SCI-FI bestseller Day Of The Triffids is to be adapted by the BBC once more — to take it into the 21st century.
The drama, which sees deadly moving plants attempt to wipe out humans, will be given a modern twist by ER and Wire In The Blood writer Patrick Harbinson.
The Beeb say the drama will be set in 2011 and follow botanist hero Bill Masen’s progress as he hunts for new fossil fuels after the world exhausts the supply.
Classic
Bill thinks the Triffids could be an alternative source of oil — but they prove to be a curse when they breed.
The drama will be shown in two 90-minute episodes next year. The 1951 book, by John Wyndham, has been adapted by BBC TV five times — most recently in 1981.
It is not yet known who will take the lead roles for the BBC1 show.
Head of Drama for BBC Wales Julie Gardner said: “The Day Of The Triffids is a classic title.
“We hope to attract a legion of fans — and give nightmares to a new generation of viewers.”
I am looking forward to this :cheer:
