2431: Newt and Lauren are caught out
November 17

Calvin simmers with anger after finding condoms in Carmel's bag. Leo tries to diffuse things, but Calvin's convinced she's up to no good. Lauren remains quiet but knows she has to find Carmel before Calvin does. Meanwhile, Carmel obliviously chats to Mark about his relationship problems fending off an upset Michaela and Myra on the way.

Lauren hurries over to the Dog with Newt to warn Carmel that Calvin's on his way. Carmel's too distressed to listen and Mark sends them packing, just as Calvin walks in to find them deep in conversation. Calvin's perturbed and tells Carmel to come home where they need to talk. Back at the Valentines, Carmel defends her innocent actions and explains the condoms were meant for Lauren.

Furious at Carmel for encouraging Lauren to have underage sex, Calvin tells Carmel to pack her bags and leave.

Michaela reels from Myra's rejection and has a further run in with Carmel. Refusing to spend any more time with her family, she opts for a night out at The Loft with a bemused Sasha. Determined to get drunk and forget about her troubles, Michaela latches on to an older bloke, Paul. Throwing herself at Paul, Michaela makes a fool of herself as Sasha decides enough is enough and heads home.

Back in the Village, Paul tries it on with Michaela as Mike passes. Mike flies at Paul worried that Michaela is in danger. Michaela warns Mike to stay away but she soon breaks down and Mike comforts her. For the first time since the church explosion, Michaela opens up to Mike and he reminds her how special she is to him. Soothed by Mike's kind words, he offers to take her home as they become firm friends once again.

Dom is having difficulty removing Ste and Justin from his new flat. He gives the unsanitary pair until the end of the day to get out and leave him alone. Realising that they need to impress Dom if they're going to convince him to let them stay, Ste and Justin head out to fetch all the ingredients for a proper lads' night in. As the unlikely threesome settle down for a curry and some beers in front of a DVD, Dom begins to allow himself to be persuaded that maybe a bit of company wouldn't be the end of the world, and so the 'Three Musketeers' are coined.

Newt and Lauren are desperately searching for Gov's credit card in Newt's room and to make matters worse, Lauren is panicking that Carmel will already have told Calvin that the condoms were hers. They find Carmel in The Dog with Mark and plead with her not to tell Calvin. Carmel's clearly conflicted between her blossoming friendship with Lauren and her need to tell Calvin the truth for her own sake.

Lauren and Newt go back to the Osbornes' and, resigned to putting their fate in the hands of the Gods, are just about to settle down as Frankie walks in brandishing Gov's stolen credit card. Leo joins Frankie in a vitriolic tirade and Newt and Lauren are ordered to pay back the money to a charity of Frankie's choice, so as to avoid any police involvement. And so the star-crossed lovers are drawn apart once more, grounded and lonely.

2432: Calvin sees Mark tying to kiss Carmel
November 18 2008

Carmel has moved back home and Lauren can't believe Calvin's being so stupid as to just let her walk out of his life. Calvin wants nothing more than to have Carmel back but he can't bear the guilt of having killed Nige hanging over his marriage. Calvin goes to see Warren and tells him that he can't take it anymore but Warren manages to convince him that it's not worth throwing his life away over.

Meanwhile, Carmel is devastated and as Bel tries to console her, Mark appears on cue offering to take Carmel out for a drink. Carmel says no, for fear of what Calvin would think but when Bel points out that she's doing nothing wrong, Carmel unloads her woes onto Mark over a couple of drinks and she gets a little tipsy. When Mark walks her home and tries to kiss her, she immediately backs off but little does she realise that Calvin, who was heading over to patch things up, has witnessed the whole thing.

Ste and Dom are trying their best to get on and find some common ground while Justin is at work. In spite of a prickly start to the day which is in no way helped by the fact that Ste decides to engage in some Gladiator-style horseplay using Dom's replica swords and sandals, the boys manage bond over an evening game of Risk. Unfortunately for Ste, the loser has to clean the flat.

Hannah returns from Paris looking incredibly glamorous and as Justin and Leila grill her over her holiday, it becomes obvious that she was really taken by the glitzy lifestyle, so much so that she seems to have forgotten all about Elliot. Leila asks about Matt, the mystery man who scooped her away and in spite of the fact that she admits that he was gorgeous and a gentleman, she insists that nothing happened.

Hannah is fed up with the mediocrity of Hollyoaks and clearly missing the ritzy, star-studded lifestyle she has left behind in Paris. So she decides to organise a beauty pageant, Belle Naturelle, where the models don't wear any make-up. Although she's not entirely grasped the idea, Leila offers her help.

Justin is flat broke and his misery is only compounded when Warren offers him a job. Not willing to compromise his morals for fast cash, Justin stands strong and tells Warren where to stick it. While working in the SU bar, he spots Leila and when he finds out that Gilly has convinced Leila to go out on a date with him, Justin is overcome with an unexpected sense of jealousy.

Things get worse for Justin when he has to unblock the women's toilets which are overflowing with excrement. The dirty deed done, Justin returns to the bar and seeing that Gilly still hasn't turned up, decides to brave it with Leila. Just as he's about to ask Leila out, Gilly arrives. This is the final straw for Justin - he wants his old life back, even if it means living in the crooked pocket of Warren Fox, he swallows his pride and heads over to the Loft.

2433: Calvin tips off Warren about the raid
November 19

Myra tries to persuade Carmel to go and patch things up with Calvin, but Carmel is still bitter towards her mum and sets off for work instead. Carmel tries to talk to Calvin and sort things out but he is sure she's interested in Mark now.

Confused and upset, Carmel goes to Evissa where Bel tries to console her but not realising that Myra has just walked in behind her, Carmel tells Bel that she doesn't trust her mother. Myra runs off before Carmel has the chance to apologise.

Later, back at the McQueens', Carmel returns with a peace offering off curry and chips. Realising what's at stake, mother and daughter are finally reunited as friends.

At the police station, the atmosphere is icy between Calvin and Carmel - and Mark's revelling in it. Calvin manages to maintain a professional veneer in spite of his clear hatred for his colleague. When Mark asks Calvin to help out on a raid, he agrees reluctantly agrees.

Calvin is shocked to discover that the planned raid is on The Loft and fearing that his secret may be uncovered if Warren is arrested, he decides to tip Warren off, so Ravi stores all the loot in student halls with Leila.

Later, Calvin and Mark charge into The Loft all-guns blazing and as they tear the place apart, Mark quickly realises that the stolen gear isn't there. When he stumbles across an irritatingly-cool Warren in the office with Ravi, Mark can't work out what went wrong. Calvin's glad that his secret is safe and that Mark was made to look foolish. But when Warren goes to thank Calvin for his loyalty, Calvin's torn between his own moral compass and his instinct to survive.

Hannah is in the SU bar going through some of Leila's poster designs for her beauty pageant when Elliot walks in. Elliot is suitably upset when Hannah reveals that she returned yesterday and hasn't even bothered to call him.

Hannah's adamant that she would never cheat on him and that she simply went out there to have a good time. Things are rocky between the pair and it seems like the worst has happened until Elliot offers an olive branch. Hannah's delighted, for now at least, that they have managed to patch things up and resolve their differences.

As Justin stands before Warren contemplating the dodgy job, he looks about at all the stolen gear and realises that turning to Warren isn't the answer. Warren's furious when Justin tells him to stick his job and walks out.

Back at the SU bar, Justin is still wondering if he's made the right choice. On the other side of the bar, Zak and Gilly have had enough of Archie's rugger bugger antics and decide to ditch him to go to the Dog. Somehow though, true to form, Archie manages to snag a girl and as Zak and Gilly sit contemplating the love-shaped vacuums in their lives, Archie struts over with his latest conquest.

For once, the boys manage to turn the table on Archie by convincing his date that Zak's actually Archie's boyfriend. The girl makes her excuses and leaves, while Zak and Gilly sit and bask in their rare victory over Archie!

2434: Hannah bares all in the pageant
November 20

Hannah's panicking about Belle Naturelle and when Louise and Carmel convince her to glam it up, Hell's Bells is born. Leila thanks Hannah for convincing her to go out with Gilly but Hannah reveals to Elliot that she feels guilty about it since Leila's clearly still hung up on Justin.

People begin to arrive and Leila tells Gilly that tonight's the night. Archie is annoying Zak so Zak does his best to ditch him. Zak is later frustrated to find out that Archie has pulled, again.

The pageant gets underway and everyone is really impressed until the final act, Hannah, comes out onto stage looking stunning until, all-of-a-sudden, her bikini top flies off into the audience. The crowd go wild and it's up to Elliot to save his girlfriend's modesty.

After the pageant has finished, Leila is forced to be honest with both herself and Gilly and lets him down gently. Justin, spotting his opportunity but mistiming it spectacularly, asks Leila out and gets an almighty slap around the face for his troubles.

Calvin goes to Warren to discuss Mark's relationship with Carmel and the raid on the loft yesterday. Warren tells Calvin that they're both being laughed at by the snooty copper and that they have to do something about it. Despite being tempted, Calvin tells Warren to leave the situation along.

Later, when Warren spots Mark out on a run in a secluded spot, he takes the opportunity for revenge and beats Mark within an inch of his life, escaping unrecognised.

That evening, the two couples, reunited and seemingly happy at last, are celebrating new beginnings over champagne in The Loft. Warren tells Calvin that the situation with Mark has been sorted. Despite being pleased at Mark's downfall, Calvin knows that beneath the surface, all four of them are just living a lie.

Myra tells Jacqui to stop moping and to get her life back on track after everything with Tony. Jacqui resolves to go back to work - Tan & Tumble is her business after all. When she gets there, Jacqui demands that Tony give her the business. Tony offers to sell Jacqui the business, genuinely trying to help her out, but admits that he can't just give the place away. Knowing that she can't afford to buy the tanning salon, Myra encourages Jacqui to get her business back from Tony.

Louise is sure that Warren's up to something behind her back but when she talks to Carmel about her problems, she realises Carmel has troubles of her own. Louise encourages Carmel to go and find Calvin and make up with him but she refuses, convinced that it's over. Louise takes matters into her own hands and runs off to find Calvin. She pleads with Calvin to see that he's just being pig-headed and that Carmel never kissed Mark and unless they can sort their differences, they'll lose each other forever.

At the beauty pageant, Carmel reaches breaking point when Archie tries it on with her, announcing to all that she's married and plans to remain so. Just as she's doing this, Calvin appears and the young lovers are, at last re-united. Witnessing the happy reunion, Louise decides that she's got to do something to save her own relationship and so runs to find Warren, declaring that she loves him, trusts him and still wants to marry him.
