The first of two interviews before new drama thriller, Thin Air kicks off this Monday, October 13th. Here to tell us more about the drama and her role within it is Joanna Froggatt who plays a character called Michelle...

Hello Joanna. We'd just like to have a quick chat to you about new drama thriller Thin Air which is due to start on Soapboards this Monday.

Joanna: Great! It certainly is a drama I have enjoyed working on and I hope my role within this thriller is a role the reader will like :)

Briefly, could you tell us what your character Michelle is all about?

Joanna: She is present throughout the whole of the first series and I play a character called Michelle who is dating a father of one of the women that dissapears. She is a very feisty and gutsy character and she doesn't hit it off very well with Victoria, who is the daughter that goes missing, which makes her a suspect.

Sounds very intriguing indeed! You say your starring in the whole of the series, so how long is the drama thriller lasting for?

Joanna: It starts October 13th and will end next May. It lasts a long time, but I can promise the reader that the mystery will be solved by that time so there will be no annoying cliffhangers!

You say your character doesn't get along very well with the daughter, Victoria who goes missing. What is your character's relationship like with her father?

Joanna: Well Michelle likes to think she loves the father who is called Mick, very much but my character is an individual who is desperate to give love to someone, to whatever man first bats an eyelid at her and this is because of a marriage breakdown she suffered with 2 years before. She cares for Mick, she looks after him and takes care of his needs, especially as Mick has problems of his own... but loving him is in an entirely different league..

Does Mick love Michelle?

Joanna: I don't think he does. Mick fancies her but he is just looking for someone on a superficial level as he has just got out of prison and wants to resume a sex life he hasn't had in so long. He treats my character like a princess, but there are occasions where he flies off the handle at my character and Michelle must keep him under control...

Why does Victoria take a dislike to your character?

Joanna: I think that she sees Michelle as a threat. Mick has 3 kids, Victoria and 2 other children and they've stayed like that as a family unit for a long time. Mick has had endless failed relationships, and now I've waltzed in, wanting to offer some love and care towards Mick and I think Victoria sees me as a threat to her status within the family home, as she is so used to taking on a motherly role, and loving and caring for her father. She probably thinks I'm also bad news for her father, after his string of past failed relationships.

Can you give us any tips on what your character will be up to throughout this series?

Joanna: My character is going to feature quite a bit. She is there to pick up the pieces and keep Mick and his 2 kids together as a family unit following Victoria's disappearance, but she soon becomes a suspect after the police discover the rivalry I had with Victoria. There will also be a series of flashbacks that make me a bigger suspect and Michelle has a massive secret that will turn the police investigation on its head...

Oooh tell us more?!

Joanna: Afraid not! Readers will have to read and find out what my big secret is.

Finally, can you give the readers a taster on the format of this series?

Joanna: The first week of scenes basically sets the scene. Nothing special happens but the reader is given an insight into each of the 3 women and their family lives before they vanish into thin air. The next week, the 3 women then disappear and the reader is given an insight into the familys' reactions, and from then on, each family is focused on a week at a time in the present day as well as in flashbacks. The flashbacks have a purpose in focusing on certain individual characters, as the reader is given an insight into what their motivations are within the drama, what family life was like, and what could have triggered the three women all dissapearing into thin air..

INT. GRIDDLE FAMILY MANSION - MORNING

We see a young woman getting out of bed and reaching for her stereo, to switch it on. She turns on the radio and upbeat music starts blaring out. The young woman, named Libby falls back onto her bed, smiling with pleasure. The camera cuts downstairs to her parents, Natalie and Paul who are in the kitchen.

Paul: Jesus Christ! Why on earth does that girl have her music on so loud!?

Paul rushes out of the kitchen and approaches the stairs, shouting up them.

Paul: Libby! Turn that retchid music down ya hear me!?

There is no response. Paul rolls his eyes and goes back into the kitchen. He sees his wife, Natalie looking unhappy.

Paul: Jeez..whats up love? If you don't wanna make me breakfast, I'll happily cook a fry up for you..

Natalie: I'm not unhappy over household chores Paul! Have a look at this..

Natalie opens up the newspaper and lays it on the table. Paul sits down and reads the headline "Havin' a griddlin' time". There is a picture of Libby throwing up in the toilet accompanying the article.

Paul: What on earth!?

Natalie: The papers aren't gonna lay off us Paul! I mean, we're old news right? So why is it 6 months after winning the lottery that the papers remain so bloody interested in us!?

Paul: They obviously have no other interesting stories to tell... could have been worse love... she could have been on the front page!

Natalie: Oh trust you to look on the bright side!

Paul: We're bound to get attention Nat.. I mean, we won the lottery for christ sake! It was a stroke of luck that we did, our fortunes literally turned around overnight!

Natalie: But it happened ages ago! I think we should tone it down a bit... Libby is being terrible! Showing herself off, spending all our money, going out on benders, taking drugs.. she's gettin' us on the front page because of her silly behaviour!

Paul: She'll calm down...how do you expect her to react!? We're half a million pounds richer.. and it happened overnight! Libs ain't gonna stay cooped up in her bedroom now is she!? She's gonna be out there, showing off our riches..

Natalie: I'm not saying she's to blame for all this.. I mean both of us have been pretty bad...getting that posh car .. having interviews with the papers, playing on our sob story.. I just think now, maybe we should stop chasing the limelight, we should stop showing off... it scares me that as a family, we're becoming so well known to everyone... we have to remember that some people aren't as lucky as us and we should know that having lived on a council estate and nearly losing our flat.

Paul: Ok.. I guess I can see your point love.. maybe we should talk about this as a family though eh? See what Libby and Laura think..

Natalie: Ok :)

Natalie puts on a brave smile and Paul goes over to give her a loving hug.

INT. WIGHTS HOUSE - DAY

Middle aged parent, Simon is in the living room. Simon is avidly watching Bargain Hunt when his wife, Tasha walks in.

Tasha: When are you going into work today?

Simon: I'm not... I called in sick..

Tasha: Why did you do that!?

Simon: A day off every now and again doesn't do any harm .. I just woke up this morning and thought to hell with work... I'll make a nice cup of tea, have a packet of digestives and dunk each one in my tea, take a bite and watching some wonderful daytime telly...

Tasha: I thought the bank was relying on you Simon! I thought you wanted to make a good impression.. you said about getting yourself a promotion?

Simon: Call me a cynic if you want but I don't have that promotion! That Jezza bloke has it in the bag..

Tasha: Your such a cynic Simon! ... but as a matter of fact, I'm glad you've decided to stay at home today..

Simon: Oh yeah?

Tasha: We need to talk about Isabelle..

Simon: Oh god, whats she done now!?

Tasha: She's done nothing! I wanted us to talk about her 18th birthday, I want to make it special..

Simon: What's so special about 18? .. I remember when I turned 18.. I just had a few beers with friends..

Tasha: Don't you want to make our daughter feel special?!

Simon: Of course! I just don't see the big hoo haa about it that's all.. 17 turning 18... it's all just numbers isn't it really..

Tasha: Well it's nice to know I have your full support in this love! :rolleyes:

Simon: Let's see what Isabelle wants to do first eh? I can imagine her not wanting to kick up too much of a fuss about it.. so before we get too carried away on plans, lets see what she wants..

Tasha: But I wanted to make a surprise for her! Organise a surprise party for her somewhere or something..

Simon: Why do you want to make such a big deal about it!?

Tasha: Because our daughter is going to be 18, officially an adult!

Simon: It's more than that though isn't it?

Tasha: Well you can't deny that we haven't been paying much attention to her lately.. what with all the problems with her sister and everything..

Simon: True.. but I'm sure she's glad of the independence..

Tasha: But you know we haven't been the perfect parents to her..

Simon: What do you mean!?

Tasha: (slightly angry) You know what I mean!

Simon looks baffled. Tasha looks at her husband and leaves the room.

INT. GREAVES HOUSE - DAY

Victoria is in the dining room, talking with her younger brother and sister. There is suddenly a crash in the kitchen. Victoria rushes in and sees dad Mick slumped against the back door, with his new girlfriend Michelle, slightly tipsy, trying to help him up.

Michelle: (giggling) Get up ya silly man! Get up!

Victoria: And look what the cat dragged in! ... the slut and the drunk that probably can't tell he's being an absolute ****.. you know! I've been with them all afternoon, (points to kids) I picked them up from school.. I've looked after them.. and where were you for the 5th day running eh!? Down the pub, probably getting your dick into this tart's dirty knickers!

Michelle: You cow!

Victoria: Moo bloody moo..

Michelle: Your dad's finding it tough.. he's told me all about it.. getting out of prison and everything...

Victoria: That's no excuse! These kids and me! We couldn't wait for him to get out, for us to be a proper family unit again but he's gone and ballsed it all up.. getting drunk every night of the week, picking up a list of endless girls, with you being the latest in a long line!

Michelle: I'm gonna take Mick upstairs.. help him sober up..

Victoria: Bet you'll do more than that!

Michelle: You've got me all wrong Vic, you got me all wrong..

Michelle grabs Mick and supports him, as they move out of the kitchen and head upstairs.

INT. GRIDDLE FAMILY MANSION - EVENING

Natalie and Paul are standing in the kitchen, with their daughters Laura and Libby sitting down at the table looking at the newspaper article about Libby.

Libby: Well I didn't think they would care what I got up to in my free time!

Laura: Well clearly they do care sis.. so take it easy yeah?

Libby: Take it easy!? I'm only having a good time for christ sake.. its the papers sad problem if they have to report on everything I do!

Laura: Your sad for trying to get the attention of the press every 2 minutes! I swear being in the spotlight has gone straight to your head! The first few days after our lottery win, we were on the front pages and you loved it...

Libby: I did... didn't you!? We were the most talked about family in the country!

Laura: Personally, I hated it... the press swarming all over us.. making us famous to almost everyone! Where was our privacy?

Libby: You didn't like being splashed on the front pages?! It's like every girl's dream!

Laura: The truth is Lib.. once the papers lost interest in us, you couldn't handle it could you eh? because you loved being in the spotlight so much.. which is why you then decided to do anything and flaunt yourself as much as possible to get yourself back in the spotlight again! You couldn't face being no longer talked about!... well nice one sis, because you have now humiliated our entire family because of your stupid antics that has been printed in today's paper!

Libby: Sod you Laura! I was only having a good time.. enjoying the money we won... I wasn't going all out to get attention... I was going all out because we can flash the cash!

Paul: This is what me and your mum have been discussing... maybe we should hold back a bit eh?

Libby: What do you mean? :confused:

Natalie: We've made ourselves a bit obvious really haven't we!? We haven't been very subtle about our win on the lottery, in fact, we've been showing off how much we have because of our ridiculous spending and endless articles and pictures of us in newspapers... it has to stop!

Paul: We need to go steady on how much we're spending, we can't get too carried away .. we can't make it obvious to everyone how much we actually can afford, as some people don't even have enough money to buy the basic essentials!

Libby: But we are lucky! Shouldn't we celebrate our luck!? .. shouldn't we make the most of the cash we got? ... what are you saying? .. give all our money to charity? Put it in our pissin' bank accounts!?

Laura: Well that's a sensible idea!

Libby: It's a boring idea! Sod the lot of ya.. I'll spend my share of the lottery money however I wish and none of you can stop me!

Libby storms out of the kitchen, in a confident manner. Natalie, Paul and Laura are left feeling angry.

INT. GREAVES HOUSE - EVENING

Victoria is in the kitchen, making herself a cup of tea. Michelle and Mick enter the room. Mick sits down and holds his head in his hands.

Victoria: All that drinking coming back to haunt you is it?

Mick: I'm alright.. just need a couple of paracetemol.. can you pass me 2 love and get me a drink of water to go with it?

Victoria: Can't your latest girlfriend do that for you?

Mick: Oh Vic.. don't be like this..

Victoria: Don't be like what!? .. why on earth dad are you tryin' to live the life of a celebrity!? Going out getting drunk, going to clubs and bars every night, picking endless girls up, not getting yourself a job... you've gotta pull yourself together!

Michelle: You have to appreciate that it's hard for your dad though, he's just got out of prison...

Victoria: Oh that old tired argument! That excuse don't wash with me, I'm afraid!

Mick: But it's hard Vic... I have tried looking for a job..believe me.. but I got turned down.. who wants an ex criminal working for them!?

Victoria: You shouldn't give up! Don't be a defeatist.. there are loads of jobs out there, someone is bound to employ you! You've just got to show yourself off, make an effort, persaude people that you have changed and your life as a criminal is all in the past.

Mick: But it's hard for me .. to just.. adjust..

Victoria: Don't give me that crap dad! Me and the kids are relying on you to get a job so bloody get a job alright?!

Victoria is about to leave with her cup of tea but turns to Michelle.

Victoria: Be a darling and get that paracetemol and water my dad wanted..

Victoria forces a smile at Michelle and leaves the kitchen.

INT. WIGHTS HOUSE - EVENING

Tasha is preparing dinner in the kitchen, whilst Simon is sat down reading the newspaper. Isabelle enters.

Isabelle: Hi

Tasha: Hey, what do you want? .. your never usually down here before tea... your usually cooped up in your bedroom, moaning and groaning if me or dad even dare make eye contact with you, let alone try and start a conversation with you!

Isabelle: Well... I was wondering...

Tasha: ..Wondering what?

There's a pause.

Simon: Oh come on... spit it out!

Isabelle: Well I am going to be 18 very very soon.. in a week to be precise! :D.. so I wondered if I could have a party?

Tasha: What a coincidence.. me and dad were discussing this earlier, we'd love to throw a party for you wouldn't we Sime? Your 18th needs to be marked with a good old party!

Isabelle: Well.. I don't know if you'll be happy with this bit.. but I was wondering if I could host the party here?

Simon: Here? In this house!?

Isabelle: Yeah...is it a problem?

Simon: Yes! A big problem...you must be out of your mind if you think we're gonna let you host a party in this house!

Isabelle: Oh please! I'll look after this house.. I would hate for it to get trashed...

Simon: Well there will be no risk of the house getting trashed as the answer if a party will be hosted here is no..

Isabelle: My friends will respect our property dad!

Simon: You can't persaude me Is.. so don't even try.

Tasha: Maybe we should let her have a party here love..

Simon: What!?

Tasha: Let's give her a chance.. it'll give Isabelle a bit of responsibility, to look after this house, make sure it stays in ship shape.. and it is her 18th, she should be entitled to have her party wherever she sees best!

Simon: Sod what we think then...

Tasha rolls her eyes.

Tasha: We'll be here to keep an eye on things too! Make sure things don't go too out of control.. I think we should give Is a chance with this!

Isabelle: I'll leave you two to think about it..

Isabelle awkwardly leaves the room.

INT. GRIDDLE FAMILY MANSION - NIGHT

Laura is in her bedroom, listening to some music on her CD player. There is a knock on her bedroom door.

Laura: Yeah.. come in..

The door opens and Libby walks in.

Laura: Oh...it's you..

Libby: Look Lau.. I just came to apologise for earlier.

Laura: Apologise?! That's a first!

Libby: Please... this is hard for me, don't make it any worse than it already is!

Laura: It's hard for you to apologise!?.. well it's hard for me Lib to see you get so bloody obsessed with the media and the money we own!

Libby: We're just going to have to disagree! I get it, you hate the media, your hating the way I'm "showing off" because of the dosh that we have!

Laura: The media is an evil place Lib! They use you for their own ends, they draw you in, then spit you back out!

Libby: I don't have to listen to this!

Laura: Mum and dad agree with me you know! ..they want you to tone down on the publicity your giving us.. so please, can you promise you will?

Libby: I don't need to promise you anything!

Libby storms out of the bedroom. Laura falls back on her bed, incredibly frustrated.

INT. GREAVES HOUSE - NIGHT

Victoria is walking into the bathroom, when her younger brother and sister, Brendan aged 12 and Chloe, 14 call their older sister into the bedroom.

Victoria: What is it you two?

Chloe: We want to know what's going on..

Victoria: How do you mean!?

Chloe: About dad! Me and Brendan..we're both getting worried about him!

Victoria: The last thing I want both of you to do is worry! You need to concentrate on school and your studies..

Brendan: We can't help but worry though can we!? He's our dad! Me and Chlo both thought that once he got out of prison, we'd be a big happy family...

Chloe: How naive we were!

Victoria: Leave it to me, I will sort him out..

Brendan: But how? What are you going to do?

Chloe: And who's his latest bit on the side!?

Victoria: Oh don't get me started on her! Just trust me ..I will sort everything out, make sure we're a big happy family unit again, ok?!

INT. GREAVES HOUSE - NIGHT

Victoria goes into the kitchen, where she sees her father, Mick making a cup of tea.

Victoria: We need to have a talk .. and don't pretend you don't know what about, because you know! You know what a **** dad your being!

Mick: Woah! Where on earth has this come from!?

Victoria: Your actions today! That's where it's come from! Your bringing about this confrontation between us all on yourself and your stupid behaviour! I've just been speaking to Brendan and Chlo upstairs and they are really worried about you!

Mick: Probably because your exaggerating my behaviour to them! I just have a few drinks, helps me cope with being back on the outside, is that such a bloody problem!? And I've got a lovely new woman in my life! What on earth could be better!? .. I thought you kids would be happy for me! Not the opposite!

Victoria: Me, Brendan and Chlo.. we were all so naive... we actually thought when you got out of prison, you'd start caring for us all, we'd start acting like a proper family again.. but it comes across to me that all you care about is the soddin' drink and your new bit on the side! .. let me ask you... have you actually spent any quality time with the kids yet? Have you!?

Mick: (intensely angry) Don't challenge me Vic! You have no idea! No idea how hard this is for me..

Victoria: Don't try and pull out the sympathy card again! I am getting sick and tired of it! You need to get some stability back in your life.. drinking and shagging endless girls won't help you do this!

Mick: What are you? A bloody counsellor!? Your my daughter! You should look up to me!

Victoria: Well I don't look up to you! Look at you! Your a state! You need to sort yourself out, get yourself a job...

Mick: You know I can't do that..

Victoria: There's something I need to tell you and it might make you change your mind...

Mick: What!?

Victoria nervously hesitates.

INT. WIGHTS HOUSE - NIGHT

Simon is in the living room watching television. His wife, Tasha enters the room, grabs the remote control and turns off the TV.

Simon: What are you doing!? I was watching that!

Tasha: We need to talk about Is..

Simon: Her party isn't happening and that's that!

Tasha: That isn't that! Come on Sime.. the 18th birthday is a milestone! I don't want to argue about this again like we did earlier..

Simon: Well your the one bringing it up again!

Tasha: I will bring it up until you agree!

Simon: Fine, alright! Yes! she can have her party! least it will stop you droning on like a broken record... now can I get back to watching the TV?!

Simon grabs the TV remote and turns the TV back on, ignoring his wife. Tasha leaves the room, a pleased smile on her face.

INT. GREAVES HOUSE - NIGHT

Victoria: There's something I need to tell you and it might make you change your mind...

Mick: What!?

Victoria nervously hesitates and heads to the drawer, opening it and revealing a letter.

Victoria: Do you know what this is!?

Mick: (sarcastically) A letter!

Victoria: Well do you know what the letter is about!?

Mick: (sarcastically) Go on! Surprise me!

Victoria: It's an electricity bill... a bill that we haven't paid of... and you know what else is in that drawer?! Another 6 bills that we have failed to pay off! And do you know the letter I got the other day? It's a letter threatening us with the baliffs!

Mick: You what!? Why the hell didn't you tell me any of this before!?

Victoria: Because you were too busy shagging Michelle, too busy getting drunk, to busy to not care about anything else!

Mick: But this is our livelihood at risk! Why didn't you tell me things were getting so bad?! How dare you keep this from me!

Victoria: Don't you dare try and turn this on me! Your the one at fault here! You've got to get your act together dad!

Mick: And you've got to stop hiding things from me! You've got to be honest..

Victoria: I'm sorry I kept our money troubles from you, but don't try and make me out as being at fault here when it's clearly you at fault! I just hope what I've told you has encouraged you to get a job, you have to do something, anything for money, anything to make ends meet!

Mick: You know it's hard for me to get a job though, what with my past...

Victoria: Don't give me that! Pull yourself together before I turn nasty!

Victoria storms out of the kitchen, a look of rage on her face. Mick staggers back, shocked over what he has just discovered.

INT. WIGHTS HOUSE - MORNING

Isabelle's sister, 16 years old comes down the stairs and walks into the kitchen angrily where she sees Tasha cooking breakfast and Simon sitting down at the kitchen table, eating.

Hayley: What is this I hear of Isabelle having an 18th party in this house!?

Tasha: Oh yes she is.. and it's up to us to make it perfect for her!

Hayley: No way.. this is so unfair! You wouldn't let me have a 16th birthday party in this house! but you let Isabelle..

Tasha: But your sister is going to be 18!

Hayley: So what!? Why can she have a party in this house when I couldn't!?

Simon: I knew this would happen! Partly why I went against the ridiculous idea of Is having a party in this house! I knew you'd get jealous Hayley.. and rightly so..

Tasha: Oh for goodness sake! Look Hayley love, we'll let you have an 18th birthday party in the house when you turn 18..

Hayley: Yeah right!.. your just saying that to keep me sweet!

Tasha: We're not.. at 18, we can trust you with the responsibility of holding a party in this household.. when Isabelle was 16, we didn't let her have a party in this house.. in fact she didn't have a party at all!

Hayley storms out of the kitchen. Tasha looks at Simon disapprovingly.

Tasha: Why didn't you back me up just then!?

Simon: What was I meant to say!? Was I meant to lie just to back you up? You know I don't approve of the party in this house .. I am only going with it as you persauded me! I can totally understand how Hayley feels..

Tasha rolls her eyes and goes back to cooking breakfast.

INT. GRIDDLE FAMILY MANSION - MORNING

Laura, Paul and Natalie are sat at the table eating breakfast. Libby walks in, wearing a skimpy outfit and a short skirt, with heavily done make up masking her face. She grabs a piece of toast and is about to leave when Paul calls her.

Paul: Excuse me...but what on earth are you wearing!?

Libby: I'm just going to pop into town.. is there a problem?

Paul: Your not going to town dressed like that!

Libby: And when were you in charge of what I wear!?

Paul: It's completely ridiculous... cover yourself please!

Laura: Your not going to town are you sis?

Libby: Oh shut up Lau! This has nothing to do with you...in fact, this has nothing to do with the lot of you..

Natalie: Where are you going Lib? We want a straight answer! I mean, I could understand if you dressed like that for a night out.. but it's morning! .. no one dresses like your dressed at this time!

Libby: Maybe I'm just trying to show off a new and unique style..

Paul: You look ridiculous! There is no way I'm letting you set foot out of this manor looking like that! I've never seen a girl dress like that before!

Libby: Ok.. well do you wanna know why I'm dressed like this!? I'm going for a photo shoot .. alright?

Natalie: A photo shoot!?

Libby: Nuts magazine rang me up.. they've seen me in the papers... they think I have some modelling potential..

Laura: Are you sure your not dreaming this sis with your media dominated mind!?

Libby: (dismissing what her sister said) I don't care if you disapprove.. it's my life! I want to make a good impression when I arrive at the shoot..

Paul: So you think dressing like some tart will make you favourable?!

Libby: It's the modelling business dad! They don't expect you wrapped up in clothes! Anyway, I'm going to be late.. I can't be bothered to stick around to watch you lot look down your nose at me..

Libby leaves the kitchen. The rest of the family look on in dismay.

INT. WIGHTS HOUSE - DAY

Isabelle walks in from school, with a happy facial expression. Simon and Tasha are both at the table.

Simon: How come your so happy?

Isabelle: Well I sorted out who's coming to my party today and it proved quite popular!

Simon: Oh dear god, you didn't advertise on Myspace or anything did you!? .. I've heard what happens when someone does that.. it was on that Trevor McDonald programme a few months back..

Isabelle: No.. I wouldn't be that stupid! You have to trust me!

Tasha: So how many people are coming to your party?

Isabelle: (hesitates) Roughly around 30 or so...

Simon: 30!? Are you insane!? How are they all going to fit in this house!? Something's going to get broken... I just know it!

Isabelle: Like I said before, I'll keep things under control! You'll just have to deal with the fact that 30 or so people will be at my party because I'm not going to change my plans to suit you! My friends aren't maniacs.. they aren't gonna go all out to trash our house you know!

Simon storms out of the kitchen, giving Isabelle a daggered stare as he leaves the room. Isabelle looks on, a frightened expression on her face.

INT. GREAVES HOUSE - DAY

Victoria, Brendan and Chloe are in the kitchen.

Brendan: Where's dad?

Victoria: He went out.. he never said where though..

Chloe: Give me three guesses.. I bet your bottom dollar I know where he is.

Victoria: I can bet my bottom dollar too!

Brendan: Did you speak to dad?

Victoria: I tried my best.. but goodness knows if he'll listen to me. I think I did get him scared though, so hopefully he'll become a bit more of a decent father to us, get himself a job..

Chloe: I wouldn't hold my breath..

Victoria: We all need to stop being so cynical.. I know things aren't perfect right now, what with dad.. but we have to remember that we've all still got each other and that's so important as some people in this world have no one..

Brendan: Yeh I guess your right..

Victoria smiles at Chloe and Brendan and gives them both a hug.

INT. GRIDDLE FAMILY MANSION - NIGHT

We see Libby entering the mansion. She is in the same clothes as she left in, the previous morning. She stumbles through the door and is confronted by her parents, Natalie and Paul and her sister Laura.

Paul: Where have you been?

Natalie: We've been worried sick! We kept trying to ring your phone but no reply! Where have you been!?

Libby: Nowhere.. and Oh.. I.. I lost my phone..

Paul: (concerned) Are you alright?

Libby: I'm fine alright!? God why are you always on my back eh!?

Paul: I take it the photo shoot didn't go well then..

Libby: I don't wanna bloody talk about it!

Natalie: I think you should go to bed Libby... sleep off all the alcohol you've been drinking!

Laura walks up to Libby in disgust.

Laura: Yeh you smell like a bleedin' brewery!

Libby: Oh piss off the lot of ya

Libby slowly stumbles and struggles upstairs. Laura is trying to retain her amusement, as Paul and Natalie look at each other, both with concerned facial expressions.

Victoria is starting to walk down the stairs, when she hears Michelle on the phone.

Michelle: Yeah..look, I'll try and see you when I can.. it's just I'm a bit busy at the moment that's all.. with different things..

Victoria, looking rather interested, sits on the staircase and carries on listening.

Michelle: Yeah, I know, I know.. the situation isn't ideal.. if I could, I would see you more, believe me! but you know how hard it is for me at the moment, I'll try and see you soon ok but I can't make any promises. Yeah.. I love you too..

Victoria has a shocked facial expression on her face, as Michelle carefully places the phone down.

Victoria: (under her breath) Jesus christ..

INT. WIGHTS HOUSE - NIGHT

Hayley is in her bedroom, reading a copy of Heat magazine. Tasha knocks on her bedroom door and walks in.

Tasha: Hiya love..

Hayley: Oh.. hi mum

Tasha: Look, I am going to cut to the chase.. I want to iron things out before Isabelle's party so there isn't a bad atmosphere..

Hayley: Alright.. I'm sorry if I overreacted ok!? I just feel it's a bit unfair that Isabelle can have a party in this house, when I wasn't allowed..

Tasha: I can understand your feelings but I don't want you looking all miserable and sour faced on Isabelle's birthday.. me and your dad want to make it a special day for Is..

Hayley: So sod what I feel!

Tasha: For christ sake Hayley, not everything is about you! When the time comes and your 18, we're gonna make a big a fuss as we are with Isabelle.. we don't favour Isabelle over you! That's what this is all about isn't it!?

Hayley: Like I said, I just feel it's a bit unfair!

Tasha: Well I will promise you now, hand on heart.. when your 18, we're going to make your day very special..

Hayley: Including a party in this house!?

Tasha: (hesitating) Fine.. yes...so now I've promised you that, I want you to slap a smile on your face! Isabelle's 18th is going to make us one big happy family alright!?

Hayley: Yes alright.. I'm happy!

Tasha: Good :)

Tasha leaves Hayley's bedroom. Hayley forces on a smile.

INT. GRIDDLE FAMILY MANSION - DAY

Paul, Natalie and Laura are sat in the living room.

Paul: Has Libby come out of her room yet!? I swear I haven't seen her set foot out of her pit all morning!

Laura: I don't think she has..

Natalie: Maybe she went out without telling us.. you know what she's like, sneaking off here there and everywhere living the high life!

Laura: Best go and see if she's alright..

Laura is about to get up but Natalie stops her.

Natalie: No it's fine, I'll go... you've pissed her off lately, so I doubt she'll respond to you...no offence intended..

Laura: Nah your right.. I have pissed her off!

Natalie leaves the room and heads upstairs. She knocks on Libby's door.

Natalie: Libby .. are you alright!?

There is no answer.

Natalie: You haven't set foot out of there all morning.. is there something wrong? ... do you want something to eat? I can do you some breakfast if you like, you haven't eaten all morning..

There is no response. Natalie looks slightly concerned but heads back downstairs and into the living room.

Natalie: She isn't replying... maybe she did go out after all..

Paul: Oh for god sake, there's only one way of finding out!

Paul heads off upstairs. Natalie and Laura follow him.

INT. GRIDDLE FAMILY MANSION - DAY

Natalie and Laura follow Paul upstairs. Suddenly, Libby bursts out of the bathroom in tears and locks herself in her bedroom.

Paul: (shouting at Libby) Lib! Libby! What on earth is wrong!?

Libby: Just leave me alone.. all of you just piss off!

Natalie: Come on Libby! We want a straight answer from you! What's gotten into you!?

Paul: It's that darn photo shoot isn't it!? It all went wrong and now your upset..

Laura: I told you the media was an evil place sis..

Libby: (fighting back the tears) I don't need you telling me you were right Lau! That's the last thing I need.. I just want to be left alone, this has nothing to do with the photo shoot! Now leave me be...

Paul: Has someone hurt you!? If anyone has laid one finger on you, they're dead!

Natalie: (pulling Paul back by his arm) Come on Paul.. she said to leave her be so lets just do what she says eh?

Paul: (throws himself forward) I'm not leaving her in a state! (in a low voice) She might do something stupid!

Libby: For christ sake, I'm not suicidal! I can hear you, you know!

Paul: (determined) If your not gonna open this door Lib, I am gonna bash it down!

Natalie: (rolling her eyes at Paul's threat) Oh Paul!

There is no reply. Paul launches his foot up and propells forward, breaking the door down with a sudden crash.

Natalie: My god love! There was no need for that!

Paul: There was every need! (turns to Libby) Now tell me what's up..

Libby wipes away the tears and turns away from the window to face her family who are all stood in the broken doorway.

Chloe walks in through the back door of the house, where she is met by Victoria who is standing in the kitchen.

Victoria: Chlo! I knew there was something fishy about dad's latest woman..

Chloe: What do you mean!?

Victoria: Oh don't worry.. all will be revealed and that Michelle is going to be exposed for the liar that she really is!

Chloe: I am intrigued!

Chloe leaves the room to take off her shoes, as a grin passes across Victoria's face.

Paul: Now tell me what's up..

Libby wipes away the tears and turns away from the window to face her family who are all stood in the broken doorway.

Libby: I think I need some space..

Natalie: What are you talking about!?

Libby: I need to get away from here.. need to get away from this place..

Paul: Your talking jibberish Lib! What are you saying!?

Libby: I am going to meet some friends back in London.. spend some time there for a while..

Libby walks over to her wardrobe and pulls out a packed suitcase.

Libby: I'm leaving.. right now..

Natalie: Come on now! You don't want to go making too much of a hasty decision..

Libby: Nothing you say will make me stay mum, my mind is made up.. please, just let me leave..

Paul: Let's talk about this! You haven't even told us what was wrong.. you can't just leave here with all us worried about you!

Libby: I'm fine honestly! Time of the month..

Paul: Oh don't give us that!

Natalie: Come on Paul.. just let her leave, if that's what she wants..

Libby: Don't worry about me please, I've arranged it with friends, I am meeting them in London and staying with them for a few days.. I won't be away for any longer than a week. I just need to go somewhere different, somewhere a bit less familiar so I can sort my head out..

Libby leaves her room with her suitcase and quickly walks down the stairs. Paul, Natalie and Laura all follow her.

Natalie: Promise you'll ring us..

Paul: Yes, at least promise us that.

Libby: I promise.

Libby weakly smiles before leaving with her suitcase in her hand. Paul, Natalie and Laura watch her closely as she leaves down the garden path.. the last the family will see of her..

The Greaves family, along with Michelle are all sitting at the dining table. Victoria suddenly stands up and clears her throat.

Victoria: There's something I think you need to tell us all Michelle..

Michelle: (looking slightly confused) Is there?

Victoria: Don't try and put on an innocent act! Your already treating us all like fools..

Michelle: I really don't have the faintest idea of what your talking about.

Victoria: (to Mick) Sorry dad, but you picked the wrong kind of woman, again!

Mick: What on earth do you mean!?

Victoria: I heard you on the phone Michelle..

Michelle: On the phone?

Victoria: Yes, earlier you were on the phone! Didn't you think you were going to get caught out!? You cheating slut!

Michelle: (standing up horrified) How dare you!

Victoria: You didn't think anyone was around when you were making that phone call did you!? But I heard it all!

Michelle: You really have got the wrong idea!

Victoria: Don't try and wriggle your way out of this! I knew you were trouble the first time I clapped eyes on you! I knew you would be like all the other women that my dad has dated!

Michelle: Christ! Just sit down will you?! You've got it all wrong!

Victoria: "I'll see you soon ..now is a difficult time, I love you" ... what else am I meant to be thinking?! Your cheating on my dad with somebody else!

Mick: Please don't tell me this is true 'Shell..

Michelle: It isn't! You've just embarrased yourself Vic by jumping to this conclusion!

Victoria: How have I!?

Michelle: The person I was speaking to on the phone was my ill mother!

There is a stunned silence. Victoria turns away, horrified by what she has suggested.

Michelle: So next time, think before you brand me a "cheating slut"!

Michelle storms out of the room, giving Victoria a daggered look as she leaves the kitchen.

INT. GREAVES HOUSE - EVENING

Mick is comforting Michelle in the living room. She is upset over the allegations that Victoria has made. The camera cuts to Victoria walking down the stairs, with a suitcase in her hand. Brendan is following her, anxiously.

Brendan: You can't leave us!

Victoria: What other choice do I have!? I've just made a fool out of myself!

Brendan: You can apologise! Why don't you try and get along with Michelle? Build bridges with her..

Victoria: Fat chance of that happening! I've well and truly screwed things up.. Michelle won't want to make the effort with me anymore so what's the point? The atmosphere here will just be awkward if I stay..

Brendan: It really doesn't have to be like this!

Victoria: It does.. I'm sick and tired of staying here, trying to knock sense into dad, trying to make him get a job, trying to mould him into a decent father to us! I've realised that my place isn't here.. I don't want to stick around to watch our world come crashing down around us!

Brendan: What do you mean by that!?

Victoria: Nothing..

Brendan: Sis!

Victoria: (releasing a sigh) This family... we're in financial trouble..

Brendan: What!?

Victoria: We haven't paid off half our bills.. the baliffs could come round anytime soon, snatching away our possessions, our livelihood! I don't want to stick around for that.. that misunderstanding with Michelle has given me the perfect reason to just run away from our problems..

Brendan: So your running away? Leaving us to pick up the pieces?!

Victoria: It doesn't have to be like that.. you and Chlo.. you can both come with me!

The camera turns to Mick and Michelle who are standing at the bottom of the stairs.

Mick: I don't think so.. Brendan and Chloe are staying here, where they belong!

Brendan: I want to go with Vic and I'm sure Chlo does too!

Mick: Your not an adult Brendan! Your not fit enough to make your own decisions, neither is Chloe.. your staying here, in my care!

Brendan: You don't know me dad.. since you've been in prison, I've grown up and I've been able to make my own decisions! I'm not a child anymore.. neither is Chlo! Vic has looked after me and Chlo since you've been inside and she's been like a mother to us! I think it's in my best interests that me and Chloe go with her..

Mick: No way! I'm not letting you leave this house Brendan, even if I have to physically stop you..

Victoria: Stay here Brendan...just stay here..

Brendan: (holding back the tears) But you can't leave us!

Victoria: (tearful) I'm sorry.. I'm so sorry..

Mick: (to Victoria) Just get out of our house..

Victoria walks down the stairs, looking at Michelle who is giving her an evil stare. She walks out of the front door, where she turns and sees her father.

Victoria: I'll keep in touch..

Mick: I think we'll do just fine without you..your always out to make problems, cause trouble.. as long as your out of the equation sweetheart, things will run just smoothly..

Victoria turns and walks down the garden path, wiping away the tears that are rolling down her cheek... this is the last time we see her, as she disappears, into thin air..
