Monday 3rd November

Edna (Shirley Stelfox) meets with Peter (Philip Bird) and asks him for the car back. Peter claims he’s sold it and invested the money and selfishly refuses to help. The words soon escalate into an argument and Peter wastes no time in dredging up their past. Insisting that his relationship to Edna and Lily (Anne Charleston) means nothing, Peter storms off. Edna is heartbroken but tells Lily he’s paid up, planning to find the money herself. Lily is delighted to finally put the mess behind her, but fails to notice Edna’s upset.

Meanwhile, Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) is pleased to witness Bob’s (Tony Audenshaw) much improved mood, giving herself credit for it. Terry (Billy Hartman) comments what a great team Bob and Brenda make, but her continued romantic overtures are still lost on Bob. Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) begs her mum to realise she’s misreading Bob’s friendliness. Brenda is quick to deny Gennie’s suspicions, intent on proving her daughter wrong.

At Butlers, Jo (Roxanne Pallett) frets when she receives a visit from local farmhand Mick Naylor (Tony Haygarth), complaining that her broken fence has caused some cows to escape from his boss’ farm. It transpires that Sam (James Hooton) sold some of Mick’s cows instead of Jo’s. Mick demands that Jo compensates his boss if full and Jo knows she’s stuck. Breaking down in tears, Jo realises she’s no chance of finding the money. Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) bails Jo out and agrees to pay Mick the money.

Tuesday 4th November

Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) worries about Brenda’s (Lesley Dunlop) feelings for Bob (Tony Audenshaw) and seeks advice from Chas (Lucy Pargeter). Chas mischievously recommends Gennie tells Bob and she does so, urging him to let her down gently. However, when Bob informs Terry (Billy Hartman) that Brenda has invited him to dinner, Terry stirs the pot, insinuating that Brenda fancies Bob. A nervous Bob is horrified when he sees Brenda has laid a romantic table for two, but brings the twins with him. Brenda is miserable and when Bob broaches the subject of her crush, an embarrassed Brenda pretends Gennie is wrong and it’s Terry she likes.

Also, Mick (Tony Haygarth) turns up at Butler’s with his grandson Lee (Lewis Linford) to resolve the situation with the cattle. The tension between the families clears when Mick offers to repair Jo’s (Roxanne Pallett) fence. Jo is grateful when the work is completed, but has to turn down the chance of a drink in the Woolpack for fear of bumping into Andy (Kelvin Fletcher). Later Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) offers to pay Mick to help Jo at the farm. Andy bristles at Mick and Lee’s interference but is appeased when Mick suggests they talk about the farm’s upkeep.

Elsewhere, in spite of Lily’s (Anne Charleston) misgivings, Edna (Shirley Stelfox) marches her down to the factory to set the record straight. Lily confesses to the factory workers she gave the car to a family member but promises to repay them all in a month. Lily feels terrible and her day only gets worse as all eyes are drawn to her in the Woolpack later on. Edna secretly arranges to withdraw all her savings from the post office, telling Lily that Peter is paying up.

Wednesday 5th November

Lily (Anne Charleston) complains of a headache but Edna (Shirley Stelfox) insists she face her colleagues at work. Lily is scorned at work and faces the prospect of working to pay off her debt. Val (Charlie Hardwick) has a go at Lily over her dishonesty when Lily collapses. Lily insists she is fine and Val reckons it was a cry for attention, but Doug (Duncan Preston) is adamant she sees a doctor. Lily privately admits to Dr Abbott (Kate Maravan) her health hasn’t been great recently, but lies to everyone else that she’s fine. Val verbally attacks Lily once more at the bonfire and is hurt that even Edna thinks she faked the collapse.

Meanwhile, Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) is frustrated that Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) is paying Mick (Tony Haygarth) to help at the farm, but Diane sternly puts him in his place. Mick starts work at the farm and his grandson Lee (Lewis Linford) calls round. Jo’s surprised to hear he’s a qualified gamekeeper. Lee expresses his sympathy about her situation with Andy and suggests she meet him at the bonfire. Later, Jo turns up to the bonfire for a while and while she chats to Lee, Andy watches the cosy scene jealously from afar.

Elsewhere, Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) berates Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) for getting involved, embarrassed at facing Bob (Tony Audenshaw). After making sure the ground is smoothed over with Brenda, Bob tells Terry (Billy Hartman) he has an admirer. Pleased, Terry insists on helping Brenda at the village bonfire and asks her out. Knowing Gennie is watching, Brenda kisses Terry.

Thursday 6th November

Anna (Emma Davies) and Matthew (Matt Healy) return from the trip with the former put out when Matthew entertains a new business client. Anna goes back home in a fluster, in two minds whether to give the information she’s garnered to Donald (Michael Jayston). Donald is suspicious and warns Anna not to let him down.

Back at home Farm, Anna can’t hide her jealousy when Matthew flirts with the client and makes an overt attempt to scupper the deal. A furious Matthew drags her outside and in the midst of an argument she blurts out that she’s in love with him. Matthew lets on to a stunned Carl (Tom Lister) who tries to warn his brother off pursuing a relationship. Instead, Matthew confides in Katie (Sammy Winward) that he shares Anna’s feelings.

Meanwhile, having been told by Anna that she failed on her mission, Donald can’t believe he’s been deceived by his own daughter. He finds the hidden information she gained on the trip burning in the fire. In a blazing row Anna confesses she’s in love with Matthew and can’t destroy his business. Betrayed, Donald disowns her, vowing to destroy the Kings on his own.

Meanwhile, Lily (Anne Charleston) arrives at the factory full of beans and determined to put her troubles behind her. However, on lunch break Lily feels faint again and a passing Rodney (Patrick Mower) insists on taking her to hospital. Lily confesses her loneliness since the raffle ticket scam and Rodney feels for her. After tests she’s told to return for a CT scan the next day. She insists Rodney keep it secret, even from Edna. Back in the village, Lily struggles to hold her tongue in the pub when Val (Charlie Hardwick) resumes her relentless verbal assault.

At Butlers, Jo (Roxanne Pallett) is grateful for Mick (Tony Haygarth) and Lee’s (Lewis Linford) continued help. Jo is pleasantly surprised when Lee cooks dinner for all of them. However, after spending the day fixing the fence, Jo is reluctant to join the Naylors in the pub, fearing Andy’s (Kelvin Fletcher) presence. Mick convinces her to come along and Jo’s pleased to receive a heartfelt welcome from the Woolpack regulars. Andy watches Jo and Lee bonding and struggles to contain his jealousy. Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) sternly tells him not to make any more trouble.

Friday 7th November

Rodney (Patrick Mower) accompanies Lily (Anne Charleston) for her scan, but Leyla (Rokhsaneh Ghawam-Shahidi) spots them leaving together and spreads rumours of a liaison at the factory. Val’s (Charlie Hardwick) furious and shouts to an equally surprised Edna (Shirley Stelfox) that she wants a word with Lily. Meanwhile, back at the hospital the test results confirm that Lily has a cerebral aneurism requiring surgery as soon as possible. Rodney is stunned as Lily, in denial, insists they go drinking. The extent of Lily’s trauma is revealed when she firmly tells Rodney she won’t go through with the operation.

Elsewhere, Debbie (Charley Webb) is shocked to hear of Jasmine’s (Jenna-Louise Coleman) plans to do a story on the MacFarlanes and urges her friend to stay clear of trouble. Shane (Paul McEwan) joins Jasmine for a drink and when she tries to form a partnership with him to bring down the MacFarlanes, Shane makes it plain that Jasmine should steer clear. Disregarding the advice, Jasmine secretly gets herself a trial to work at the MacFarlanes’ club, on her quest to uncover information for her story.

Also, Anna (Emma Davies) tells Donald (Michael Jayston) she refuses to let him push her away, but he can’t stand the sight of her. Matthew (Matt Healy) experiences the same problem at Home Farm, withstanding Carl’s (Tom Lister) wrath, so decides to meet Anna. Matthew tells Anna not to worry about Donald, but feels guilty as he heads back overseas to complete the business deal. However, a vengeful Donald secretly keeps a copy of the King’s paperwork with him and invites the client round to discuss the business deal.
