The X Factor (http://uk.tv.yahoo.com/x-factor/) is at the centre of the latest TV phone-voting scandal.
It's emerged that during last Saturday's live show the incorrect number was displayed on screen for Spanish singer Ruth Lorenzo (http://uk.tv.yahoo.com/x-factor/finalists/ruth-lorenzo.html).
Fans of the contestant realised the mistake after being unable to get through to vote for her for over an hour.
Ruth ended up in the bottom two with Girlband and narrowly avoided being booted off the show following the sing-off.
An X Factor spokesperson told the Daily Mirror: "During one short sequence, a single digit was missing from Ruth Lorenzo's vote number.
"The incorrect number was on screen for less than three seconds, and this was accompanied by an audio announcement giving the correct number. The error would not have changed the outcome of the vote."
