Amused, Debbie questions why he is doing this. Genuine, Eli tells her that he adores her and wants to help give her a chance to fight for Sarah. Debbie is in turmoil. When Eli promises to do whatever it takes, Debbie agrees but stresses it would be purely about Sarah and just a business transaction. Privately sure Debbie will relent in time Eli agrees. In the pub, Debbie’s friends and family awkwardly offer congratulations but when Louise asks to see the ring she is furious to recognise it is hers. When Eli chides Louise that she couldn’t have liked it very much or she would have taken more care, Jamie flies for Eli and a brawl ensues. Debbie slams the ring on the bar and storms off. Eli follows but Debbie insists that the wedding is off and walks away. Eli swears that if she keeps walking they are over for good but is left gutted when she just keeps going. Meanwhile, David and Nicola agree that they should find a home together. Seeing that Tenants’ cottage is within their price range, Nicola tells David that she is going to try and get the money for a deposit and fees from Donald sure she is owed. Anna is livid to find Nicola railing at her father but is left thinking when Donald admits what a shame it is that he couldn’t have kept Nicola working within De Souza asserting that she is a wily operator and could prove to be an ally against the Kings. Later, Anna tells Nicola that she will put a good word in for her at Home Farm if Nicola agrees to keep her distance from Donald and in return she’ll work on getting her a small divorce sum.

Nicola tries to convince Paul that she had no idea that she was taking the job away from him but when he gives her an ultimatum to drop the career he is rattled to see his sisters lack of remorse and asserts he wants her out of his house straight away. Nicola is upset to have ruined yet another relationship. At the Dingles, Eli tries to throw Danielle out, but it’s clear she is in some trouble. Lily is surprised when Peter turns up in a bedraggled appearance. He thanks her for the money that she has been sending but admits that it has not been enough and he is at risk of losing his home and business. He asks Lily if she can raise some funds for an investment opportunity but she regrets she has no money to speak of. When she questions whether Edna may be able to help he refuses to ask her and asserts he must leave the village before he bumps into her. When Marlon, keen to mollycoddle his wife, berates her and Jamie she makes it clear to him that even though she has resigned for the police she isn’t going to be sat around at home. Elsewhere, Danielle continues to be frustrated in her attempts to get Eli onside. As they talk it becomes apparent that Danielle caused Eli to spend three months in prison for burgling Danielle’s ex-boyfriend’s house eight years previously. He quips that there is nothing between them. Undeterred, Danielle professes that Eli is the only man who’s ever treated her right and that she used to love him. Eli softens and they are about to share a tender moment before being interrupted by Zak and Shadrach. Eli hardens his resolve and reiterates his desire to get Danielle out of the homestead. However, Danielle pulls Eli into the barn and kisses him passionately, promising him anything he wants. As Eli’s defences utterly fail, Danielle has him wrapped around her little finger.
