Desperate Dan Fitzgerald plants a smacker on teacher Libby Kennedy when he finally decides she’s the woman for him.

Despite trying to make a go of it with his wife Sam, Dan (Brett Tucker, 36) realises Libby is the girl of his dreams and decides to do something about it.

So he tracks her down at school and kisses her passionately.

But instead of melting in his arms, his actions earn him a stinging slap from the babe (Kym Valentine, 31) who is
furious he’s trying it on after dumping her.

Libby has also got someone else on her mind in the shape of sexy Lucas.

However, she has no idea the two men are brothers. An insider said: “The poor girl hasn’t had much luck in the men stakes recently and she’s furious when she finds out they are related.

“She thinks they have been playing her from the start and if either of them want a future with her then they have a lot of making up to do.”

NEIGHBOURS hunk Dan Fitzgerald proves his love for Libby Kennedy tonight.

Libby (Kym Valentine, 31) has always wanted to be principal at Erinsborough High, so Dan steps out of the running for the position.

Brett Tucker, 36, who plays Dan, said: “He’d do anything to make Libby happy.”

The lass is furious at first, but her anger turns to passion as the couple enjoy a saucy romp.

Scott Major has predicted that his Neighbours character Lucas Fitzgerald will always be tempted to get up to no good.

The actor's alter ego has previously battled a gambling addiction and is currently at the centre of an illegal street racing storyline on UK screens.

Speaking to Holy Soap about the mechanic's future, Major explained: "I think Lucas would like to think he could be on the straight and narrow, but there is always going to be something in him that will push him toward something more edgy."

However, Major also confirmed that viewers will see Lucas try to make amends in the coming months by providing support to others who are in need.

He said: "Lucas will embrace his life and try to make it up to others for things he has done in the past.

"Also for the first time he is in a family environment and becomes a pseudo guardian of the Ramsays and he also has other friends that are in need and he will be there for them."

Major has played the role of Lucas for almost three years.

Interview with Scott Major

Lucas's street racing storyline has given you a chance to explore the darker side of the character again. Do you enjoy those chances to show Lucas's edgy side?
"Absolutely. As an actor, it would be quite boring to play the good guy all the time and I love playing Lucas when he's being the bad boy. The storyline itself has allowed us to go to new locations - something different - and the good thing about the storyline initially for me was that it was initially Lucas on his own."

What's his main motivation for the street racing - the money involved, the excitement, or his heartbreak over Steph's departure?
"Lucas has many layers. Before Steph went away, he was prepared to settle down with her and almost embrace suburban life. But when she went away to jail, he changed and perhaps rebelled a little against suburban life and wanted a rush, because suburban life doesn't seem to work for him - Elle went to New York, Steph went to jail - not a happy ending!"

Why is Lucas so reluctant to throw races?
"Lucas, for better or worse, is very proud. He races to win, that's all he does. If he was in it for the money, he would fix the race. But he is in it for the rush - the adrenaline he gets from racing."

What happens next?
"We've seen him refuse to throw a race, and the consequences of that are quite drastic for Ramsay Street and Lucas physically. Then he does throw a race because he was backed into a corner and did what he could do to survive and also protect those around him."

But then he makes an ultimatum that he'll race one last time on his own terms…
"Yes, this is after the race he is forced into throwing. He wants one more race and definitely doesn't want to go out a loser. Lucas is in a very steep downward spiral and unless something pulls him up soon, it could all end in tears."

With Steph gone, if one person on the street could help Lucas out of this mess, who would it be?
"It would be Sonya because we share a gambling addiction and we open up to each other a lot, so Sonya would certainly have some influence over him."

What's in store for Lucas in the longer term and what are you filming at the moment?
"I have a few glimpses of where Lucas is heading and there are still more dark times for him to navigate through later in the year. At the moment, what we are filming is Lucas back to being a bit naughty and cheeky, and also helping his close friends out who are going through dire troubles."

Many Neighbours fans look back fondly on Lucas's relationship with Elle. Are you the same and are you still in touch with Pippa Black?
"Yes, I'm still in touch with Pippa and I definitely miss the Elle and Lucas storylines, particularly all the Erinsborough News stuff together. There was a lot of comedy involved but it also came across as a very deep love."

What have you and the Neighbours team made of the show's channel change from Ten to Eleven back home?
"It doesn't impact on us greatly as we still do the same work, however personally I think in the public domain it has put the focus back on the show and given it new energy. It's on a network with a demographic that wants to watch Neighbours so it can only be a good thing. Also, it's the way of the future. Up until now here in Australia, we've only had five free-to-air channels to choose from - now we have nearly a dozen and viewers have embraced these new options. I think we've come up trumps."

You've recently been doing some directing on Neighbours, working with a mentor director. How's it all going?
"It's going very well - I have another episode which I directed coming up soon and I'm about to start work on a few more."

You've previously done some writing for theatre - would you ever consider doing any writing for TV, or even Neighbours itself?
"I have actually put in a submission to the writing department to write an episode and I've also written a six-part TV series set in Camden, London which some producers over in the UK are looking at, so I definitely would like to pursue TV writing."

Finally, if you could give us one cryptic hint on future developments for Lucas, what would it be?
"Lucas's luck will change but only through tragedy…"

Neighbours star Scott Major has revealed that the soap will be revisiting his character's edgier side next year.

The actor's alter ego Lucas Fitzgerald has previously fought a gambling addiction and been involved in illegal street racing, but has recently seemed to be back on the straight and narrow.

However, speaking to Digital Spy, Major warned of big drama ahead for Lucas in the show's 2012 storylines.

Asked whether viewers have seen the back of Lucas's darker side, he replied: "God, I hope not! I know we haven't seen the end. There is a lot planned for next year where you see the other side of Lucas and it's not pretty."

Major added that he is planning to stick with Neighbours for the foreseeable future. He is currently balancing his soap commitments with directing and starring in a self-penned play in Melbourne.

"[I'll stay] while I keep enjoying it," he explained. "At the moment, I still love working on the show and look forward to coming to work every day. I have a ball. I keep my outside interests active as well, which keeps me fresh."

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 in the UK and weekdays at 6.30pm on Eleven in Australia.

Scott Major has had to strip off once again for a forthcoming scene in Neighbours.
The actor, who plays unlucky-in-love Lucas Fitzgerald in the Aussie soap, had to bare all apart from a strategically-placed toolbox for a scene with guest star Freya Stafford, who plays Emilia Jovanovic.
"It was a very funny scene to shoot because Freya was laughing about the size of the toolbox which I actually thought was quite impressive," Scott told the soap's official website. :D
The scene, which hits our screens in February, sees Lucas in the buff in the garage in an attempt to convince Emilia he's comfortable being naked.
Luckily Scott is no stranger to stripping off.
He said: "It's definitely a recurring theme and in fact, my first scene on Neighbours as Lucas I was chained naked to a pole."

Neighbours star Scott Major has teased that his character Lucas Fitzgerald will have his world turned upside down in the New Year.

The actor revealed that Lucas will receive a huge shock in 2012 which could ultimately have a positive impact on his life.

Major told Channel 5: "Lucas is about to be hit with the biggest surprise which is going to rock his world initially, but could be the best thing that has ever happened to him."

Meanwhile, asked to name his favourite storylines from 2011, he replied: "Lucas coping with the death of his father was really interesting to play and the crazy girlfriend Michelle stuff, which was really fun."

Last month, Major told Digital Spy that Lucas's edgier side could be revisited in 2012.

"There is a lot planned for next year where you see the other side of Lucas and it's not pretty," he said at the time.

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 in the UK and weekdays at 6.30pm on Eleven in Australia.

Neighbours mechanic Lucas Fitzgerald will be diagnosed with cancer in a forthcoming storyline.

In a cruel blow, the new father receives the bombshell news shortly after his baby son Patrick has been given the all-clear following his own health problems.

Viewers in Australia will see the storyline begin on screen next week, after Lucas has donated some blood to help with Patrick's heart operation.

Dr Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher) tells Lucas that a routine screening of his blood has revealed some abnormalities, and further tests are needed as he may have cancer.

Lucas immediately goes into denial, but the diagnosis of cancer will later be officially confirmed by the hospital.

Scott Major, who plays Lucas, is hoping that the storyline will help to raise awareness of early detection.

In real life, the actor lost his father to non-Hodgkin's mantle cell lymphoma four years ago, while one of his friends is currently battling leukaemia.

Major told Channel 5: "I think it is very important to raise awareness of all kinds of cancer, so to use a platform like Neighbours - which has millions of viewers worldwide - is a fantastic opportunity.

"I was very happy to accept the story. Sadly, everyone in their lifetime will be touched by cancer in some way."

Of Lucas's initial denial, he added: "When you find out a diagnosis like that with the possibility of it being terminal, I've learnt from those around me who have gone through it, there are different stages of grief which includes denial, anger and acceptance, so I think Lucas's reaction is very typical."

Neighbours regular Lucas Fitzgerald faces one of the toughest challenges of his life on UK screens next month as he is diagnosed with testicular cancer.

The mechanic's family life with partner Vanessa Villante and their baby son Patrick is just getting back on track when he receives the worrying news.

Digital Spy recently chatted to Scott Major, who plays Lucas, to hear his thoughts on the emotional storyline.

How did you feel about taking on such a serious storyline?
"Cancer is something that I've been touched by very closely. My father died of cancer four years ago, and I have a very, very close friend who is currently battling leukaemia as well.

"When I was told about the storyline, I suppose the first thing I thought was, 'I hope they're not killing me off!' Second of all, I knew that this was a great opportunity to give some truth to a very serious storyline. I really wanted to make sure that we took it to the next step and represented the storyline in a very true way."

Did you have to do some research into this type of cancer in particular?
"Yes, I did do a little bit of research. I do have another friend who I grew up with who had this particular type of cancer and lost a testicle, so I knew what he'd been through. But I did look further into what it entailed and what the possible outcomes could or would be. I took it very seriously in that respect."

Has the storyline been challenging for you to film?
"Definitely. There are generally some light and soppy moments on Neighbours, but I usually don't get those - I get the bigger and more serious storylines.

"It's certainly been a challenge, as when you're faced with your own mortality, that's a tough thing for anyone to consider. You always believe that it will not happen to you, so when it does, I think the way you look at the world changes."

Neighbours still has a huge audience worldwide. Are you hoping the storyline will help to raise awareness of testicular cancer?
"This is definitely something that I'm hoping comes out of this storyline. Men in general don't go and get themselves checked out if they have an ailment or feel a little bit off. I'd really like it if we could encourage people that it's okay to go and get checked out. The earlier the detection, the better. It'd be great to raise awareness because this illness touches so many people. Hopefully the storyline will do some good."

How does Lucas cope with the news?
"When Lucas first finds out the news, he does what would be a natural thing - he goes into denial and he doesn't want to believe that it's true. The first piece of news he gets is that he has a high white blood cell count. Lucas asks Dr Karl what that could be, so he goes through the options - it could just be a virus or it could be something a lot more serious.

"Lucas tries to convince himself that it is just a virus and everything will be fine, but after some further examination, they find a lump on his testicle. Lucas is still in denial and hopes that it isn't cancer, but then he does find out for sure.

"Once Lucas knows that it is cancer, the next question is whether it's spread. If it has spread into the abdomen, then it could be a lot more serious, but if it's just isolated to the one area, then he could be okay again once they've removed his testicle. Lucas is always looking for the hope and wanting to believe that things will work out for the best."

Why does Lucas hide his news from Vanessa?
"Lucas believes he's doing the right thing. They've been through a very tough time with their son Patrick being in hospital, but now things are starting to look up. Patrick's operation is a success, and they're moving into a new apartment, so Lucas doesn't want to worry Vanessa unnecessarily until they know all the facts.

"Lucas doesn't want to tell Vanessa until he absolutely has to, but he thinks he's protecting her."

Could this situation bring Lucas and Vanessa closer together in the long-term?
"I think any kind of serious illness or grief would definitely bring a couple closer together. If they do manage to get through this, I think they'll be closer than ever."

Do you think Lucas and Vanessa are a good match, or is it a relationship of convenience?
"They've certainly had a rocky road to get to where they are, but I truly believe that they're a great couple. They're very different people and they react differently to a lot of situations. Vanessa is a very fiery sort of character, while Lucas is more of a laid-back Aussie. I think it's a case of opposites attracting. They share a really good bond and have a very, very strong respect for each other."

Are you enjoying working with a baby on set?
"I love working with the baby! We've actually had a couple, because Patrick was in hospital and wasn't able to put on weight. We had a six-week production break over Christmas, so the baby that we originally had was a little bit too big by the time we got back. Although we were off for six weeks, the storyline just continued on to the next day.

"I don't have any children of my own, and playing with the baby on set is great. Although some days you feel sorry for him because 40 people, lights and a microphone isn't always the easiest thing for a baby to

Neighbours actor Scott Major recently chatted about his character Lucas's testicular cancer storyline, which begins on screen in the UK next week.

If you haven't done so yet, check out the first part of the interview here as Scott shares his thoughts on the sensitive story and reveals how Lucas deals with his illness.

Here, Soap Scoop presents part two of the interview as Scott tells us about Steph Scully's return, the recent Neighbours revamp and his future career ambitions.

Here in the UK, we'll be seeing Steph Scully's return scenes next month. Did you enjoy working with Carla Bonner again?
"Absolutely - I love working with Bonns. She's been a friend for a very long time, so it was great to be able to work together again. After the first scene we did together, I told her that it was like she'd never left! We always have a lot of fun together, and this particular return for Steph is a very different one. It was great playing that."

Steph has unresolved feelings for Lucas, but does he realise that?
"He has absolutely no idea! When Steph went into jail, she told him to move on and she didn't allow him to visit her. Lucas has definitely moved on now in a very big way!

"Steph and Lucas were mates for a very long time, so he just assumes that they've gone back to that friendship. He's probably slightly in denial, but even when questioned by people like Sonya and Vanessa, he defends Steph all the way. He genuinely doesn't believe that she has any romantic feelings for him."

What do you make of the recent changes to Neighbours?
"Any time new producers come in, there's always a bit of a shake-up. They've put their own mark on it and brought back some old characters, and I think that's great.

"One thing about Neighbours you can always guarantee is that there'll always be change. The new producers are doing a fantastic job, and I just love getting my scripts each week to discover what's coming up next."

We asked for reader questions and one fan wanted to know whether there'll be more coming up for Lucas and Sonya's friendship…
"Yes, there will be. They have a great relationship and I love working with Eve Morey - we're very close. I will ask the writers for more through this interview, by saying that I'd love Lucas to have more with Sonya too!

"I think they've got a really strong and true friendship. They rely on each other a little bit and fall back on each other when things get tough. Sonya definitely doesn't mince words with Lucas and she tells him how it is, so I think that's a really lovely relationship."

Do you miss the days when Lucas was a bit more of a rogue?
"Well, some of the crew sometimes say, 'When did Lucas become such a good boy?!' I do love playing a bad boy. During most of my career, I have played a rebel of sorts.

"Although I do enjoy that, we all grow up. I think Lucas has definitely grown up now and he has responsibility, so he can't just go out there and be the rebel without a cause."

Some of our readers will know that you're a director as well as an actor. How is everything going on the directing front?
"Things are going well. I've recently directed the Steph webisodes online, and there are six of those coming out altogether. They're prequels showing Steph in jail having counselling sessions. It was great that the production team asked me to do that.

"I believe there is also some more directing of Neighbours coming up for me too, so I'm also looking forward to that."

We know that you also do quite a bit of theatre and writing work alongside Neighbours. What do you have on the go at the moment?
"I've just finished doing a play Closer, which is an English play. I produced, directed and acted in that, and we finished up in March. So far I don't have anything else really on the boil, but I do have a comedy series that I'm writing with a friend, and we're hoping to shoot a pilot for that. I'm also putting together a little bit of a rock documentary on Dallas Frasca, an Australian musician who was recently over in the UK."

Would you like to do some work in the US or the UK in the future?
"Never say never! Australia is a very small pond as far as the world of acting goes. I do love working here, but I would love to come over and work in the UK again. I've already lived in London for two years, and I did a little bit on Doctors and a little bit on Love Soup, too. That was really enjoyable.

"The only thing really holding me back, apart from being on Neighbours at the moment, is getting a working visa to come over. If I can get one of those, I'll definitely be back over there.

Neighbours star Scott Major has admitted that he wants his character Lucas Fitzgerald to have some happiness on the horizon.

Lucas is currently involved in a cancer storyline and has even tougher times ahead as the return of Steph Scully has devastating consequences for his family.

Speaking to TV Choice about Lucas's future, Major commented: "I'd like to see a little bit of happiness and sunshine. That would be good for him, but I don't think that's on the cards.

"I'd like him to continue to be a real person, continue to make mistakes and continue to learn from them, and maybe even add to his family."

Major also joked that his directing work for Neighbours came about after he was a "know-it-all" on set.

The actor has directed episodes of the main soap and also took charge of recently-released webisodes which focus on Steph's time in jail.

He explained: "They actually approached me [to do it] - probably because I walk around like a know-it-all and they thought, 'Oh, right mate. How about putting your money where your mouth is?'

"I was asked by a wonderful woman at work if I'd like to do a director's internship, which I accepted with open arms. One of the directors directed me when I was first on the show, so he's my mentor. Things are going pretty well. It's a very small industry here in Australia, so the more strings to your bow, the better."

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 in the UK, and weekdays at 6.30pm on Eleven in Australia.

Neighbours star Scott Major has revealed details of a possible new health setback for his character Lucas Fitzgerald.

Lucas was diagnosed with testicular cancer earlier this year, and although he seemed to be on the road to a full recovery, an upcoming episode sees him suffer agonising stomach cramps before collapsing.

The incident occurs after Lucas decides to return to work early. After his collapse, Chris Pappas (James Mason) finds Lucas barely conscious at the garage and he is rushed to hospital for tests.

Major told TV Week: "Karl shows him a scan of his stomach. There's this big black mass on the X-ray. Karl thinks the cancer is back and has spread. It's at this point that Lucas thinks, 'This is it'.

"He's fought it and thought he was in the clear. But when he sees the black spot, he thinks the worst. He just can't seem to get a break."

Lucas and his fiancée Vanessa Villante (Alin Sumarwata) are then left on tenterhooks as they hear that more tests will be needed before the doctors can give a firm diagnosis.

Neighbours airs these scenes next week on Eleven in Australia and late July on Channel 5 in the UK.

Neighbours star Scott Major has left the soap, Digital Spy can confirm.

The actor, who has played Lucas Fitzgerald since 2008, finished filming last week.

Cast and crew celebrated Major's five-year stint on the show with a farewell party on Friday evening (June 28).

A Neighbours spokesperson confirmed Major's departure to Digital Spy today (July 1). However, with Lucas remaining on screen for some time to come, further details are being kept under wraps at this stage.

It's also currently unclear whether Major's on-screen partner Alin Sumarwata (Vanessa Villante) will be sticking with the programme after his departure.

A show insider commented: "There's a big few months ahead for Lucas. After so many ups and downs with Vanessa, it'll be interesting to see whether the couple get a happy ending or if there's more heartbreak in store."

Since finishing work at Neighbours, Major has flown off for a European holiday. He will be in London later this month to do press and publicity work for Neighbours' British broadcaster Channel 5.

Lucas was introduced to the soap in July 2008 as the edgy younger brother of Daniel Fitzgerald. His major storylines have included a gambling addiction, taking part in illegal street racing and being diagnosed with testicular cancer.

Major has also occasionally gone behind the camera for directing work at Neighbours, which included taking charge of Steph Scully's recent webisodes.

Neighbours mechanic Lucas Fitzgerald collapses at work later this month, sparking fresh fears over his health.

The worrying incident occurs after Lucas (Scott Major) heads back to the garage earlier than planned, wanting to concentrate on bringing in enough cash to give fiancée Vanessa Villante the wedding of her dreams.

With Vanessa believing that Lucas should be resting after his radiotherapy, he decides to keep her in the dark about what he's doing.

After a hard day's work in which an over-tired Lucas almost causes an accident, he finally pays the price when he collapses in pain - and there's nobody around to help him.

When Lucas is finally found by his employee Chris Pappas, he is rushed to hospital and everyone fears that his cancer has returned and spread. Does Lucas have another health crisis to worry about?

Neighbours Scott Major has revealed that he was initially upset over the decision to write his character out of the show.

It was announced earlier this month that Major, who has been in the show for over five years, had filmed his final scenes as Lucas Fitzgerald.

Major told What's on TV: "The producers actually called me in and told me they felt my character, Lucas, had run his course.

"When I first found out, it was a bit like a girlfriend breaking up with you when you're not ready to break up. 'I'm still into this relationship, how can you not want me?!'

"But in the same conversation they said they didn't want me to leave the building and offered me the chance to direct some episodes of Neighbours.

"It's a big compliment, and I'm happy with that. Directing is a big challenge and I love a good challenge."

Speaking about Lucas's exit storyline, Major added: "I am happy the writers have stayed true to Lucas and given me a massive challenge on the way out.

"Lucas goes down a very dark road before his exit. That was a massive challenge for me as an actor, and I loved it."

Lucas was introduced to the soap in July 2008 as the younger brother of Daniel Fitzgerald. His major storylines have included a gambling addiction, taking part in illegal street racing and being diagnosed with testicular cancer.

Neighbours Scott Major has revealed that he was initially upset over the decision to write his character out of the show.

I don't agree that Lucas had run his course at all

It's the writers' jobs to keep finding stories for good, well-liked actors who are happy to stay.

Neighbours fans were shocked earlier this month as it was confirmed that Scott Major had finished filming his role as Lucas Fitzgerald.

After five years of drama for Lucas, the Erinsborough mechanic will be bowing out later this year - but not before another big storyline for the popular character.

Digital Spy recently caught up with Scott to hear his thoughts on his Neighbours exit and his future career plans.

How are you feeling now that your time at Neighbours has come to an end?
"It was a wonderful, wonderful experience, and I loved every second of working on the show. There just wasn't space for young Lucas. They've been lovely enough to offer me directing work on the show, so I will be staying within the doors of the Neighbours production."

Would you have liked to stay on the show for longer in terms of acting?
"Well, it wasn't my choice to leave - they decided it was time to go. Look to be honest, it felt a little bit like a girlfriend breaking up with you when you weren't ready to finish the relationship. But I think everything happens for a reason. The next stage moving into directing is going to open many doors for me in the future, and I appreciate every minute of every day I work on the show."

So would you say that directing is your main passion, or is it acting?
"Acting will always be my main passion."

And then directing after?
"Yeah, yeah, I love creating television and film. I love creating drama, not in my personal life, more in my professional life. So any element of that is great, but I think I'll always be doing plays, always doing acting somewhere along the line."

We often see Neighbours characters come back after they've left, so would you be interested in returning as Lucas if the opportunity arose?
"Absolutely, if the opportunity arose and was feasible, I would love to come back and work on the show again as Lucas Fitzgerald, or another character, who knows? I might be able to come back as someone else."

What was your last day filming like? Did Neighbours give you a good send-off and a leaving party?
"I threw my own leaving party! I got some lovely gifts, so they were very nice to me. Lots of people turned up to the party, so that was lovely. The last day was very, very emotional."

You must have made some great friendships with the cast and crew.
"Yeah, everyone says it, but the crew that you work with every day, really are your family. I didn't think I'd break on the last day, and I kind of did, but I sort of didn't. My voice went very high, a very high voice and I didn't quite know what to say! (Laughs.) So yes, it was extremely emotional."

We're sure you can't give too much away, but were you pleased with what the producers came up with for your exit story?
"I think it was a massive challenge what they gave me. It was great to explore the darker side of Lucas Fitzgerald. I can't say enough how much I appreciate the respect that the producers showed me. Lucas will be very busy for his last few weeks on air. You'll see a lot of him. And you'll question what you know about him."

Will your directing work on the show be full-time?
"It will be full-time, yeah, until around February I think so far. As long as I don't stuff it up totally, I might hang around a bit longer!"

You did a few of Steph's webisodes, didn't you?
"Yeah I did all of Steph's webisodes, though I was only editor of those. They seemed to be fairly popular, and the producers were happy with those. It was great to be part of. It was a bit different to Neighbours obviously, and that's the point of webisodes I guess, to tell a different story in a different way.

"Now I'm really looking forward to the challenge of producing six episodes of TV every week. It'll be a big challenge. So I'm looking forward, I'm really looking forward to working with the actors from a director's point of view. Hopefully I'll be bringing something new, and putting a little bit of my own stamp on the show."

Which storyline has been your favourite to play?
"I think one of the biggest challenges was when they killed off Lucas's father nine months after my own father died. That was a big challenge for me. Also the testicular cancer storyline, I sort of grabbed that as an opportunity to raise awareness.

"I also liked the long-running storylines of gambling addiction. It gave a bit of reality to the fact that when you're an addict you're not just an addict for a week, you're an addict for life, and it's always going to be just tapping you on the shoulder.

"The stuff I have done with Alin, or Vanessa as you know her, was also fantastic, and I really do love the relationship of Sonya and Lucas. I think that's a really lovely friendship."

There are some great dramas being made here in the UK and in the US. Would you be interested in doing some more work overseas?
"I would love to do some work in the UK, please write that in big letters! I really love the dramas that England produces, and you know the high end of America produces some wonderful stuff too. But you never know what's going to happen. A lot of Australians have headed over to LA and that's what they're all doing, so there is somewhat of a glut of Australian actors over in LA at the moment.

"I would love to work in the UK, I would love to work in America. I also have a little bit of a pipedream - going and living and working in France. Of course I don't speak the language just yet. I'm learning, but that's probably the first thing on the list to do before I try and go over there and get acting work."

Finally, how would you like Lucas to be remembered by the fans?
"As good bloke and someone you'd like to have a beer with."

Neighbours mechanic Lucas Fitzgerald will suffer big losses as he starts gambling again in a new storyline.

Lucas has previously overcome a gambling addiction, but slips back into his old ways as he struggles with debt problems.

The latest crisis for Lucas leads to him agreeing to play poker with bad boy Robbo Slade (Aaron Jakubenko).

Scott Major, who recently filmed his final scenes as Lucas, told TV Week: "He's under a heap of financial pressure. He's put a deposit on a new apartment, the Ramsay Street house hasn't sold and there's another baby on the way.

"When Lucas comes into some money, he's tempted by Robbo to join a high-stakes poker game."

Lucas receives a confidence boost when he wins his first game, but when his pregnant fiancée Vanessa Villante (Alin Sumarwata) suffers a health scare, he decides that he needs more money to pay for private medical treatment.

Unfortunately, this time Robbo decides to fix the game, setting Lucas up for a huge fall.

Major added: "Lucas has no hope of winning thanks to the fixed game Robbo is playing, and he ends up in debt."

Flashing the cash
A familiar face turns up in Erinsborough - but where did his new-found wealth come from?

Elsewhere on Neighbours in coming weeks, an old favourite returns to Erinsborough in mysterious circomstances.

Long-time fans of Ramsay Street will be thrilled to see Lucas (Scott Major) back in town but is this returning resident hiding a dark secret?

When Ben (Felix Mallard) accidentally forgets to lock up the garage, Tyler (Travis Burns) is heartbroken to discover that he's been robbed.

Not only are Tyler's beloved bikes nowhere to be seen but he's liable for everything that's been taken and his job is on the line.

If he can't recover the stolen tools and bikes, there's no way the garage's new owner, who is soon to arrive in town, will keep him on as a mechanic.

With some help from Paige (Olympia Valance) and Mark (Scott McGregor) Tyler busts the crook - much to his relief.

Later, Tyler returns to the garage and is stunned to find the roller door open.

Having just been told by Mark that many criminals get greedy and rob the same place twice, Tyler fears he's being cased and leaping into action, he crash-tackles the intruder to the ground.

Tyler is in for a nasty shock: he's just winded the garage's new owner, Lucas.

While Lucas wonders whether Tyler is trustworthy enough to employ, the residents of Ramsay Street begin to wonder what has brought Lucas back to town.

Sonya (Eve Morey) questions him about about his new-found wealth, curious to know how Lucas raised the funds to buy the garage.

When Lucas dodges her questions and won't provide a straight answer, Sonya's suspicions are piqued. Given his history of gambling addiction, could Lucas' old demons be resurfacing?

Blast from the past
When Tyler and Mark try to catch a criminal, the boys get more than they bargained for!

Ever since the garage was robbed, Tyler's been seriously stressed out. He needs to make sure he catches the perpetrator but he also has to ensure he gets all the stolen property back in this week's Neighbours.

"He's worried about his reputation with the new owner," Tyler's portrayer, Travis Burns explains to TV Week.

To this end, he enlists the help of Mark (Scott McGregor). The Brennan brothers make their way to the garage but find the door open when they get there!

"Tyler's first instinct is that it is happening again and prehaps there is another thief on the loose," Travis, 24, explains.

Thinking he's spotted the intruder, Tyler cash-tackles the man but little does he realise, he's just attacked the new owner, Lucas Fitzgerald (Scott Major.

Tyler quickly says sorry but there's another issue to overcome, as Lucas knows of his dealings with Dimato (David Serafin).

"After Tyler learns who Lucas is, he's very quick to apologise," Travis confirms.

"He hopes Lucas can see the reasons behind his actions and that his good faith will help secure him a job."

When Lucas later catches up with Toadie (Ryan Moloney) and Sonya (Eve Morey), she asks him some hard questions. Like, how is he awash with cash all of a sudden?

Lucas dances around with the issue, further fuelling Sonya's suspicions. As she opens up to Mark about her fears for good mate Lucas, Tyler listens in from a distance.

Is his new boss really a raging gambler?

Hello stranger
Lucas is back on Ramsay Street but what's he hiding?

Tyler and Mark are on the trail of a crook who's nicked some tools from the garage but when they tackle an intruder they get a big surprise as he turns out to be Lucas Fitzgerald!

Yes, the much-missed Lucas is back home in Erinsborough - and he's bought the garage, much to Mark and Tyler's suprise. Needless to say, the new boss isn't very impressed at being rugby tackled by his old mate and his mechanic!

when everyone's introduced and Lucas has been filled in on the Dimato saga, he's reluctant to keep Tyler employed but Mark convinces his pal that his brother's a good bloke, despite all the evidence to the contrary!

Later, as Lucas catches up with Sonya and Toadie, his old friends are suspicious about Mr F's new-found wealth. Where's he got this almighty stash of cash from? How can he suddenly afford to buy the garage?

Worried that addict Lucas cold be gambling again, Sonya confronts him - and her fears are sadly made worse when he's vague about where the money has come from, though he assures her he's not betting. Still not sure we totally believe him, though...

Things look even more suss as Lucas asks Tyler if he can do some extra cash-in-hand work at the garage. Tyler has already overheard Sonya sharing her concerns with Mark about Lucas and Ty is stunned by the idea his new boss could have an out-of-control gambling habit...

Caring Sonya's mind isn't put at rest until Lucas' wife, Vanessa then arrives in Erinsborough to explain all (who else is going to turn up this fornight? Harold!). She reveals to Son their sudden wealth is a result of her selling a cupcake recipe for megabucks but they were told to keep it a secret. It's revealed Lucas' exra work for Tyler was actually delivering cakes!

Sonya's apologetic for thinking the worst of her old mate but as a fellow addict she knows how easy it can be to have a wobble and realises she was just missing her sponsor being around.

So will the newly minted clan be staying in Erinsborough to flash their cash some more and can Tyler and his new boss put their bad start behind them?

What happens next?
Sonya tells Vanessa she's been having a rough time recently. Can her mate help her cope?

Neighbours will welcome back a familiar face next month when Lucas Fitzgerald returns to Ramsay Street.

Lucas (Scott Major) will come back after gaining ownership of the garage but his arrival comes at the worst possible time for mechanic Tyler Brennan, who is in the middle of dealing with a break-in there.

Although Tyler manages to get all the garage's stolen goods back due to some quick-thinking from Paige, Mark warns him that many criminals get greedy and try and rob the same scene twice.

With that in mind, Tyler is alarmed when they arrive back at the garage to discover the door is open, leaving him to fear that it is happening again.

Tyler wrestles Lucas to the ground

As a determined Tyler tackles the intruder to the ground, he is mortified to learn that he has just injured the garage's new owner - Lucas Fitzgerald.

Things then go from bad to worse for Tyler after Lucas hears about his activity with Dimato and is unsure whether to keep him on.

However, it seems that Lucas could be harbouring problems of his own as Sonya questions him about his newfound wealth, prompting him to become increasingly evasive.

As Sonya becomes suspicious that Lucas is in trouble, she finds herself sharing her fears with Mark, leading Tyler to wonder if his new boss is bad news. Is Lucas gambling again?

Last seen in March this year, Scott Major is reprising his role as Lucas for the next big moment in Steph's life - which is sure to be a real treat for long-term viewers.

Die-hard Neighbours fans will remember that Steph gave up Adam when he was born in 2010.

Neighbours confirms return for Scott Major as Lucas Fitzgerald
The list of finale returnees keeps growing.

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a39940992/neighbours-scott-major-lucas-fitzgerald-return/

Neighbours has added another name to its list of iconic returning characters, with Scott Major reprising his role as Lucas Fitzgerald during the show's final ever episodes.

The show has confirmed to Digital Spy that Lucas will briefly be back on Ramsay Street as the long-running soap comes to an end, alongside 23 other beloved characters from the show's history.

Lucas first arrived in Erinsborough in 2008 and was introduced as the brother of Daniel Fitzgerald. During his time on the show, he had romances with Elle Robinson, Steph Scully and Emilia Jovanovic, while he also struggled with a gambling addiction, got involved in illegal street racing and was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

He left Ramsay Street in 2013 after deciding to move away with girlfriend Vanessa Villante and their children, although he has made several guest appearances since, most recently in 2021 when he returned to fire Bea Nilsson from the garage.

Actor Scott has continued to work as a director on Neighbours since leaving behind his on-screen role.

The news comes as we build up to the soap's final episodes, which will be broadcast as a double episode on Monday, August 1 following the cancellation of the soap after Channel 5's decision to stop airing the show in the UK.

Scott will join an impressive list of already-announced returning actors, which includes 1980s legends such as Kylie Minogue (Charlene Mitchell), Jason Donovan (Scott Robinson), Ian Smith (Harold Bishop) and Peter O'Brien (Shane Ramsay).

We'll also be reunited with stars from the 1990s such as Melissa Bell (Lucy Robinson) and Lesley Baker (Angie Rebecchi), while the 2000s will be represented by the likes of Natalie Bassingthwaighte (Izzy Hoyland), Pippa Black (Elle Robinson) and Morgan Baker (Callum Rebecchi).

Stars from the soap's more recent past will be coming back too, including Olympia Valance (Paige Smith), Jodi Gordon (Elly Conway) and Olivia Junkeer (Yashvi Rebecchi).

Some very recently departed actors will also pop back to say goodbye, in the form of Ben Hall (Ned Willis) and Zima Anderson (Roxy Willis).

Executive producer Jason Herbison said of the exciting guest appearances: "Whether the eighties, nineties, naughties or teens is your favourite decade, we will be delivering something for everyone as Neighbours draws to a close.

"Alongside the current cast we will be celebrating the most memorable characters from across many eras, with a few surprises up our sleeve."

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 6pm on Channel 5 and streams on My5. In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on 10 Peach and streams on 10 Play.
