Monday 24th November

Katie (Sammy Winward) feels no sympathy for Andy (Kelvin Fletcher), who’s sporting a shiner from Daz’s (Luke Tittensor) punch. She warns him to straighten out or risk losing everything. Katie decides to pay a visit to Butlers, but fails to convince Jo (Roxanne Pallett) to allow Andy to see his daughter. Desperate, Andy begs Daz to help him rebuild a relationship with his daughter and he reluctantly agrees. Daz brings Jo and Sarah (Sophia Amber Moore) to the Woolpack to find that Katie has helped Andy to organise a special nativity performance. After everything goes well, Andy misreads Katie’s kindness and kisses her, in front of an unseen Daz. Katie is horrified but Andy is sure he didn’t misread the signals and calls her a tease. Katie is hurt by Andy‘s coldness, while Daz is in turmoil after what he’s seen.

Meanwhile, Lily (Anne Charleston) is cagey around her friends when a letter arrives from the hospital. She’s still preoccupied when Edna (Shirley Stelfox) informs her that they have the money to pay back Lily’s debt, unaware that it’s her sister’s life savings. Lily begins to mend the wounds of betrayal by paying her friends back, but goes too far in Edna’s eyes by paying for drinks on her credit card as well. The drinks continue to flow and Rodney (Patrick Mower) has to take Lily to one side for an explanation of her frivolous behaviour. Rodney is concerned when Lily refuses to entertain the idea of booking her operation.

Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) pays dearly for his outburst when Katie (Sammy Winward) terminates his employment. Over at Butlers, Daz (Luke Tittensor) can’t contain his anguish any longer and tells a stunned Jo (Roxanne Pallett) about the kiss. Later, Jo can’t mask her hurt when Katie decides to pay a visit, assuming her old enemy has come to gloat. Katie tries to explain what happened but Jo is inconsolable. Believing that she’s a victim of karma, Jo struggles to listen to Katie’s protestations that nothing’s going on. With emotions running high the girls end up having a heart to heart and Katie sympathises when Jo admits that she wants to move on but can’t bear to leave Sarah.

Meanwhile, Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) receives the shock of her life when she spots a shadowy figure sleeping on the sofa at Connelton. Her screams alert Bob (Tony Audenshaw) and Terry (Billy Hartman) who are bemused to see that it’s Jamie (Alex Carter) who has returned home. After avoiding the issue for most of the morning, Bob asks the question if Jamie has split from Louise. Jamie flatly denies this and reveals that he came home to escape from snakes and creepy crawlies that populate Australia. Despite his explanation, Bob and Terry sense something is wrong and vow to get to the bottom of it.

Also, Pollard (Chris Chittell) and David (Matthew Wolfenden) are gleeful when it appears the choir are about to quit, following a newspaper article championing another choir. However, Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) refuses to lie down and inspires the choir by making them watch ‘Sister Act 2’. With the villagers back on side, Nicola realises if they are going to win they need a strong soloist to lead the group and fast. Later in the pub, Pollard and David are dismayed to hear from Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) that Nicola has put her heart and soul into preparing the choir for victory.

Wednesday 26 November

Pollard (Chris Chittell) and David (Matthew Wolfenden) struggle to comprehend why Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) is ignoring all her natural instincts in order to help people. Desperate to turn her back to the dark side, David shows Nicola some information on her dream home, which they could afford with the profits from the church. Nicola is torn, but when visiting David at the factory later, she overhears Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) singing. Shocked at her fantastic voice, Nicola makes Gennie the soloist in the choir. After a rousing rendition of ‘Oh Happy Day’ the choir have been given a new lease of life. Their only problem is that Gennie refuses to sing in public, insisting on performing from a separate room.

At Butlers, Jo (Roxanne Pallett) explains to Daz (Luke Tittensor) about the situation with Katie and Andy. When Mick (Tony Haygarth) turns up for a shift at the farm, an emotional Jo unburdens to him about her broken life. It’s clear that she’s torn between leaving the village and being there for Sarah (Sophia Amber Moore). Later, after hearing Sarah call her ‘mummy’ Jo is determined to stay in the village when she realises that Sarah truly needs to be there.

Also, Rodney (Patrick Mower) suggests that Marlon (Mark Charnock) expand his range of culinary opportunities. Thoughtful, Marlon decides to distribute flyers advertising her services as an occasional chef. When Rodney later tells him that an event at Home Farm was successful, earning Marlon future bookings it seems like he can do no wrong. Speaking to Paddy (Dominic Brunt), Marlon vows to make a go of a catering company to impress Donna.

Donna (Verity Rushworth) returns and promises Ross (Samuel Anderson) that she will tell Marlon (Mark Charnock) their marriage is over. Marlon is thrilled to have his wife home and Donna has to cover when he picks up on her lack of enthusiasm. When Marlon shows her around his new delivery van for meals, Donna bursts into tears, preparing to tell her husband the truth. However, when they break down after going for a ride in Marlon’s van, Donna can’t break his heart and finds herself kissing Marlon passionately instead. After spending the day with Marlon, Donna informs Ross that she hasn’t been able to do it leaving Ross unsure as to where he stands.

Meanwhile, Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) tries to persuade Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) to rejoin the choir by offering to help with her nerves. After roping in Ashley (John Middleton), who in turns asks Lily (Anne Charleston) to contribute her knowledge of relaxation techniques used to battle arthritis, they set about transforming Gennie. Lily begins with some breathing exercises, but an unimpressed Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) takes over and brings the choir together for some team building. With Gennie still unsure, Nicola and Laurel resort to emotional blackmail and finally persuade their reluctant starlet.

Elsewhere, Bob (Tony Audenshaw) remains convinced that something bad happened between Louise and Jamie (Alex Carter). However, Jamie listens to a voicemail message left on the B&B telephone by Louise. Annoyed that Terry (Billy Hartman) and Bob have been leaving urgent messages for Louise, Jamie intends to give them a piece of his mind. However, when he tries to leave Jamie realises the snake has found it’s way into the B&B and calls Bob for help. Unfortunately for Jamie, Bob’s fear takes hold of him and he deserts his son, returning two hours later with Terry and Brenda (Lesley Dunlop). After Brenda deals with the snake, Jamie admits that he was hounded out of Australia after getting in a fight with the nations favourite celebrity ‘Hoppy the Roo’.

Friday 28 November

Donna (Verity Rushworth) and Ross (Samuel Anderson) arrest a young lad for possession of drugs. Donna realises that it is Aaron (Danny Miller) Chas’ son and calls her to the police station. Meanwhile, an angry and frustrated Ross interrogates Aaron over where the drugs came from but he smartly dodges the questioning. With nobody else getting through to him, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) arrives at the station to be greeted by her sneering son. Getting off with a caution, Aaron resists Chas’ efforts to bond with him and legs it out of her car at some traffic lights.

Also, Ross is upset with Donna’s failed attempt to end her marriage, but she urges him to give her more time. She tells Ross that if he really loves her he will be patient and he agrees. With Ross placated, Donna returns home and sits Marlon (Mark Charnock) on the sofa. As Donna grows more emotional Marlon fears that she is seriously ill. His concern breaks Donna’s heart and she can’t bring herself to break his. Instead, she tells him about Aaron’s situation. Ross struggles to accept the situation but Donna promises they will be together soon.

Shane takes Jasmine to a homeless shelter desperate for her to give up her story on the MacFarlane’s. Delighted that he’s thrown her off the scent, Shane’s mood further improves when he sees the cracks appearing in Debbie and Jasmine’s friendship. Smelling a rat, Debbie guesses what is going on and tells Jasmine her suspicions. Jasmine is uneasy to think she might be right.
