Monday 11th November

Debbie (Charley Webb) is appalled to hear from Chas (Lucy Pargeter) that Jasmine (Jenna-Louise Coleman) has gone to the MacFarlane’s club for information to use in her expose. Meanwhile, Jasmine goes for an interview to work behind the bar at the club. She meets the owner Gary MacFarlane (Colin Connor), but is warned by the other workers to keep out of his way.

When Jasmine also bumps into a young delivery boy Aaron (Danny Miller), who’s handed a mysterious package, Jasmine realises she’s entered the lion’s den. Back in the village, Debbie and Chas are worried when they can’t reach her. They are forced to ask for Shane’s (Paul McEwan) help. Shane warns Jasmine she’s playing with fire but having been offered a trial Jasmine is determined to work undercover at the club.

Elsewhere, Edna (Shirley Stelfox) berates Rodney (Patrick Mower) for leading Lily (Anne Charleston) astray and when Lily arrives at the factory it seems that her problems are far from over. After another tirade from Val (Charlie Hardwick), Lily quits her job at the factory. Rodney tries to convince Lily that she needs to go through with the operation or risk losing her life. She tells Rodney she doesn’t need sympathy, just to have fun until her time comes. Rodney tries to protest but realises he won’t change her mind.

Tuesday 11 November

Jasmine (Jenna-Louise Coleman) is narked with both Debbie (Charley Webb) and Shane (Paul McEwan) for trying to put her off going to the club. Lying to Shane that she’s going to pack it in, Jasmine shows up for her first shift and begins to learn the ropes. Noticing a secret meeting taking place in the manager’s office, Jasmine plans to get inside. Listening at the door of Gary MacFarlane’s (Colin Connor) office, Jasmine is unaware that the boss is watching on CCTV. As the office door swings open, Jasmine leaps back in surprise as Gary catches her red-handed. He wastes no time in firing her and Jasmine fumes at her stupidity.

Debbie sends Eli (Joseph Gilgun) to pick Jasmine up. Arriving at the club, Eli is astounded to see Danielle (Nicola Stapleton) outside. He tackles her and demands answers as to where she’s been. Danielle is in no mood to talk and does her best to escape his grasp. Eli’s shocked when Danielle reveals the police are involved with the MacFarlanes and that they released her from prison. Desperate to help, Eli tries to leave with Danielle, but she deliberately hurts his feelings to make him leave. Back in the village, Jasmine and Eli fill in Debbie on what happened and she deduces that Shane might be involved. Jasmine visits his flat but he lies that he let Danielle escape for her own good so she wouldn’t be caught by the MacFarlanes. While she comforts him, Shane picks up on an opportunity and he sweet talks Jasmine into bed.

Elsewhere, spirits in the choir build to a crescendo as practice begins to make perfect. However, the ever devious Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) has a final attempt at ruining the choir’s chances by suggesting they click their fingers along with the music when they perform at the competition heats. Her plan bears instant fruit as Sam (James Hooton) in particular struggles to combine words and moves. During rehearsals, the church assessor arrives to evaluate the church for the closure proposal. Furious, the villagers start protesting outside the church through the medium of song. As the church assessor becomes more frustrated, an argument develops and a drunken Terry (Billy Hartman) stumbles over to lamp the church assessor to defend Brenda’s (Lesley Dunlop) honour.

Wednesday 12 November

Pollard (Chris Chittell) guesses what David (Matthew Wolfenden) and Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) are up to after finding an article on converting a church into apartments. Ashley (John Middleton) is worried when McNally (Steven Farebrother) comes sniffing around after Terry’s (Billy Hartman) attack on the church inspector. Later, the choir bicker over their unflattering outfits as the judge arrives at the church. After saying a quick prayer, Ashley accidentally knocks a curtain pole off the wall and it clobbers the judge on the head. With his parish’s future on the line, Ashley insists the judge delay a visit to hospital, even though he has concussion. They perform their song and are stunned to get through, thanks to the judge being barely conscious. As the choir celebrates Pollard collars David and blackmails him into cutting his father in on their scam.

Meanwhile, a smitten Shane (Paul McEwan) and Jasmine (Jenna-Louise Coleman) enjoy a drink together following their night of passion. Debbie (Charley Webb) fears that Jasmine is falling for Shane (Paul McEwan), all too aware that she didn’t sleep at home. Confronting Jasmine, Debbie and Eli (Joseph Gilgun) refuse to believe Shane let Danielle go free out of the goodness of his heart. Having spent the night with him, Jasmine insists he’s a good guy. Debbie’s appalled at her lack of judgement.

Also, Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) is stunned when Val (Charlie Hardwick) makes jibes about her weight and she considers joining a gym to impress Terry. Returning to Val to pick up some gym details, Val instead suggests she try a cabbage diet. Against her better judgement, Brenda comes back again to ask for more advice from the sexually experienced Val on how to entice men. When Brenda clumsily attempts to talk dirty to Terry, Val makes the point to the confused gent that Brenda really likes him.

Thursday 13 November

Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) is delighted after her work with the choir paves the way for a reconciliation with Rodney (Patrick Mower). In fear she could force Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) and Ashley (John Middleton) to move to the new parish in Leeds, Nicola’s conscience gets the better of her and she tells David (Matthew Wolfenden) she can’t buy the church. But Pollard (Chris Chittell) arrives with David insisting they are going ahead and he’s taking a cut, otherwise he’ll expose Nicola’s original duplicity. Nicola begs David not to support his father, but it’s clear that Pollard has called upon his more snide characteristics and demands they buy the church.

Elsewhere, Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) thinks twice about the cabbage diet after getting a terrible stomach ache and trapped wind. She has her misgivings after Terry (Billy Hartman) offers to cook tea and hopes her constitution will play ball. As the day draws on her thoughts turn to what might happen on her date and Brenda again worries that her lack of male experience may put Terry off. Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) assures her that if he’s a gentleman he’ll take it slow.

Placated, Brenda heads off to Terry’s, but no sooner has she arrived when her stomach cramps return and she dashes to the bathroom. Apologising afterwards, Brenda is unimpressed when Terry serves up a large portion of chips and quiche. Too embarrassed to explain the real reason, Brenda explains that she can’t eat much because she’s watching her weight. Terry is crestfallen thinking she doesn’t like what he’s made for her. When Bob (Tony Audenshaw) returns home with TJ (Connor Lee) Brenda makes her excuses and hurries home, leaving Terry confused.

Friday 14 November

Terry (Billy Hartman) and Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) are both on edge after their abortive date. Brenda tells Val (Charlie Hardwick) that the cabbage diet has failed as she’s actually gained weight. Val decides to give her a makeover before she meets Terry again that evening. At the café, Terry wrongly assumes Brenda thinks he’s fat and shares his worries with Bob (Tony Audenshaw). Bob suggests Terry try to psyche himself up before the date to boost confidence. However, as a semi-naked Terry talks to himself in front of the mirror while getting ready, Brenda lets herself into the B&B and comes face-to-face with his saucy rendition. Brenda is horrified and rushes off, convinced Terry is some sort of sex fiend.

At Pear Tree, Carl (Tom Lister) is put in his place by Jimmy (Nick Miles) after expressing his doubts about Matthew and Anna’s (Emma Davies) relationship. Over at Holdgate, Donald (Michael Jayston) suggests that Anna go to Northumberland on a job, but she refuses as Matthew will be back tomorrow. With no other plan of attack, Donald begs his daughter to end things with Matthew and states that she has to choose between them. Anna is reluctant but picks Matthew and an irate Donald coldly tells her there will be consequences. Anna realises she will need to confess to Matthew that she tried to ruin his business before Donald tells him.

Meanwhile, Pollard (Chris Chittell) and David (Matthew Wolfenden) plan to meet with an architect to take advice on the best way to maximise profits from the church. They try to keep the plans secret from Nicola (Nicola Wheeler), but she finds the documents and is hurt by their deception. She channels her energy into the choir, changing allegiances while pretending to David she’s on-board. Nicola recruits the awful Leyla (Rokhsaneh Ghawam-Shahidi) to the choir, but Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) objects afterwards. Nicola confesses that she’s feeling down and considering pulling out. However, after another conversation with the big-headed David, Nicola vows to win the competition and wipe the smile off his face.
