View Full Version : The X Factor Live - 7 - Songs by Take That
I am soo looking forward to this theme. :cheer: Not so keen on SAME DIFFERENCE allegedly guest staring. :( But looking forward to see Rhydian again. :)
Grr why are they having another crap theme? This week's was great as it was so varied, but next week - argh! I don't see why some of the more talented acts have to lower their standards and be made to peform such crap.
:cheer: Great theme!
Not keen on Rhydian

yeah, they could have just said 'songs from the 90s', but i'm guessing take that wouldn't like it!
i bet Eoghan is regretting singing Could It Be Magic a couple of weeks ago, he can't sing it again!

I don't like the themes being so specific. I wish they would make them more general, so each act had more of a varied choice on what they want to sing.
The only thing I dont like when they make it so general though is I never know half of the songs!

the only thing is if they gave them a free rein on the types of songs some of them would play safe all the time with songs they are good at, at least this way it keeps it varied and shows whether they can sing a wide range of music.

Take That have been forced to pre-record their appearance for Saturday's X Factor because they had already signed to sing on another show.
The group recorded their performance of new single 'Greatest Day' in advance to allow them to appear on another ITV programme in Manchester.
X Factor bosses will inform viewers that the performance is not live in order to avoid possible criticism.
"Originally the idea was to insert the pre-recorded performance into X Factor and make it seem like it was live," a source told The Sun.
"But with all the TV fakery and voting scandals, the producers decided it’s best to come clean."
JLS will perform 'Back For Good' on the Take That-themed week, while Rachel Hylton will cover 'Rule The World'.

Back for Good and Rule The World are two of my fav TT songs i really feel they are going to be butchered :thumbsdow
Rule The World is the only Take That song that I like, I just hope Rachel pulls it off. I think she will you know.

I love that song too and I don't think she will pull it off... I would love to see Eoghan do Shine and I can only imagine what song Diana is going to ruin.

IMO Rachel will butcher Rule the World. Eoghan could sing Back For Good. God knows what Diana will sing - her voice is really annoying me now! Alexandra could sing any of the songs, probably. Really liking JLS at the moment, but I hope Louis doesn't make them cheesy

Take That sing the cheesiest crap ever, so it's going to mean that talented artists are going to have to lower their standards and sing total pap. Hate these themes this year - stupid.

Well at least they are being honest. I love Take that, cant wait

The song choices for Saturday's X Factor have been revealed.
The contestants will be singing classic songs by reformed boyband Take That, who will also perform their latest single 'Greatest Day' for the ITV1 show.
Speaking to Chris Moyles on Radio 1's Breakfast Show, Louis Walsh confirmed that his act JLS would be covering 'Back For Good'.
Walsh had hoped that JLS, his only remaining act, would perform 'Rule The World' but Dannii Minogue managed to secure the song for her act Rachel Hylton.
He also confirmed that Eoghan Quigg will sing 'Never Forget' and Alexandra Burke will perform 'Relight My Fire'.
The judge added that Diana Vickers would probably be performing 'Patience', but criticised her performance last week.
When asked whether he thought Ruth Lorenzo could win, Walsh replied that it was unlikely as she is "Spanish".
DIANA Vickers has had an offer she will Never Forget from Gary Barlow.
The Take That singer told the 17-year-old that if Simon Cowell didn’t sign her then he would.
Diana – who is mentored by Cheryl Cole on the show – got a confidence boost after meeting Gary and Mark Owen this week.
But she is still said to be feeling the pressure after a disappointing performance last week and is worried about ending up in the bottom two.
Saturday’s show will see appearances from Take That and last year’s contestants Rhydian and Same Difference.
Tune in to the X Factor on Saturday, November 22 at 7.20pm and the results show at 9.35pm on ITV1.
TONED X Factor totty JLS were warned by Take That to curb their junk food habit before they end up podgy.
The Manchester group, who were giving JLS a master class for this Saturday's show, told the young lads that it's only too easy to gorge on fatty foods, such as their beloved Nando's take-aways, rather than healthy salads and soups.
Gary, who picked the song JLS are singing on Saturday, advised the boys to look out for each other and keep healthy.
Saturday’s show will see appearances from Take That and last year’s contestants Rhydian and Same Difference.
RUTH Lorenzo got a belated birthday treat when her childhood heroes Take That sang to her in Spanish.
The reformed man band serenaded the Spanish siren with a blast of the celebration song after they discovered that the emotional brunette had written them a letter as a child.
26-year-old Ruth penned the note aged nine and begged the boys' in Spanish to play at her birthday party. But the band never replied to her pleas.
However, Ruth's dreams came true when the 'hot' group sang to her at the master class for this week's show.

that's a bit racist!
What has her Nationality got to do with winning a singing contest anyway? Or is the X Factor just for British contestants?

i think ruth will blow it this week as she can only sing high notes and when trying to sing low notes its all flat, take that dont exactly offer a lot of power ballads lol,

all depends on what they sing- and if they murder it, if rachel ruins rule the world (one of TT's best) she'll be going home
Rachel Hylton has vowed not to let negative press affect her performance on this week's X Factor.
The North London contestant was told to "sing like she has won" when she met Take That's Gary Barlow and Mark Owen during rehearsals.
A show insider said: "Rachel has turned a corner in the last week and is really upbeat and happy, deciding not to let all the negative press stories about her knock her confidence anymore."
Ofcom is currently investigating complaints lodged after Hylton made what was apparently a 'gun gesture' at Daniel Evans as the pair headed into last week's sing-off.
Barlow was said to be "blown away" by Hylton's performance in rehearsals, while Owen advised the 26-year-old to forget everything else and simply enjoy the show.
Whats Ruth singing this week?
Ruth Lorenzo has admitted that she was starstruck when she met her childhood crushes Take That during this week's X Factor masterclass.
"My god, it must have been one of the best experiences ever because I met Gary and Mark [Owen]," she said on her video blog.
"When I was younger, I wrote a letter to them asking them to come and sing for me on my birthday. I wrote it in Spanish and I'm not even sure if I sent it to the right address."
She continued: "Standing there in front of them, I was, 'You're so hot'. When I went in the room, I said, 'Please, can I have a kiss?' When I left I needed another kiss before I went as well!"
Lorenzo also revealed that the boyband were impressed by her rock interpretation of one of their songs, which she will perform on Saturday's live show.
"I'm going to take their song and rock it up a little bit and they said they liked the idea," said the Spanish singer.
"They said, 'Singing other people's songs isn't about singing like other people, it's about making songs your own and singing your own way'. They're excited to see what happens with their song."
[B]Must be a secret which song she will be singing.

Ruth gave the best performance of the night in my opinion. Simply outstanding and the annoying thing is that she's so underrated.
I can't believe how much the judges praise Eoghan.. was it me or were the backing singers just brought in to disguise the fact that he couldn't hit the high notes? but apparently it was the best performance of the night... oh well, he'll be safe as he was on last.
Alexandra was brilliant also, Rachel, JLS and Diana were average.. I am slowly going off Diana unfortunately

i know, he was terrible! i have no idea why they constantly rave about him, yes he can sing but so can a lot of boys- there's nothing special about him whatsoever!
i thought tonight's show was pretty rubbish acutally, Alexandra was the only one who was good and it just went downhill from there. everyone just sang drippy ballads- where was Back For Good? Pray? Shine?!

re- alex's styling
alex = alien???????????
Very disappointed with Dannii crying all of a sudden - I quite like her but she should have been more professional. Whatever went on when and how the songs were chosen, that should have been discussed before or after the show, not during it. Anyway, I am glad Rachel went, she was not the best last night.
The thing about Danni crying, I mean it couldnt have been just over the song, cos It wasnt harsh or anything, yes louis was wrong but he didnt say it in a harsh way we all know how louis is. I think Danni crying was a mixture of things as shes had a few problems with Rachel
Im glad Rachel has gone, I think she was good tonight, but I just dont like the sound of her first and to be fair how many times in the bottom 2? So she was right to go.

Rachel was a talent but it was too much about her personal life so it was right she went. I fear for Ruth next week which will be a shame as she's so fantastic. Have to say Diana's starting to grate, hope the final is JLS, Alexandra and Ruth with Alexandra to win.
'X Factor' final 6: What the judges said
The remaining six X Factor participants took to the stage to perform Take That songs on last night's episode.
Here's what the judges had to say:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alexandra Burke - 'Relight My Fire'
Louis: "You are what The X Factor is all about. You are young, talented and you didn't copy the original. People at home don't know your amazing personality; I want you in the final! I think you're the best female singer we have had since Leona."
Simon: "I don't think that you have enough credit about what an incredible performer you are. We don't have many performers like you. You're 19 years old, I hope you're safe. That's the best version of that performance I've heard."
Dannii: "You really warmed up halfway through. You looked really nervous because it's the first performance."
Cheryl: "You are on fire tonight! You looked like you thoroughly enjoyed yourself and I am so proud of you!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ruth Lorenzo - 'Love Ain't Here Anymore'
Louis: "You are a true rock chick! That was a power house performance. I can't fault you."
Dannii: "I can't imagine anyone else taking a Take That song and doing that to it! I'm so proud of you."
Simon: "I've got to say normally you are better in the sing-off as you choose a song that suits you, but this time I thought it was absolutely sensational. If Dannii chose the song, it was a brilliant song for you. You did it brilliantly, best performance to date."
Cheryl: "I'm glad you took Gary [Barlow]'s advice as it was nice we heard the softer side of your voice. What outstandingly amazes me about you, we are the same age and you have moved to another country and you're learning a new culture, living in a house with strangers. I find you truly inspirational."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JLS - 'Million Love Songs'
Dannii: "I enjoy you guys, you're all grown up from the start of the show. I've wanted to see you in this competition. There were no songs stolen, you wanted this one!"
Cheryl: "I missed a bit of the chemistry tonight, you normally have a bit of banter but you guys were under the most pressure. Vocally, together, it's the best you've done."
Simon: "This song was changed 24 hours ago because of a mix up between you and Louis. But you absolutely pulled it together. You looked like you have been together for a long time. It was authentic, a brilliant choice of song and you are one of the best groups we've had."
Louis: "I am in charge of JLS. I think you're the first band that can win The X Factor. Dannii, you did nick their song!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rachel Hylton - 'Rule The World'
Louis: "I have to say, great song choice. You're a bit of a lose cannon on the show, but you look happy and you have soul."
Cheryl: "It's a great song choice, it's nice to hear a softer side to your voice. You actually are a soul singer, that's what you need to do for the rest of the competition. But I really enjoyed it."
Dannii: "I would never ever chose anyone else's songs, I had all the right to chose that song!"
Simon: "Apart from the insane acrobatics, it was actually a very good performance. We do take it in turns with songs, you have to protect your artist. If you don't like it, Louis, tough!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Diana Vickers - 'Patience'
Louis: "That is my favourite Take That song, you made it your own. You sounded contemporary, and you have a great recording voice. There is a lot of competition; there are a few spot on girls."
Dannii: "You look the best you have ever looked, and it's so nice to see you happy at the end!"
Cheryl: "I'm so glad you're back, Gary gave you a booster, and I thank him for that. You look absolutely gorgeous tonight."
Simon: "There were some shaky moments, but in a weird way that's what makes it great. We will not be accepting Gary's kind offer for a recording contract. I adore you but I think you were given an impossible song. I hope you're back next week!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eoghan Quigg - 'Never Forget'
Louis: "Every week you walk out on stage and you have no fear. You have everything going for you, you have Irish charm and you have youth. To me you're like FedEx, you always deliver!"
Dannii: "Best performance yet, and one of the best of the night."
Cheryl: "What a great ending, glad you sung the high notes. After that performance, I think I'm in love with you!"
Simon: "In my opinion, it was one of the best performances of the night because it was believable. It was a brilliant choice of song, if I do say so myself! You took complete control, you had personality and you proved you are a popstar."

I really like Diana, but past few weeks she's been rubbish, and is now starting to grate on me too. Like someone said before.. think it was Siobhan.. she sings out of her nose.. it's not really a nice sound tbh. I think she's a lovely person though. She probs be in the final 2, she has a huge fanbase.

who do you think will go next then?
thats the thing, who do I think will go next? Im not sure, I mean Ruth has been in the bottom 2, twice hasnt she I think? she might be there again as she tends to go up and down in terms of the public vote
Not that rachels gone it really has got to the point where I dont know who will go.
Plus theres like loads of people I like in there now, but there some people who I like but dont really want to win, I feel so mean its unfair

whats the theme next week?
American Pop Classics is the theme for next week.
Alexandra and Ruth were the best on Saturday night but then again they always are - i really hope they are in the final
Diana butchered Patience and she looks terrible - whoever is her stylist should be sacked and i think she needs to clue her got damn hand to her side - i really hope she goes next
JLS were also terrible at the TT song but were good at their own song. BTW why was there a mix up with Louis about the song?
I'm glad Rachel went

Diana was terrible - why dont the judges ever give her bad comments
I feel like to show is being built around a win for Diana and Cheryl which is wrong
Ruth was brillant she has to be in the final
I really felt sorry for Dannii on Saturday. You could see she was upset about what Louis had said. He is so vindictive. He only said it so the fans would think she had cheated and then not vote for her act and look what happened Rachel went.
Im sorry but the best singers on the night were Rachel, Eoghan and Ruth. Rachel should not have gone.
I thought that Alex and JLS should have been in the bottom.
Louis and JLS knew that Dannii had first pick of the songs that week and still chose to ignore the fact that she had in fact chose that song and they kept rehersing it until the day before the show when they changed to another song. Their vocals and song was rubbish and that was entirely their own fault. Dannii did not cheat. Just because Louis wanted that song doesnt mean that he should get it. Dannii had first pick of the songs and chose it so its tuff.

I want the rest of the show to go like this...
5th. Eoghan
4th. JLS
3rd. Diana
2nd. Alexandra
1st. Ruth
but I think it will end up being..
5th. JLS
4th. Ruth
3rd. Alexandra
2nd. Diana
1st. Eoghan
It is going to be very unpredictable though..out of all of them that are left, Ruth and Alexandra are my favourites and I really would like one of them to win. I hope Diana gets to the final though as well because despite her having two poor performances (in my opinion) I did like her at the beginning but I think I've found her performances too repetitive now.
LOL bit extreme abs
 I cant help it! Its just so tense its hard to watch :p
Same Difference have called Diana Vickers "standoffish" after meeting her backstage at The X Factor.
The brother/sister duo spent time with this year's X Factor final six before performing on the show on November 22.
"We gave everyone a rose and a card backstage just to say good luck, because Leona did that for us last year and we thought it was really sweet," Sarah Smith told DS.
"Alexandra came over and just started screaming and hugging us, it was mental."
However, they were disappointed by the reception they were given by 19-year-old Vickers, who has since progressed to the semi-finals of the ITV1 singing contest.
"Diana I have to say was a bit quiet and standoffish," Sean Smith said. "She certainly didn't do anything bad, but she didn't show us the same love everyone else did."
Sarah added: "Maybe she's a bit cool for school?"
[B]Maybe she just does not like them
*-Rooney-*
01-12-2008, 15:25
mabe she doesnt like them but when someone is nice to you and wishing you luck you could at least look like you are grateful for there good wishes, its only common curtisy
They say she did not do anything bad but did not show them the same love as the others did - so she probably thanked them but did not scream and hug them like Alexandra. Nothing wrong with that, not everybody is extrovert and tactile.
