To whet your appetite for the long-awaited seventh season of 24 in January, Jack is back in a special two-hour prequel movie.
Here are ten things I can tell you about 24: Redemption:
1. The title is an important one. When we rejoin Jack, he's in the (fictional) African country of Sangala helping old friend Carl (Robert Carlyle) look after a bunch of local kids.
2. Jack has been travelling around the world for the last year, dodging a subpoena to appear at a Senate hearing for his "unconventional" modus operandi over the years.
3. The events still take place in real time, between the hours of 3pm and 5pm (African timezone).
4. Back in the US, the first female President, Allison Taylor, is about to be inaugurated.
5. The outgoing President, Noah Daniels, isn't happy about being replaced. He attempts to thwart Allison's first few hours in office by ordering that the US embassy in Sangala be closed, having learned that a military coup is imminent. Madam President is not pleased.
6. Meanwhile her son Roger becomes involved in a terror plot when his erratic friend Chris comes to him for help. This story thread also marks the first appearance of Jon Voight as the villainous Jonas Hodges.
7. Tom Lennox is back.
8. The first 40 minutes or so are quite plodding, but then BANG! The action really gets underway and the Jack of old is back.
9. CTU is out (and indeed, won't be back in season seven, either). In this movie there's no Chloe and no Bill Buchanan.
10. Never trust your chauffeur.
24: Redemption airs Sunday at 8pm on Fox in the US and next Monday at 10pm on Sky1 in the UK.
