CORRIE star Anne Kirkbride is enjoying a new brush with fame — as a budding artist.
The actress, who plays Deirdre Barlow, is exhibiting her paintings for the first time — and on-screen mum Blanche (Maggie Jones) has already snapped up two.
Thirteen have been painted from photos taken near her holiday home in Spain and are on show at a gallery in BARLOW Moor Road in Didsbury, Manchester. They cost from £100 to £275.
Street hubby Ken (Bill Roache) and other cast members are planning a visit.
Anne, 54, said last night: “I’m so excited. I’ve always thought no one would want to buy them, but I’ve sort of been convinced to give it a go.
“Maggie has got two up in her dressing-room. Bill also says he really likes the pictures.”
Anne, whose dad Jack was a newspaper cartoonist, paints every night to unwind from work. She started only five years ago.
She said: “My whole family are artistic but I always thought that in my case the artistic side came out in the acting.”
