuing his dog from a river.

Stephanie, 61, who found fame as bitchy Sable Colby in the glitzy US soap, stars as Martha Fraser and she swiftly grabs the attention of Ken (William Roache).

The pair meet when Ken is walking mother-in-law Blanche Hunt’s mutt Eccles. When the dog falls in, Martha fishes him out.

A source said: “It’s lust at first sight for Ken. When he finds out Martha likes Radio 4, he’s smitten.”

No doubt he’ll be in the doghouse when wife Deirdre finds out.

CORRIE’S Ken Barlow smooches by a canal with glamorous Martha Fraser – in a scene set to cause argy barge-y with wife Deirdre.

In fact the rat, played by William Roache, has sunk even further – by telling houseboat dweller Martha (ex-Dynasty star Stephanie Beacham) that his missus is DEAD.

She invites him aboard for late-night coffee. But at the last minute guilty Ken opts for a quick snog and jumps ship. That doesn’t get him out of hot water with Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride).

He gets home to find she’s thrown his dinner in the bin.

An insider said: “Ken’s in for a dilemma over telling Martha the truth. It will explode in his face when the two women find out.”
