I had my first scan on 31st October and found out i wasnt as far as what my docs had said.

I am now 16 weeks 1 day.

Still having sickness and its horrible. Hope it stops soon.

I think we will find out the sex if the nurse (or whatever you call them) can tell what the baby is.

I am 18 weeks now.

Does a baby start to kick around this time cos i dont want to sound thick but im sure baby kicked this morning about 5 times. It felt like a kick if you know what i mean. I dont know how to explain it but i thought it was anyway.

I still am sick every now and then but it seems to have settled down mostly now. Just feeling tired alot.

Siobhan
08-12-2008, 14:18
Yeah.. baby can start to kick now.. if feels at first, like butterflies in your tummy but then you will start for feel a good hard kick later on.. Cute when this first starts but if you had one like mine, you will get pretty sick of been kicked every minute

When I was pregnant with my son, I had morning sickness only 3 times and they went completely after I was 3 months gone. Can't say that I noticed the butterfly kicks, they were more prominent than that but the midwife reckoned I did not notice them properly. :)

How good am I? Septic Peg eat your heart out :D by the way if your suffering from heatburn it means the baby has hair, though I'm not sure about that because I never had one bit of hearburn when I had my daughter and she was born with a mop of hair.

10 May great birthday my nephew Iain was born on the 10th many moons ago, another great name apart form Daniel and Matthew is Paul after Mr Paul Hewson the Legendary Bono who was born on the 10th of May.

11-01-2009, 17:14

I am now 31 weeks and 3 days

Sorry but this is gunna be long.
On saturday night me and DH decided to order a chinese takeaway which we ate, watched 28 Weeks Later and then went to bed. I woke up at around 3.30 and rushed to toilet n threw up. I then woke up quite a few times during the night to be sick again. Had hardly any sleep and stayed in bed till 2ish in the afternoon on Sunday cos i was just throwing up allt he time and had no energy and had really bad diarehoa (tmi). When i did get up DH gave me some Cornflakes to eat and i threw up after them. I tried drinking water and just threw up.
Went to bed that night and again threw up a couple of times so on Monday morning i rang hospitals day unit who told me to try and sip water which i did and still threw up. I rang again and they told me to go to doctors, so i made an appointment to see my doctor for 4pm. Went to the appointment and she gave me a letter and sent me down to A&E.
When i got there they stuck a plastic thing (cant remember name of it) into my hand and took blood from it, then also give me some anti-sickness medicine through it and then put on the IV drip. Had to give a urine sample. I felt so weak, when i coughed i had sharp pains in my back and sides and could hardly walk. I had keytones in my urine and so had to be sent upto Maternity assesment. They did a CTG (i think) and said baby was fine. They said i was suffering from tachycardia (fast heartrate) and very servere dehydration. They needed to keep me in cos the symptoms i was having could be a sign of hypertension. (dunno what that is)
Eventually at 10pm i was taken to my room and Simon had to go. By this time the fluids they were giving me through the drip were starting to make me feel a little better and i was starving (since i hadnt eaten for 2 days) they gave me a ham sandwich and i went to sleep. They changed the IV drip a few times and altogether i was given 4 litres of fluids through it. By the morning there was only a small trace of keytones in my urine and i was able to eat some cornflakes so the doctor was happy for me to be discharged. She said that it was most probably food poisoning that had caused all of this. So i got home yesterday and just had a relaxing day reminding myself never to have a takeaway again.

Abigail
11-03-2009, 15:28
Oh dear. I was thinking of food poisoning after you said you'd had a takeaway and was throwing up.

Good thing is you're ok now and there's no damage to the baby.

Hypertension is high blood pressure, which can be a symptom of pre-eclampsia.

Not long to go now. Have you thought of any names?

Our surname is Britton so we are trying to find names that fit with it. First names and middle names.

The names we like are Matthew, Damien and Daniel.

I would love my son to be callen Damien Matthew Britton but people keep annoying me and saying "oh well thats like the Omen, devil child". Argh that annoys me so much.

I dont like common names, you know the ones that all kids have at the moment. I want something different but not stupid. A traditional name not modern n stupid.

Since the beggining of the pregnancy i have been trying to think of names and could never think of any for a boy lol if we had a girl she would have either been Isabelle or Maisie but boys are harder to choose for lol.

What would you lot recomend, any of the above names or any others would be great to fit with our surname.

Thanks

Micci 33 weeks n 1 day lol

Miccisy, you shouldn't mind what other people say about Damien... the kids in his class are not going to know so he won't be slagged of there... I like Damien or Daniel

I also like Jason or James.. even Michael

Abigail

I like Isaac and Rueben for boys, with River as a middle name.

For girls I like Matilda, Indi (Indianna) and Ruby

My niece is called Maisie Ysobel (pronounced Isabelle), she loves her name.

EDIT: Just flicked up to the top and realised you're having a boy :lweek:

when my mum was pregnant with my brother and she was overdue by a week the midwife told her to eat a fresh pineapple (: god knows how that would help but obviously they think it will.

and also (she could have said this when is wasn't in the room!) but sex is supposed to help, but I always think that a woman who is term plus really wouldn't be in the mood to do anything let alone that!

Hope he comes along soon! x

I am going to be very boring and say: when the time is right for baby, baby will come. Perhaps he need that little bit of extra time, mothers/doctors/midwives have got dates wrong, so I would wait to be induced if this is medically required, otherwise let nature decide when time is best :)

Chloe O'brien
18-05-2009, 22:52
The horrible thing about being induced is that they strap sensors on your belly to monitor the baby's heartbeat and contractions and they don't come off until baby is born. The poor mother is restricted to moving around that's why so many females hate being induced but the hospital will only leave the mother up to two weeks past her due date then they have to bring baby out. A helping hand with a few pineapples and a bumpy car ride is much more dignified than being strapped up and monitored each time you move.

Hollie-x
19-05-2009, 16:38
What's a sweep?

It's where the midwife sweeps your membranes, it's usually done to try and bring on labour. THey do it like when you're overdue and try it before they actually induce you but it doesn't always work.

Hope baby comes sometime soon Miccisy! You must be so tired now x

I had this on both my kids and I wasn't induce on any of them... my baby heart rate dropped during labour and I had to be monitored at all times.. plus I had the epidural so I couldn't leave the bed

4 weeks? Did not think that the doctor would allow a mum to go over for this long.

My brother was 4 wks overdue and had to be resuscitated at birth so I understood the norm these days (or at least for the past 15 yrs) is to be induced at term plus 10-14 dependant on area too.

Good luck - hope everything goes well and don't worry about going to the wedding - it will probably be far easier with your baby being a week old than if he were a month old! Believe me - might not seem like it, but it will be fine

Sorry i havnt been on in a while but have been busy with baby.
I was due to be induced on the 23rd n rang the hospital in at 7am n they said they had no beds n that i should ring back at 10ish.
At 8.30am i had pains in my stomach, got up to go to toilet and started leaking. But it was brown leakage. Left it a while to see what happened n i kept leaking little bits. Started getting contractions every 5 mins lasting around 45 seconds straight away. Rang hosp at 9.30am n got there for 10am. They said baby had pooed in my waters and that it was my hind waters that had gone.
Put me in birth room and gave me gas and air which was crap. I had high blood pressure so the mw advised that i had epidural which i did n it was great. MW broke my waters at 2ish and at 7.23pm i had Thomas Daniel Britton.
Labour was horrible. His head wouldnt come out so they had to cut me. Stitches sting a bit but are ok.
Hubby sat at end of bed watching everything all the way through. I cried so much after when he was born. I was so happy. He weighed 8lb 8oz.

But congratulations to you and hubby xxx

He is now 11 days old. He is so cute. He isnt a screamer which is a good thing.

I am still very tired getting used to feeding during the night but dont mind doing it.

Thomas looks so much like his dad.

To update you all

Thomas is now 4 months old. He is a good baby doesnt really cry that much.

He has just started having 2 meals a day and loves it. Although he does get it all over lol.

He is really strong and is nearly sitting up on his own and when he rolls onto his belly he wiggles his arms and legs just cant get his stomach off the floor. Shouldnt be long and he will be crawling.
Also 2 days ago he started saying mummy. He sounds so cute.
