Ravi makes a pass at Russ
Monday

Seemingly a little irritated that Ravi brought his affair with Mandy to a premature end, Warren tells Ravi to fix the DJ booth. When Russ appears, acting as mediator elect between Nancy and Ravi, Ravi enlists his help with the handiwork. The day pushes on and through some fairly grueling work the lads end up getting on really well and Nancy seems all but forgotten, for Ravi at least. As the day comes to a close, Ravi, misreading the signals makes a move on a horrified Russ.

Nancy is upset at having lost Ravi but is too stubborn to admit she might have been a little quick in accusing him of being a pawn in a drug deal for Warren. Russ manages to convince her that she's being presumptuous and that allowing her pride to ruin her relationship with Ravi would be foolish. Nancy concedes that maybe she was a little hasty and resolves to go and see Ravi but when she gets there she is incapable of apologising properly and is back home alone before she knows it.

Back at the flat, Newt is just waking up on the morning of his birthday and although Russ and Nancy are trying their best to be accommodating of him, Nancy knows it can't go on forever so when Frankie rings to invite them both to a secret birthday party she and Lauren have organised for Newt, it seems like the ideal opportunity to reunite them with Newt. Newt reluctantly agrees but gets the impression that Nancy is trying to get rid of him.

At the party, Lauren and Frankie are clearly both desperate to make it up to Newt but his cynicism won't let him accept their apologies. Newt's mind begins to wonder when he receives a birthday card from his mother. Both Frankie and Lauren try, in vain, to apologise to Newt and both are harshly rebuffed. Newt is left feeling totally alone in the world, staring hopefully at the card his mother sent him for his birthday…

Mandy and Warren are on edge ever since Ravi walked in on them together and Mandy, in particular, is convinced Ravi's going to start shooting his mouth off about it to anyone who'll listen. Warren tries to reassure Mandy that Ravi will keep quiet but when Mandy misinterprets the end of a conversation between Nancy and Warren she is certain Nancy knows. Mandy tries to confront Nancy about it but once again gets the wrong end of the stick. Assuming the worst, a panicked Mandy goes to tell Warren that it's over. Warren is cool as ever and tries to calm Mandy but she calls off their affair once and for all.

Justin bumps into his boss, Mr. Sabottini in the village who reveals that the husband of the client Justin has been sleeping with has uncovered their sordid tryst. Justin is gobmacked when Mr. Sabottini sacks him on the spot for unprofessional conduct. Mr. Sabottini asks him where Ste is and Justin quickly covers by telling him Ste's been at the doctor's, just as Ste arrives. Mr. Sabottini quickly rumbles Ste and he, too, is sacked for his troubles. Ste is furious and quick as a flash knocks his former employer clean out. Ironically, Ste has been at an anger management class…

Newt and Lauren share a kiss
Tuesday

Nancy wakes up resolute that she will swallow her pride and resolve her differences with Ravi. Russ, however, has major reservations about their future given that Ravi made a pass at him the night previous. Without revealing the shock kiss last night, Russ tries to convince Nancy to leave it until later after he's had a chance to talk to Ravi, but she's determined.

Nancy goes to see Ravi and apologises for her behaviour. He's relieved that Russ hasn't mentioned anything to her and gladly agrees to go to dinner with her. Concerned for Nancy's feelings, Russ decides to pay Ravi a visit. Ravi pleads with Russ not to tell anyone about his bisexuality. Russ agrees on the grounds that he at least comes clean with Nancy or, failing that, break things off with her. Ravi meets up with Nancy and as much as he wants to sort things out with her he isn't willing to compromise his reputation by telling her the truth so, to her surprise, Ravi breaks it off with Nancy.

Justin and Ste are already struggling with unemployment and although Justin's mum has sent them a parachute payment while they look for new jobs, Justin's keen to sort things sooner rather than later. Justin bumps into Leila in the SU bar and after a frosty start they quickly reconcile. Leila is clearly still a little smitten by Justin and when he mentions that he's looking for a job, she gets Hannah to ask about bar work in the SU. In return, Justin promises to help Leila make a film for her art project.

During filming, Justin decides, although it seems silly to him, he and Leila are getting on well again and tries his best to help out. Ste passes them and loudly asks Justin if he's heard from the client he'd been sleeping with. Oblivious to Leila's feelings, Justin bemoans the fact that she hasn't been in touch and Leila begins to wonder if she should be helping Justin after all. Leila's sense of betrayal is further compounded when Hannah tells Justin the job in the SU bar is all his if he wants it, suddenly everything's going Justin's way…

Lauren goes to see Newt again, determined to prove to him that she is sorry for not believing him about Niall. Newt still won't talk to him but she manages to convince him to read her diary, her most intimate possession, as an insight into her feelings about him.

Meanwhile, Cindy has convinced Frankie to reopen the Dog in attempt to re-acclimatise Newt and the rest of the community to a bit of normality. Newt considers this with grave suspicion and is sure Cindy's only doing it for her own good. In a hurry to get away from her, Newt leaves Lauren's diary open in the pub and when he comes back to it, he finds Cindy reading it aloud in the pub. He is furious but doesn't want Cindy to see that she's got to him so he doesn't react. Unfortunately, at that moment Lauren walks in and witnesses her worst nightmare first hand. Lauren is devastated and runs out of the pub, Newt chases her and through a mutual hate for Cindy and a devious plot for revenge, they are suddenly friends again.

Newt and Lauren go back in The Dog and when Cindy goes to eat her lunch she's hit with a nasty surprise. United once again through their triumph, the two young friends finally give in to their desires and Newt kisses Lauren on The Dog's jetty.

Hannah organises the Halloween ball
Wednesday

Frankie's going to court to see Jack and Darren make their plea and Newt wants to come along. Frankie's reluctant to expose Newt to any more tragedy and refuses but Newt sees it as yet another instance in which Frankie won't treat Newt as an adult. Things escalate between the pair and they end up having a massive row in front of everyone in The Dog, culminating in Frankie yielding to Newt and telling him that they are going to have to sell The Dog.

Newt is gob-smacked and is now more certain than ever that he won't be able to stay with Frankie. Frankie comes to find Newt to apologise and although Newt is genuinely sorry to have fought with Frankie, he plays happy families to distract Frankie from the fact that he and Lauren are planning on running away together. They escape to the Valentines' together but just as they are packing their things up, Frankie cottons on and hurries round to the Valentines', just in time to stop the star-crossed lovers from fleeing Hollyoaks forever…

Justin is on his first day as the new bartender at the SU bar and is keen to help out Leila in return for everything she did for him the day before, not to mention the fact that he was the subject of her film. The room at college Leila had reserved for her screening has been double-booked, so Justin offers her use of the SU bar. This seems ideal to Leila since the film had come to serve a double purpose of both artistic integrity and humiliating Justin, in return for the fact that he had been sleeping with one of his clients. The film is a great success, satirising the archetypal alpha male and Leila's chuffed until she realises how much she's offended Justin - has she been a bit harsh on him after all?

Rhys comes home to find Gilly and gloats that he has pulled and he's got the girls number scrawled on his arm to prove it. Gilly tells Rhys to pay up on their bet but Rhys maintains that this mysterious girl will be in The Dog later that evening. Gilly isn't convinced but is willing to humour his friend for the sake of winning the wager. When no-one turns up in the pub and Rhys still won't stump up the cash, the boys decide to head over to the SU bar to see if she has mistakenly gone there instead. Again there's nobody there and Gilly tells Rhys to give it up. Not wanting to admit that he's lost his mojo, Rhys offers Gilly double or nothing that he can pull any girl Gilly picks for him. Seeing a fish in a barrel, Gilly accepts and chooses Leila. Rhys tries it on over and again with Leila until he has been well and truly humiliated and Gilly collects his twenty pounds, a happy man.

Hannah's rushed off her feet trying to organise the Halloween ball and Elliot, despite of his best efforts, is only serving to get under Hannah's feet. Hannah realises that Elliot's only trying to help and admires his enthusiasm, even if he is a little over the top. Elliot offers to go back to the Ashworths' with Hannah to help her while she sorts her costume, but when he gets there he is quickly distracted by Neville's model space rocket. Elliot soon forgets why he's at the the house and when Neville comes home, there's an instant bond forged between the two model enthusiasts. Is Elliot perhaps better suited to friendship with Neville than his daughter?

New decides to go live with his mum
Thursday

Newt's left to look after Holly by Cindy but his mind's dominated by his phone call to his mum. Newt is used to his Mum letting him down and is surprised when she arrives to see him as arranged. He is further delighted when she tells him that she is drug-free and has wanted to contact him for a while. Meanwhile, Frankie returns from Jack and Darren's sentencing and is somewhat concerned to find Newt talking to a strange woman outside The Dog. She immediately becomes defensive when she discovers it's Shelley, Newt's mother. Newt, in a misguided bid to relieve Frankie's pressures of the pub auction and baby Charlie, announces he has decided to go and live with his mother.

Hannah rounds up her helpers for the Halloween Ball. The only problem is that they all have personal issues within the group. There's Justin and Leila who aren't speaking and Sarah and Elliot, who are going through a weird phase following their break-up. The jobs are delegated and a stressed-out Hannah oversees everything, getting more worked up by the minute, particularly when there is a power failure in the SU Bar. How is she going to host a Ball without electricity?

Meanwhile, Sarah is experiencing some serious jealousy about how close Hannah and Elliot are getting. Her anger reaches a peak as she takes some scissors and cuts up Hannah's Halloween dress, leaving it in shreds. Surprised at herself, she puts the dress back where it was and runs off without saying anything. Fearing she may have to cancel the ball, a humiliated Hannah walks back to discover Sarah's aggressive costume changes.

When Rhys and Gilly are left in charge of Drive 'N' Buy, it can mean only one thing - they're going to be up to no good. The lads make a bet on who will be able to pull the next girl that walks in by using their alter egos – Gilly, an ex-fighter pilot and Rhys, among other things, an internet millionaire. Rhys is in there first and manages to wangle himself a date with a beautiful girl called Amber. Unfortunately, by the time she comes back to meet him, she has remembered where she knows his face from - his publicised incestuous relationship with his sister. He's devastated this is still haunting him. Meanwhile a distracted Neville is behaving rather suspiciously, giving Rhys the impression he is cheating on his Mum. This couldn't be true, could it?

Elliot reveals his true feelings to Hannah
Friday

Hannah is stressed by her shredded dress and power cut at the SU Bar ahead of the Halloween Ball and takes her frustrations out on Elliot, not realising that he has sorted the electrics for her. Leila decides to take matters into her own hands and reads Elliot's palm, convincing him that Hannah is the one and he should tell her how he feels.

Meanwhile, Rhys and Gilly are on the prowl for girls but while Gilly and Leila seem to be getting on, Rhys' attempts at pulling Sarah fail miserably. After a much concerted effort from Leila to get Hannah and Elliot together, the pair finally dance and Hannah apologises for her earlier behaviour and is stunned when Elliot declares his lover for her. As they are announced as the best costume competition winners, the pair share their first kiss.

Frankie is reeling from the news that Newt is moving back with Shelley and tries her best to convince him to stay. Cindy is also outraged at Newt's decision and has a go at him, reminding him of how good Frankie has been. Lauren doesn't take Newt's news well and the pair part on bad terms after Lauren pleads with him to stay but to no avail.

Eventually realising that she is powerless to stop him, Frankie braves her goodbye with Newt, holding back any emotion to avoid causing him upset until he leaves. However, it doesn't take long for Newt to realise that Shelley hasn't changed when she insults Lauren, calling her a freak. A desperately sad Frankie's stripping Newt's bed when she turns to see him in the doorway. Overjoyed, she hugs him tight.

Carmel is full of fear about going out in the village, having lost all confidence in herself. She soon has to confront a gang of youths at the skate park but the group taunt her, sensing her fear and jumpiness immediately. She is helped by DI Mark Gascoyne but leaves in tears. Returning home, she tells Lauren that she is leaving her job as a PSCO. Mark turns up at the Valentines' and tries to convince Carmel that what happened with Niall wasn't her fault. Carmel disagrees and throws Mark out the house.

Justin's still giving Leila the cold shoulder and mocks her act as a fortune teller. Playing along, Leila innocently claims there's a young blonde girl trying to communicate with him from beyond the grave. Justin is outraged at Leila's insensitivity and she is mortified when she is told about Justin's sisters. She later apologises and the pair call a truce. Later, Leila and Gilly are having fun together at the ball which leads to them kissing, witnessed by a jealous Justin. Justin is put out further when Leila ignores him when he wins third place in the costume competition. Justin is shocked as Gilly comes in second but still wins a kiss from Leila.
