CORRIE’S flabby cabbies go to war in a bid to win a £200 bet in the New Year.

Steve McDonald and Lloyd Mullaney go head-to-head in a weight-loss challenge.

The battle starts after the lardy lads trade insults over their bulging guts.

And they have a £200 wager on which of them can shed the most weight by Valentine’s Day.

Lloyd (Craig Charles, 44) says his mate looks like “an overfed hamster”.

Steve (Simon Gregson, 34) responds by calling his rival a “fat pie-belly”.

And when Steve’s mum Liz (Bev Callard, 51) calls them both “chubby chops” it is the final straw.

Steve weighs in at more than 13 stone, justifying his size by saying he is taller and more heavily-boned.

But Lloyd quips: “Well these are my heavy shoes, so keep talking fat man.” And Lloyd gets off to a flier when Liz suggests he goes to exercise classes – a mixture of salsa dancing and aerobics – with her three times a week.

A Corrie insider said: “Slimming and dieting are all the rage after Christmas following the seasonal excesses.

“The writers are hoping it will encourage viewers to take up the same challenge and become fitter and healthier.”

Hilarious! I love Steve. Soaps are too serious these days. We all need a laugh.
