Dont kill me for a making this thread in November!
But theres loads of ads already and present ideas in shops :p
So thought we could have a general thread for talking about being excited to the lead up, to anything up buying presents and what to get people and ask for ideas :)
Ive suggested to my mum that we get my nana some tickets to go to the strictly come dancing tour in january in newcastle, cos we can then go up for the weekend. I know tickets will be expensive and stuff but I think it will be nice for the three of us to do, it will be like when we all saw Cats in sunderland a few year ago as a present to her mothers day. I hope we get to do this, cos it makes a change to what we usually do.
I bought my first christmas presents on friday :p  And we picked our secret santa in october

We picked our Secret Santa the other day. Sooo excited. All my mates are trying to find out who's got who.. except me and one of my mates. I'm so glad I've got who I've got, so easy.
By the way.. is it bad to use an old voucher to buy some presents lmao ?

My sister has just got tickets for Strictly in Newcastle, its at the metro arena. I think she paid about £35 each.
Yeah I remember going to the metro arena, there are no £35 tickets left though, there are £42.50 tickets
Sainsbury's website is all Christmassy now. The lights are all up in town too, though they don't get turned on until 1st December.

I suggested this last year to PB I think, but you could always get her one of those digital photo frames - I got one for my nan last year and she really likes it. You basically put a load of family photos on it etc and you put the frame up on the mantlepiece, and every few minutes, the photo in the frame will change.. so it's a bit like a slide show.

I'm actually going to be buying like 2 maybe 3 presents this year and that it :)
Tomrrow I am going to Boots as they are having a Christmas Evening and for every 50pounds you spend you get 1000 points = 10pounds! Should be good..
(My pound sign isn't working btw :( ) x
Where do you get it from, Dave? Sounds brilliant.

I haven't even started yet as I can't find the time. I was going to get some stuff on Monday while Marley was at football training but she has been off school yesterday and today with a sore throat so that put the brakes on that. I'll just have to take a few days of work and go and get presents when she's at school.

Same here. I have half of two of my AS's in January. The head of 6th form thinks the two unit system is preferable but I beg to differ; there's less to pull the mark up if we mess up so we'll end up resitting half the course.
I have some voucher things for Superdrug.. I wonder how much I can save on Christmas presents by buying the things I have vouchers for :p
Kirsty :]

Yeahh I have resits in January, still.. that's not spoiling my Christmas :D
I need a Christmas job... or any kind of job too Chris!
I have to buy for 9 people this year because of my sister and cousin... and also my friends, not that I mind...it's jsut the funds!
What do babies like anyways?? They'll be just about walking/crawling, I've never had to buy for babies so I'm finding it very difficult lol
What subjects do you have resits for Kirsty? I have Economics and Psychology exams. I feel sorry for my friends who have Maths; the whole year is struggling with it because they haven't been doing it for that long. Both of them got A's for GCSE Maths and one's predicted C/D and the other D/E.
Just buy them a teddy or some sleepsuit things. My dad's friend got me a big bear when I was little so my dad got his son a packet of sleepsuits from like tescos or somewhere.
Do you not have your EMA through yet Kirsty to help with funds?
Kirsty :]

I'm resitting 1 AS RE module and 1 AS English Lang module to bump up my grades hopefully. Nope, no EMA yet... they're still "assessing" my application. :(
Hmm I was going to, but they're into everythign now. So I was thinking something that makes noise but that could move about/get them to move about. Hmmmm

Yeah, its taken ages this year. My friend had to chase them up a load of times only to be told that her mum had not included something in the application. My friend's mum told her that she wasn't sure that she had the item in question and my friend just told her not to bother because they were such a hassle lol. I better get mine for this week; not happy that nobody bothered to do our register on Monday afternoon.

im at college and still waiting for my adult learner grant to come through, its taking the mick, apparently they messed something up this year and theres been a big delay. im overdrawn and borrowing off my mam at the minute. my tutor said he was gonna find out whats happening this week.
I bet the same people are doing that as EMA. The people behind EMA were behind the marking of SATs papers this year and now they've been scrapped because of the fiasco there with the late returning of marks and so many people asking for remarks.
Well...:D Ive started to think about what to get people for xmas, I mean play.com have loads of cheap deals at the moment, they take longer but hey free delivery :p

how fantabulous is babysitting? Money for doing nothing really if the kids are in bed! In the last 2 months i've earned just short of £200! I looked after on little girl every night one week andhad her overnight and all day at the weekend cos her Mum and Dad were in a show.
Our town's christmas lights get switched on tonight :D

Woahh, thinking of it liek that is crazy!
I was going to write my christmas list for Father Christmas tonight but I got sidetracked lol
I'll forget what i wanted to put on my list tomorrow now! :(
The world's most expensive Christmas tree has just gone on display in Japan - and it worth a cool £1million.
The world's most expensive Christmas tree has gone on display in Japan.
Despite the recession, the makers have created the dazzling 24k gold tree to create a "gorgeous atmosphere".
The tree is decorated with more than 240 jewels including diamond baubles and strings of pearls, weighs more than 21 kilograms - and is worth (£1million) 150million yen.
The tree went on display this week at the Ginza Tanaka jewellery shop in Shinsaibashi, Osaka.
"Economic sentiment is sluggish. But, at least in this store, we want people to feel a gorgeous atmosphere," a store official said.
The de luxe tree comes just after the ultimate in lazy Christmas tree decorations was revealed.
The internet sensation is an instant tree that goes from the box to twinkling in the corner in two minutes flat.
And it is considerably cheaper - with prices starting from about £70.
That is one expensive Christmas tree

I'm writing my Christmas list... or I won't actually be getting much for Christmas! I've forgot what I want already!
.:SpIcYsPy:.
02-12-2008, 20:12
I honestly have NO IDEA at all what I want for Xmas..
Never wrote a list and I doubt I ever will..
I'm pretty happy with everything I got (for now anyways :p).. I don't have quite a lot of stuff that a lot of people have but I feel no need to get anything.. If I do get say a DS for example I know I will get bored of it easily..
I feel so odd
I think I will reqeust a Wii game that I will enjoy playing :)
Im beyond annoyed right!
I went babysitting tonight, not for long, just 3 hours for a woman who lives 2 doors down.
I get home and ALL the xmas decorations are up including the tree.
I tell ya, im fuming!!
I knew we would but them up soon cos we always put them up the first fews days of december but me mum didnt tell me did she?!
I come home and they are alll up :(
I can officially say this is the first year of my LIFE that I have not put them up. Last year I did it all myself and the year before I was off ill and my mum came up and we decorated then in the middle of the day.
I mean its not fair!!! Its the only thing I LOVE about xmas like before the day, cos now I dont do anything else before xmas like I used to. The tree was my thing my dad as never done it and my brother couldnt care less, I know my mum does it just to get it done but to me I love it!.
I cant actually believe how sad and angry I am bout this.
I never spend time downstairs cos they watch crap so yeah the tree was my thing :crying:
We also never used to care what our tree looked like, we had load of odd decorations and it might looked messy to some people but it was nice then we moved here and my mum went for a theme. We go for purple and silver and well now she hasbut a massive thick gold tinsel round the middle, shes just made it look horrible now!
I tell you what Im refusing to help her take it down
OMG sorry for the rant but whats worse is its my last xmas here, well putting up the tree and shes done this! ON xmas day I'll have the whole last xmas where Ive been here like the whole time, if that makes sense.
But argh!!!
Im going to bed :ninja:
Chloe O'brien
12-12-2008, 22:53
In our family it has always been the kids who do the tree, it doesn't matter if if looks like a dogs dinner adults can always arrange it when the kids in bed, we have the Christmas CD playing when Marley decorates the tree.

I can see me having to go to Newport/Cardiff to find what I want to get.
Bad times
I dont have much to do, although theyve now done a secret santa at dancing so now I have more shopping to do
grr quite annoyed. meeting three of my friends from home at the german markets on wednesday, when i just called them to confirm they were on about giving me christmas presents. This is silly as i dont see them much now i'm at uni, i see them about three times a year so dont see why they've got me anything! means i have to get stuff for them! but i'm not made of money!
any ideas what i can get for the 3 of them? they're all girls, and i'm not spending more than a fiver each on them, as it's ridiculous.
i dont believe in friends buying each other stuff, espec at the age when none of us really have money. best thing to do is say spend the money on yourself, or to have a good night out together and celebrate christmas in style.
Kirsty :]
14-12-2008, 18:21
Ahhh story of my life this year Bryan!
Dorothy Perkins usually have like really nice accesories and they ahve good deals on socks and stuff like that, like 3 for a fiver. I know it's socks.. but I'm a girl and I love socks lol. Or there's chocolate, alcohol, umm I can't think of much else other than little bitty bits.
Me and my friends don't knwo what to do. I don't want to be paying out for loads of rubbish for my 5 friends when that's all it really is.. rubbish. I said to them about going for a meal and a photoshoot (£10 each) which the majority of su have agreed would be nice as we're going to UNi next year so it's something we could keep nice and we could make a day of it and the meal aswell and it seems pricey.. but we'd be paying nearly triple that if we bought presents! But then some of them want to have presents instead, it's alright for them.. they have the money. But I don't. Friends are frustrationg.
Hope you figure something out Bryan :)
just baked some mince pies, and they were a sucess - they taste gorgeous! yummmmmmm :p
We had our secret santa at work.. i got fluffy slippers...
We are doing our secret santa at dancing tonight, should be fun :p
