Just wondering really does anyone else's school/college/work etc. do a minutes silence in memory of those who died & fought in the 9/11 attacks? We do every year which I think is really nice.

I remember watching it on the news and saw the second plane hit the second tower as it happened. Can't believe it's been 7 years since already.
Do you remember what you were doing when it happened?

I hold my own little remembrance every year, I still get upset thinking about it. A cousin was working in the WTC then but was out of the office that morning, another cousing works in the Pentagon and was on holiday that day.

Gosh, they were lucky. My teacher said her friend was the same today, he was ill that day and so didn't go into work.

I still get a bit upset i guess...though i cant really call it upset cos im not the emotional type like that but i have it in my name every year (well since 2005 as that is the year i went to NY so that was when it really started meaning something)

I love the beginning of that. I was having this discussion with Siobhan the other day funnily enough, but i find it so boring when you got the blokes talking for ages.

The best film/documentary about it is one where the plane comes towards the offices and you see it flying over their heads (Shiv knows the name of it so she can tell us hehe)

Yeah, it was kinda boring. I didn't realise though, until the end, that the characters were based on real people which I though was really nice. It got me the most when they played actuall footage, like from the news programmes.

I haven't seen all of it but yeah i knew they were based on real people because on Extreme Makeover:Home Edition Ty helped a guy (Jason Thomas) who saved them two guys and they made an appearence on it and took Ty to Ground Zero

I have my own little remembrance too.. every year I watch the 911 video I have at home. It is not because I knew anyone, it was the same day my daughter was born and although I was really really happy that day, I do know thousands died

i cant believe its been 7yrs already!

i didnt know about it til i got home from school and put on the tv and saw it on the news, i wasnt fully aware what was happening to start with, but i knew it must have been pretty bad cos of it being on every channel. my best friend at the time was off sick that day from school so she saw the 2nd plane hit live

my school did a silence for the 1st anniversary but not after that, but then again they dont do a silence for rememberance day either (although they did use to then all of a sudden they just stopped!) i dont do a specific minutes silence at a certain time as i can never work out/remember what time it was that happened. but cos of all the stuff on tv i do remember and think about it just not at a specific time for a minutes silence. i do still do a minutes silence for rememberance day and i tend to think about it then as well as the wars and everything else etc

its very lucky the people that werent there cos they were ill/on hols/missed the train etc. it just shows that there was a reason why you werent there that day when normally you would be

my friends bdays on september 11 as well. i was watching the 9/11 hotel on ch4 the other day and this man managed to escape the world trade centre but his niece and sister were on the 2nd plane that hit. i feel really sorry for his daughter as her bday was september 11 and on the 10th anniversary of her aunt and cousins death will be her 21st bday! :(
