Motoring show Top Gear has been using Morse code to insult Strictly Come Dancing.

The programme's soundtrack was overdubbed with dot-dash beeps last week, tapping out the message: "Strictly Come Dancing is crap."

"I know Morse code when I hear it so I played it back and worked out what they were saying. It’s typical Top Gear to slag off Strictly - can you imagine [host Jeremy] Clarkson in a sequined top?" a viewer told The Sun.

A representative for the show said the coded messages will return this week, but cautioned that they should not be taken seriously.

"It's all just a bit of fun. Top Gear is known for being irreverent so this is just the producers' idea of a joke," said the BBC insider.

Is this really necessary? Is it funny? I don't think so. With the Manuelgate still in discussion, the producer should perhaps re-evalue his idea of jokes before he/she too is forced to resign.

Oh come on.. it is a joke.. nobody knew what it was but now someone does I bet there will be more complaints... this is stupid... it was a joke...

But is the sentiment behind a joke not that people laugh together rather than at somebody behind their back? And what is the point if nobody is aware of what is happening unless they understand morse code?

but they already slagged off SCD the week before too... I am sure they knew someone would crack it.. it is not like it was hard...

Oh how I now wish Mary Whitehouse was still alive. At least when she was about, it was only her spouting off about everything, and at least she watched what she was spouting about, rather than all these people that complain about things they don't even watch.

I'm getting really hacked off with it tbh. Half of the people that complain haven't watched what they are complaining about in the first place, and those that do complain and have watched, generally don't normally watch the show - cos if they did, they know exactly what Jezza and Co are like.

FFS lighten up people!
