High School Musical 3: Senior Year has broken records with the fastest and biggest advance sales ever in movie history.
The film has beaten previous record holder Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, as well as The Lord of the Rings, and all the Bond films.
Audience demand to see the first major cinema event in the High School Musical franchise has ensured that some performances are already sold out, with still three weeks to go before the film comes out.
As of 1st October, cinemas across the UK had already taken advance bookings to the total of half £1 million.
Odeon Cinemas, the UK's largest chain, puts their total in advance bookings at £245, 205. This beats Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the previous all time record holder, which had taken £227,000 at the same stage of booking and went on to gross £48.3 million.
Rupert Gavin, CEO of Odeon & UCI Cinema Group said: "This is a phenomenal and record breaking start for High School Musical 3. Our cinemas have been inundated with calls to pre-book tickets for what could be the year's biggest kids and teen audience movie. With schools breaking up for half term just as High School Musical 3 opens, we at Odeon are bracing ourselves for a huge first week run."
The film comes out on Wednesday October 22.

Zac Efron could be going nude on stage, after revealing that he is considering a role in the play Equus.
According to The Sun, Efron commented at the London premiere of High School Musical 3 that he has been approached to take over from Daniel Radcliffe.
The play, in which the Harry Potter actor stars alongside Richard Griffiths, recently made its Broadway debut.
Efron told the newspaper: "You know that Daniel Radcliffe role on Broadway? Well, it's been mentioned."

It wasnt really there, it was when We're all in this together was on and they were all teary eyed and saying what they were gonna be doing :crying: It was just so sad

That is one of my fave songs from the film...its like a way to say how HSM changed their life :cheer:

i took my little cousin to see this yesterday for her bday. surprisingly there was hardly anyone else there! tbh, and im gonna get shouted at for saying this, i thought it was really boring. it was really predictable, so much so that i was guessing actual lines exactly before they were even said! and i also think zac efron is a pretty poor actor. me and my sis kept looking at our phones to see how much longer was left lol! although the end song was ok! my little cousin enjoyed it though!

'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' was voted best movie at last night's Kids' Choice Awards.
Zac Efron collected the prize for the Kenny Ortega-helmed film at the L.A. ceremony, while his co-star Vanessa Hudgens was named as favourite movie actress.
Will Smith won the gong for favourite movie actor, while voters selected American Idol as the best reality TV show.
The prize for favourite male singer went to Jesse McCartney and Miley Cyrus was honoured in the best female singer category.
About 90 million votes were cast across 18 categories in the Nickelodeon awards.
