Wednesday, 5 November 2008,

PCs Nate Roberts (Ben Richards) and Mel Ryder (Rhea Bailey) are confronted with a shocking scene when they are called to a stabbing on a bus. They find terrified passenger, Holly Perkins (Florence Bell), who is desperately trying to stem the flow of blood coming from Kelvin Gainham’s (Steven France) stab wound.

Nate immediately jumps into action and helps Kelvin while waiting for the paramedics to arrive. Once Kelvin has been taken away in an ambulance, Nate questions Holly who explains that Kelvin and another man squared up to one other and although she tried to diffuse the situation, a knife was pulled and Kelvin stabbed. Nate is charmed by how determined Holly is to help but is later surprised when he learns that she is DC Terry Perkins (Bruce Byron) daughter.

Holly and Nate head back to Sun Hill where Holly helps by providing detailed statements and offering to search for the attacker - the pair apparently seems to bond, much to Terry’s annoyance. The case takes a dramatic turn when it becomes a murder investigation and the hunt is on to find the suspect, Jed Ryan (Andrew Turner). During the search, Terry is horrified when Holly and Nate find themselves in yet another dangerous situation after Holly disobeys the PCs orders and is confronted by an emotional Jed.

Leaving St Hugh’s hospital after a busy night shift, PCs Nate Roberts (Ben Richards) and Tony Stamp (Graham Cole) are alarmed when a car pulls up outside and Claire Webster (Elize Du Toit) is pushed out onto the ground along with six bags of cocaine before the vehicle screeches away.

Later, DCs Terry Perkins (Bruce Byron) and Mickey Webb (Chris Simmons) visit Claire and her father, Ian Webster (Philip Bretherton), at the hospital. Claire denies knowing anything about the drugs and claims she can’t remember anything while her father, a barrister, stops them from asking too many questions.

As the investigation progresses, Terry and Mickey discover that Claire had taken vast amounts of cocaine and had been pushed out of a mini-cab from a firm managed by Alan Brady (Harry Capehorn). Convinced that Brady has something to do with the drugs, Terry goes undercover as a mini cab driver and passes an interview with the taxi firm’s owner, Jimmy Thompson (Ian Burfield) who wants him to start straight away.

Elsewhere, Mickey re-interviews Claire who finally admits that she had got out of her depth buying cocaine from Brady and selling it on to friends. She pretended to be interested in him but when he realised she wasn’t, he forced her to pay her debts. Unable to pay them off, Brady arranged for her to be beaten up.

The next night, determined to find out what he can about the taxi firm, Terry is tested by Brady who gives him a package to deliver. DCI Jack Meadows (Simon Rouse) is horrified when the package is tested and it turns out to be a letter bomb, but reluctantly, he lets Terry continue with his job. Jimmy is impressed when Terry makes the delivery and tells him he will needed for a big job the following day. After secretly letting the DCI know he’s ok, Terry begins to wonder what he’s let himself in for.

Isnt it great that we are having so many excellent episodes without the ridiculous Kiddiecop

Its about time they gave Terry more gritty storylines to do.
