Im sick of been totally shattered on a morning so some nights ive started going much earlier than i usually do like half 10 which is early for me as im usually always after 12, one night I even went to sleep at half 9 and slept right through to about 7 the next morning and felt absolutely no different like i hadnt benefited at all, infact I probably felt even worse. am i wasting my time bothering? :searchme:

I know exactly what you mean!! one time I was in bed by 9 last week and it just feels like it makes no difference what so ever!

i must have something wrong with me becuase no matter how much/little sleep i have i end up feeling shattered the next day anyway. every day of my life it's a nightmare.

If I go to bed early at 11 one night, I wont feel any better the day after than if I'd gone to bed at 4am after a night clubbing.

It's a loose loose situation!

I'm the same! Going to bed early/late either way still amkes me feel rubbish the next day.
I think it's because.. if we HAVE to get up, we don't allow our bodies to wake up naturally... we're forced to wake up (I am anyways) on weekends I have areallly nice sleeps and wake up feeling refreshed, but I think thats; becaus my bodies woken up on it's own.

You need to let your body get into it's natrual rythm of sleep, you can't expect just 1 early night to make you feel great. For every hour your asleep before 12 midnight is actually worth 2 hours sleep! so like say you go to bed at 10 and sleep til 7, it would be the eqivalent of 11 hours sleep

Apparently, the body sleeps in 4 hour cycles. After every 4 hours, the body is much closer to conciousness than it is in the middle of the 4 hours.

Bottom line: 4 hours sleep is better than 6 hours sleep. 8 hours sleep is ideal.

I can't function without 8 hours, anything long or shorter and I am a wreak for the day..

I have a pattern, that i must be used to which is about 8 hours.

I have to be consistant otherwise i am a wreck. Going from my job where i was getting up at 630 and going to bed 1030 11 o clock to freshers week, where it was up for 9 and in bed at four made me so ill, it wasnot good.

I think my sleeping pattern can be quite bad. Usually, I go to bed at 11pm and wake up at half 7 the next morning but recently, I've been going to bed just before midnight and getting up at half 7 the next day..

On weekends, I usually go to bed at about midnight or just after, then get up at 9ish the next day... but despite all that, I'm still always tired.

I get like that if I have loads of sleep I get up at 5:45 most mornings, and go to bed between half 10 - 12 depends if im tired, and im fine with that amount of sleep, but on a weekend i sometimes lay in till 10 - 11 ish and feel tired when i wake up, as ive had to much sleep

Abbie

I go to bed late very rarely Im in bed before 11, but I do try, and then by alarm goes off at 6:45 but I dont get out of it till 30 mins later

That's like me  And that is why I have three alarms. :p

Today I slept late and I woke up with a really bad headache, so said goodbye to the brazillian people and then lay down for another hour. Sleeping late is not a good idea.

They recommend that you get up as soon (!) as the alarm goes off, do not snooze for a while or set several alarms  I certainly get up as soon as the alarm goes off, happens rarely because I usually wake up around 5 am and get up around 5.40 - don't know how but I manage.

Chris_2k11
04-10-2008, 18:28
there is absolutely no way I could get up the second the alarm goes off, i must press snooze about 3 times before i eventually get up haha

After a while I get used to the alarm. I live on a main road and under Heathrows flightpath I'm used to blocking out noise  That's why I set my alarm 20 minutes before I actually get up. :p

Same. I've had two early nights in a row and it feels like I've done nothing today because I was asleep earlier too. I'm still shattered.

I have to say.. I went to bed at like 1 last night and I haven't been able to concentrate at all today, been in a world of my own and I've been really lethargic and I fell asleep when I got in.

So I'm going to bed at 11 and see how I am in the morning again because Iget up at half 6 instead of half 7 now too

I went to bed at 11 last night. Woke up at 8.10. Whoops. I can get to college in 20 minutes so I made it in on time for 9 but it's always a choice between shower or breakfast.

My Mum used to be my alarm and then I decided to use my phone. Usually hearing a random bell didn't work but then once I got used to it and I recongnised it I woke up.
I don't know how long my snooze button is on my phone, and I can't change it so I tend to wake up straight away.
I do tend to have a mini 3-min lie-in and yes, if I end up having a lie-in it feels harder to wake up so I 2nd what Perdita said! :) x

Aren't these just the best alarm clocks. :rotfl: :rotfl: Now this is what I need...

Not only is this behemoth the worlds loudest alarm... at 113 decibels it's louder than a chainsaw... it also comes fitted with a vibrating mattress shaker (don't worry it's not as kinky as it sounds!). So if the fearsome alarm doesn't wake you then the earthquake simulator certainly will! And just to add insult to injury, the makers of this uber-alarm added some pulsating alert lights just for good measure.

The Flying Alarm Clock. A mischievous device that, at the appointed and evil hour, jettisons part of itself into the air, up, up and away from your angry, swinging arms and far off into a corner of your room. And the only way to stop the siren's wail of the alarm? You've got to get up, hunt it down and return the pesky flyer it to its base.

Guaranteed to work, infuriate and impress in equal measure.

You can turn the volume off (or down) on the sonic bomb. I think the earthquake simulator would be enough to wake me up.

And that thing could fly off down the narrow gap between my wardrobe and wall or something; I might well have to move the wardrobe to get it back so it would shut up! :rotfl:

Omggg I so need/want one of them!!
Where do you get them from? :hmm:

Tori

Alternatively, the fire alarm here at uni: bright red flashing light and varied pitch of the alarm makes for a good alarm clock!

I know what you mean about sleeping more and feeling worse, it's down to the sleep cycle thingy. Not that I ever implement it myself that is!

I can't go to sleep in that time either. I can when I'm absolutely shattered though, when I go to bed at ridiculous times like di marco and not at suitable ones. The last two nights I've gone to bed early and got to sleep in about 5 minutes or something, I was so tired.

Abbie

But even when Im so tired it takes me up to an hour , if im lucky 30 mins
