POP band S Club 7 are reforming — but only three original members have signed up.
Jo O’Meara, 29, Bradley McIntosh, 27, and Paul Cattermole, 31, are rehashing their hits at universities and nightclubs for £3,000 per 20-minute set.
So far they have been booked for only a handful of appearances — in stark contrast to the recent sell-out reunion tours of Nineties acts like the Spice Girls and Take That. But pop promoter Terry Mills said: “It’s early days.
“They’ve got some good songs so I’m sure they’ll get bookings. Everyone deserves to make some cash in the credit crunch.”
The band were created by pop mogul Simon Fuller and reportedly made him £50million. They had a BBC TV series and made a movie before splitting in 2003.
Former members Tina Barrett, 32, Hannah Spearritt, 27, Jon Lee, 26, and 30-year-old Rachel Stevens could not be convinced to rejoin.
But ‘S Club 3’ will still perform a medley of their best hits including Reach and Don’t Stop Movin’.
A band source said: “People loved S Club 7 and their songs are still stuck in people’s heads. They figured, ‘why not cash in on that?’. Unfortunately the full line-up couldn’t be convinced.”
Former lead singer O’Meara was involved in 2007’s Celebrity Big Brother race row.
