A Lost casting call for an Arabic-speaking father and his sons has led to speculation that Sayid's upbringing will be explored in a forthcoming episode.
The character, played by English actor Naveen Andrews, will reportedly be the focus of this season's tenth episode, which starts filming this week.
Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello said that a father and his 12 and 8-year-old sons are needed for the series, and all of them must be fluent in Arabic.
He said: "Wouldn't a logical assumption be that the hotheaded dad is Sayid's pop and the older boy, a sensitive type who's painfully aware that he lets down his formidable paterfamilias, is the future assassin himself?"
Andrews recently praised the show's use of flashforwards in its fourth season, telling DS: "It's a challenge to be able to play a character in the present and then zoom ahead to a point when they may have undergone great changes."
