Personally for me I love saturday night telly, and over the years of course its changed. Now of, well reality shows really, well talent shows.
For me I miss the saturday night TV from when I was little :p I can remember, Blind date, the price is right, family fortunes, Michael Barrymore's My Kind of Music . Juts loads of game shows and I loved it :D
I know that some gameshows slowly make a come back, or new ones, but they are not the same, as celebs are on them and they play for charity. Now I think its great that they play for chairty but I just miss the days were other people could go on them.
Basically I miss good old saturday night telly :D Its still good now and then but its just not the same as it was from my childhood

what does everyone else think? Do you miss how saturday night telly used to be?
We all of different ages on here so did everyone prefer it from their own childhood or do you prefer it now?

I think its always been pretty boring, theres been the odd good entertainment show over the years but nothing great, atleast theres the x factor now though.

I liked it in my childhood.. Noel's House Party - brilliant Saturday night telly, loved Mr Blobby! :cheer: Then, there was Blind Date, Jim Davidson's Generation Game... Casualty then they had the brilliant Jonathan Creek or The Murder Game straight after Casualty in a later slot - nowadays, Saturday night TV doesn't even compare in my opinion.

Used to love the Moment Of Truth with Cilla Black, when all the family said what they wanted then the mom or dad had to learn a skill or remember information for the live show on the Saturday night, omg when they lost and they would take the toys away from the kids, it was tragic! :crying:

I used to watch Blind Date before I went out when I was a student. There was never anything work watching on afterwards.

When I was a kid there were 3 channels, and a test card transmission of a kid in front of a black board late at night - mid-night probably.

The Sweeney was on and my dad liked that, I can remember watching Starsky and Hutch and later on the A team. There might have been one programme worth watching plus the news.

T V is much better now, just by virture of the increased choice.

Dallas was originally on on a Wednesday - I used to see it at my Gran's house 8pm Wednesdays. I don't remember if they changed it to Saturdays but they may well have later on.

Sunburn was basically like a drama/comedy about the going ons of a team of holiday reps somewhere abroad (cant remember where now) it was really good. Michelle Collins used to be in it.

I wonder if one day saturday night Tv will ever be the same?

i dont think it will be tbh which is a shame :( it seems like theyre trying to get away from all the gameshows like that and show other sort of entertainment and drama instead

Abbie
09-11-2008, 13:32
Yeah :( thats true, but in a way I see a slight come back of gameshows its just with stupid celebs!

Yeah :( thats true, but in a way I see a slight come back of gameshows its just with stupid celebs!

yeh it seems like nearly all gmeshows are with celebs, which is ok, but i always preferred ones with normal people and then maybe at xmas or something theyd have a celeb special, i think its better that way

Abbie
09-11-2008, 13:39
Yeah thats what they used to do! Like with who wants to be a millionaire which I hate, but whenever I see that advertised its for a celeb version

di marco

Yeah thats what they used to do! Like with who wants to be a millionaire which I hate, but whenever I see that advertised its for a celeb version

yeh i think theyre only doing celeb versions of that now. maybe over the xmas/new year period they could have a saturday evening of old gameshow stuff, thatd be good

Abbie
09-11-2008, 13:43
Yeah they should :D
I mean they repeat old gameshows on sky but its just on the same, as a saturday night where imo they belong

di marco
09-11-2008, 13:44
Yeah they should :D
I mean they repeat old gameshows on sky but its just on the same, as a saturday night where imo they belong

yeh and they should actually do them with new people rather than just repeating the old ones

Wasnt there a show that each week changed the game show, it had celebs on and each wek one got kicked off and then there was a winner?

So would I and why not Bruce Forsyth and his ex wife Anthea Redford did it so why not Vernon and Tess they'd be perfect for a Saturday night telly.
