Monday 13th Oct

Lily (Anne Charleston) worries the other factory workers when she goes AWOL. Steeling herself, she heads to the factory to tell the others that they misread their raffle ticket number and didn’t win. The blame falls on Pearl (Meg Johnson) who memorised the number. The others are aghast but Val (Charlie Hardwick) goes mental, berating her stupidity. Lily feels the guilt swallow her up as the dreams of her friends go up in smoke. Val tells Lily that Pearl won’t be forgiven easily and feels even worse for her friend. Back home, Pearl can’t help voice her suspicions that she gave the ticket to Peter. Lily insists she didn’t and Pearl pretends to believe her. Lily is left feeling even more guilty.

In the café Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) overhears people talking about Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) and Jo and is shocked when Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) tries to tell her that the rumours are true – Andy was hitting Jo. Victoria can’t believe it at first but soon comes round and hates Andy for what he’s done. Bumping into Daz (Luke Tittensor), Victoria says she won’t visit Andy because of his violence against Jo. However, Daz lets doubt creep in when Andy blames his problems on Diane and asks Andy to tell him again it’s all lies. Andy does this and Daz is appeased.

Meanwhile, the atmosphere is still tense between Jake (James Baxter) and Jasmine (Jenna-Louise Coleman). It isn’t helped when Shane (Paul McEwan) decides to prop up the Woolpack bar all day. In an attempt to smooth things over with Jasmine, Jake organises a party to celebrate Mel and Greg selling their house, but he angers Shane by not extending and invitation. Jasmine is pleased to be invited and clearly still has feelings for Jake.

Tuesday 14 October

Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) is frustrated to hear that he won’t get out of hospital for another week and is wound up by Daz’s (Luke Tittensor) tales of the happy family scene at Butlers. Daz is later shocked to return to the room to find that Andy has discharged himself. Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) goes back to Butlers to apologise to Jo (Roxanne Pallett) and assure her that she has her support. With Sarah at Diane’s (Elizabeth Estensen), Debbie (Charley Webb) suggests the three of them have a girls afternoon with wine and a DVD. Later they’re shocked when an angry Andy appears. Jo urges Victoria to leave whilst she and Debbie face up to his fury. He angrily searches for Sarah before lunging at both Jo and Debbie – just in time for Daz to bear witness. Andy still can’t say the words but Daz knows the truth. Daz breaks down and later apologises to Jo.

Debbie, Jo and Victoria head to the pub and fill Diane in. She heads to Butlers to find Andy with a bottle of tequila, having taken a number of pills. Diane’s incredulous when he blames her affair with Billy for all his troubles. Defiantly he takes another. Diane changes tack and suggests he may as well go ahead as according to him, nobody will miss him and that Sarah is better off without him. She goads him by saying that if he doesn’t do it right he faces a slower, more painful death, not the coward’s way out. Diane urges him to see that the only person to blame is himself. Andy collapses in the depth of his emotion. With nobody else to blame, Andy admits to Diane that he hit Jo.

At Tenants, Jake’s (James Baxter) party is in full swing until Shane (Paul McEwan) turns up, claiming he’s had several complaints. He then quietly goads Jake by suggesting that he’d been sleeping with Jasmine (Jenna-Louise Coleman) whilst they were together. Jake takes a swing at Shane playing right into his hands and he arrests him. Jasmine is shocked as Jake accuses her of cheating on him. She and Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) go to the station to see him. Jake tries to explain what Shane told him but Jasmine doesn’t believe him. She calmly admits that the night’s events have confirmed for her that their relationship is over.

Wednesday 15 October

A concerned Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) heads over to the B&B and tells Jamie (Alex Carter) and Louise (Emily Symons) of Bob’s (Tony Audenshaw) plans to break into the prison. They run out in time to see Bob leaving. Louise follows him and is just in time to see him clamber on the back of the truck. Trying to pull him out she ends up in there too. However the truck goes to the tip and a furious Louise ends up covered in rubbish. She admonishes Bob but all he can think about is that his plan failed. Later Bob receives a call from the prison theatre company – the person they employed has dropped out and he’s got the job. Bob is thrilled he’ll finally get to see Viv.

Elsewhere, Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) goes with a grateful Jake (James Baxter) to court. Meanwhile Ashley (John Middleton) receives a phone call from Mel and is shocked to discover that Tenants has been trashed following Jake’s party. Jake returns buoyant from court with only a fine. However Ashley has to report that the buyers have pulled out of the sale. Jake is crestfallen that he’s let his parents down. Ashley explains that they were just worried and after a phone call Jake decides to go and stay with them for a while.

At the Woolpack, Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) overhears Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) telling Val (Charlie Hardwick) that Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) was going to kill himself. Angry that he was going to take the coward’s way out she heads off to see him. However Daz (Luke Tittensor) stops her in her tracks and suggests that at the root of her anger is that she would have missed Andy. He promises to look out for her and Victoria is grateful. Later Daz calls at the Woolpack to check on her. Daz admits to Diane that he can’t bring himself to see Andy yet as he’s still so angry. He reveals that he’s decided to go to Portugal with Jake. Understanding, Diane insists she’ll pay.

Thursday 16 October

Jamie (Alex Carter) and Terry (Billy Hartman), shocked to hear from Louise (Emily Symons) that Bob (Tony Audenshaw) will be teaching at the prison that day, try in vain to dissuade him. Viv (Deena Payne) is astonished to see that Bob is holding the drama class. When he picks her out of the group to run through some lines, she reluctantly joins him. Bob whispers that he loves her but Viv is unable to cope with him seeing her in there and admits to the other prisoners that Bob is her husband. She tells him she loves him too, before rushing out in tears. Bob is forced to admit to an official that Viv’s right. Despite Bob asking to be kept on the official tells him it’s not possible and that he must respect Viv’s wishes to be left alone. Bob is disconsolate but Terry and Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) urge him to think of the twins.

Also, Shadrach (Andy Devine) turns up at Ashley (John Middleton) and Laurel’s (Charlotte Bellamy) with a computer. He explains that a friend didn’t want it anymore. Ashley later worries they ought to give it back as it’s bound to be a knock-off but Laurel insists Shadrach’s been good to them and they shouldn’t be judgemental but Ashley can’t take the chance. Hurt, Shadrach tells him he found it in a skip outside a closed down church. Ashley sees it as a sign and heads home with it to get the church website up and running in time for tomorrow’s music night.

Elsewhere, Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) is annoyed that Daz (Luke Tittensor) is going to Portugal and leaving her in the lurch. Her mood is further darkened when Scarlett (Kelsey-Beth Crossley) mentions that Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) paid for his break. Diane insists that she can’t let Victoria have weeks off school to go with him. A surly Victoria slopes off. Val (Charlie Hardwick) catches up with her and explains that Diane’s struggling too and it’s Victoria’s chance to act like the adult she wants to be.

Friday 17 October

The Bishop (Peter Cartwright) admits to Ashley (John Middleton) that he’s looking to promote him to be vicar of a Leeds parish as the Emmerdale Church is likely to close. Ashley is fuming and suggests to Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) they call an emergency meeting to rally support. However, Ashley is deeply disappointed when only Doug (Duncan Preston) and Edna (Shirley Stelfox) attend. Ashley confides in Laurel that he can’t fight alone for a parish where he’s not wanted. He thinks they should tell the bishop they’ll look at taking the job offer.

Meanwhile, Jo (Roxanne Pallett) is shocked when Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) lets slip about Andy’s (Kelvin Fletcher) suicide attempt. Jo wonders whether to go and see him but together with Victoria, decides that he’s no longer her problem. Back in hospital, Andy reveals to Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) that he’ll be discharged in a few days, but she worries when Andy tells her he cancelled his psychiatric evaluation. Later Diane asks Jo whether she plans to stay on at the farm, and Jo confirms she’s staying, and that she doesn’t want Andy anywhere near her or Sarah.

Meanwhile, Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) confides in Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) she can’t lead Doug on as she doesn’t feel anything for him. However, Gennie thwarts Brenda’s attempts to give Doug the brush off and sets them up for a date in the Woolpack that evening. Brenda is blunt with Doug and explains that they’re not compatible. She goes on to say that she’s got feelings for someone else. Doug holds his pride and accepts her decision.
